@EWS60008 - Utter nonsense. Nothing wrong with the Maybach as a power unit, and that is not why they were withdrawn. The difficulty of fitting train air-brake and the nigh impossibility of fitting ETH means that even had BR decided not to withdraw the WR hydraulics in the 1970's as non-standard they would have been withdrawn in the 80's anyway along with vac braked and steam heat only stock.
