In the event you’re innocent and have already lost your license and vehicle for a considerable period of time what sort of compensation will you receive for the inconvenience and (if the car is used for work) lost wages?
They are not telling the whole story here. They can now come to your house, or an establishment and require your breath. Refusal results in arrest.
ie: a vindictive person knows your “going” to be having drinks. Then calls police on you telling them that you “have” been drinking.
Arrested and Charged you now have to prove your innocence.
I thought it was innocent until proven guilty.

Just don't answer your door or peep out a window. They'll leave eventually unless they see movement. No talk no charge. And when in canada never speak without your attorney present you have no obligation to answer any questions until advised.
The police can knock on your door two hours later..and demand a sample.

Neighbour of mine did not answer the door to the RCMP. I saw them force the door open!

With this new law you can't drive two hours prior to commencing drinking. That is to say you can't drive home and take a taxi to the pub to drink until two hours have passed. Such a law should cause civil unrest; what is wrong with us?

How many Canadians have a glass of wine or any other glass of liquor with their meals? Will that one drink or 2 make them a criminal?

No, Canada has a points system with drivers licenses. If you get too many points, you lose your drivers license regardless of how rich you are.
Yes but if a person is extremely wealthy they can just get a chauffeur to drive them where they want.
So if you drive to a party, start drinking, police show up, test you , arrest your for drunk driving.

Now without reasonable suspicion. So all I have to do is look a bit annoyed when the cop shines their flashlight in my face, and I'm a half hour late to work or dinner because I didn't look at them the way they wanted to. If they actually cared about drunk driving, the penalties would be much stiffer. The goal is just to expand the police state.
I hear that you can be tested if they believe you have driven in the last 3 hours. If this is true, wtf??? You go somewhere park your car, get drunk and then can be breathalyzed even though you aren’t behind the wheel?
In 2017 I got a Curative discharge for Care & Control.....means no criminal record......you can't get that any more so be careful

Someone should come up with a device you can put in your car, that has GPS, time code and a breathalyzer so when you get in to drive you can create your own proof that you were not drinking.

zero tolerance, on-demand breath sample without cause. All in just in time for self driving cars. talk about the cart before the horse. seems like these laws would have saved millions of lives years ago. Now that cars will eventually be driving themselves; here come the draconian laws.
