    Brilliant mate! It is definitely competition quality, but I think the average war gamer wants to push out as many troops as possible & it takes a lot of work as well as time to reach this level.

    Super video! I decided to change step 2 highlighting with Combat Fatigues to drybrushing with the same colour, I have 24 to paint so needed to speed up the process a bit!!

    you have realy helped with the detail you provide in the mixing and layering.. i would prefer a little "less green" for my airborne and you have helped immensely in providing the appropriate info for choosing a suitable scheme

      You could follow the steps that I did for my Winter Soviets in one of my old videos:ua-cam.com/video/6hQK9hxknzQ/v-deo.html
      But maybe swap out the brown ink washes over the clothing for the Military Shader ink.

    I didn't see you paint the rifle sling, I think you used the same colors as for the backpack and other webgear from the looks. I'm curious if these straps were of fabric or actually leather.

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  7 років тому +1

      Yep, so the Garand did make use of a leather sling but from 1943 a khaki sling was also issued and became increasingly common over time.

    Thanks for the great video. Would this be the correct colour scheme for the market garden era airbourne in the band of brothers starter set?

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  7 років тому +1

      Yep that's correct. Those minis are wearing the M43 Uniform that was issued post D-Day which was often in the colour green used in this video. The M42 Uniform which was often khaki (the one with knee and elbow pads) was used during the D-Day landings.

      easier to use lighter paints, you'd need more coats for a black undercoat

      He did. He used the Army Painter Spray Primer in Uniform Grey. It's a 100% match for the AP paint Uniform Grey.

    Hey!
    I’ve seen several videos from your channel and I realized that you don’t prime the miniatures. Am I wrong? I was always told that priming is the first thing we have to do.
    Thanks!

    • @rpiazza72
      @rpiazza72 4 роки тому

      If you watch this video again Pete says he primed the miniature in the opening minute. I think what your seeing is Pete doesn't film the priming of his models he just jumps right into the base coating and goes from there.

    Hello friend does that “disk” you put the figure comes with the starter kit? The ones that have some grass

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  5 років тому +1

      The base? Yes the plastic discs come with the set but you need to add the soil/grass yourself. Here is a tutorial you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/zYIQi-M0es0/v-deo.html

    So you use a spray gun for the initial primer coat, do you also do that for the matte varnish at the end? Also, do you put the varnish on before or after any insignia?

    I've never painted with army painter paints before. I'm about to paint my US infantry. How and why do you dilute the paints?

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  8 років тому +2

      +Kevin Gilligan a couple of reasons, first of all it gives you much better control of the paint which is especially useful for highlights. Secondly, thinning paints will give you a much smoother finish that won't obscure details on the minature.

    Love your Videos, Thanks. I have a question, could I replace your mid brown wash on your backpack with the same light tone shade I'm using on the boots to get a similar effect? Just looking reduce the number of paints I have to purchase. thanks

    • @PeteTheWargamer
      @PeteTheWargamer  8 років тому

      When it comes to shades of browns on WW2 miniatures I wouldn't worry about being too precise. There was so much variation in uniform colour between manufacturers even before you consider discoloration and dirt. However I would recommend using Mid Brown on both rather than Light Tone otherwise your webbing will look quite red/brown.

      yes,it will make your work a lot easier in most minis. and also u can paint in parts,for example first all the weapons u are going to use,the hands etc etc. i do it and it helps me a lot .in that way u can reach more difficult areas with your brush without the fear of painting an other part u dont want.Just to put wash over the mini,assemble it first ,and then apply the wash. and after some highlighting if u want and u are done.

    • @jtr36jtr19
      @jtr36jtr19 4 роки тому

      Despite this guys advice you should not paint on sprue because you can create problems for yourself during assembly and are forced into using the generic poses.
