I didn't even know Subject Scanning existed. I'm hoping this will work with the problem I have with the Air 3 not following/recognizing me on my motorcycle? As you pointed out, the icon will tell you it recognizes a boat, car, or person, but it fails to recognize me on my motorcycle and won't engage Active Track. Can't wait to try this out! Hope it works! Thanks Billy for the great info!
Great tutorIal, these flight modes are wonderful. And it's good to see the technology from the Mavic series starting to tickle down to the Air series. Thanks for sharing.
I just used active track on the Air 3 to track me from the front while walking forward and it quickly moved to the side and ran into branches and crashed. I need to try it again. It didn't really build my confidence in the feature
Nice presentation. While nowhere near the sophistication of the Mavic/Air series of drones, the Phantom 4 Pros had some of the same autonomous features.
if you use the option to fly a drone around an object What can be the maximum radius, i.e. the distance of the drone from the object that the drone is circling? I used to have a DJI Phantom 3 and there was a Circle Mode option and the radius could be set to a maximum of 500 m
Why does my menu only show “Active Shots” and not “Active Track”? I see Active Shots, Spotlight, and POI…but nowhere do I get the straightforward Active Track.
I don''t know if anything is new in Fall of 2024, but I would like to see you do a new video on Intelligent Flight Modes currently on the Mavic 3 or Mini 4 Pro, and I hope they are the same. I didn't fly any since last fall fall due to both heat and some health issues.
Do you think this drone is as good at follow me as Skydio 2? On the waypoints, it looks like it can do what the keyframe in Skydio 2. Is this drone as good or better.

A video strictly about waypoints would be great! I’m really curious about what you said regarding planning waypoints from long distance. This sounds really convenient and would be a fantastic feature and timesaver.
make a video on waypoints for hyperlapse (how they are created and stored) and a video on course lock. Both of these are the best ways to record hyperlapse.

1- For me the Air 3 is nothing more than the Air 2 (smaller sensor full of pixels, that's not very good) Not understanding DJI's choices 2- Pay close attention to intelligent thefts and be ready to stop them
Aw c’mon. Billy’s fast-paced delivery is perfect for those of us who don’t have time to dilly dally. He took me (who’s been flying pro for years and never used auto modes) to RET2GO IN 17 minutes. Billy, I had no idea auto modes had been improved upon so much until I watched this clip. Don’t ever change!
@@JoshConnectMedia What do mean by alter height? You can change your home point - but we know where his take off location is...and the distance is identical to what Google Earth shows.
@@stauferaerial you can reduce your height to a minimum where you could see your drone hence using the VLOS . But guess he was pretty much high though technically if he could still see his drone then isn’t that still having a VLOS ? 😎
@@JoshConnectMedia We're talking distance here, not height. I won't get into optics science, but the Mavic 3 series is virtually impossible to see past 3,000 feet - and this is an Air 3 which is even smaller than a Mavic 3. I'd estimate the max distance you could "see its tiny spec" is 2,500-2,700 feet. And no, absolutely not, "seeing" the drone does not mean you're flying in an FAA satisfactory VLOS manner. This is the FAA's wording: (a) With vision that is unaided by any device other than corrective lenses, the remote pilot in command, the visual observer (if one is used), and the person manipulating the flight control of the small unmanned aircraft system must be able to see the unmanned aircraft throughout the entire flight in order to: (1) Know the unmanned aircraft's location; (2) Determine the unmanned aircraft's attitude, altitude, and direction of flight; (3) Observe the airspace for other air traffic or hazards; and (4) Determine that the unmanned aircraft does not endanger the life or property of another. (b) Throughout the entire flight of the small unmanned aircraft, the ability described in paragraph (a) of this section must be exercised by either: (1) The remote pilot in command and the person manipulating the flight controls of the small unmanned aircraft system; or (2) A visual observer. Billy is 100% not able to comply with section (a) items 1-4. This is irresponsible flight.
Thank you, Bill! This technology just keeps getting better!
Thank you for the summary. Looking forward to seeing the waypoints video.

Excellent video. Loved ity. Explained nicely.
dude, pretty nice review and on spot!
thank you for this
Awesome !
I don’t see the active track menu when I enabled it in my Air 3 with the RC 2 controller. How can I find it?
Do you need to have the controller in your hand for these features.

Totally
Are the videos straight out of the camera or modified in post?

I had subject scanning in my controller but it wouldn’t turn on and now since the latest update it’s gone! 🤷🏻♂️

Why does my menu only show “Active Shots” and not “Active Track”? I see Active Shots, Spotlight, and POI…but nowhere do I get the straightforward Active Track.
👍 So if using active track to follow a car, should you switch your RTH settings from home point to hover?
@Billy_Kyle3 whats that

Hey Billy. My Air 3 yaw left while in video/hyperlaps mode while stationery. For example in 10min recording it moves a degree or 3. Any suggestions?
which ND filters do you suggest for Mavic Air 3?
