Well considering cocaine and morphine were legal and available to the public if you had money I'd say caffeine such as an energy drink was or would actually be one of the weaker things available at that time period. & caffeine has been around thousands of years which you obviously know im sure. and coca tea has been around for tens of thousands of years in Peru if not significantly longer.
In high school me and my friends on the cross country team found a corral of 3 horses behind someone’s house in the woods. So every day for like a month we’d buy a bag of apples and sugar cubes and trespass and feed their horses. They started getting excited to see us because they knew what was coming. The owners never found out and neither did our coaches. The joy on their faces eating apples and sugar was priceless 👌😍

Sugar cubes. I’m into my 60’s. Grew up in a home that always had sugar cubes. My mom, from Luxembourg, had them for her coffee. That was a BIG treat for her.
She grew up in a different world. A slower, more polite world. Anyway, as a kid, I’d grab one occasionally as a treat. When I had my own kids, any time we’d go visit Gramma Holly, she always had a sugar cube for each of them. They STILL talk about how much they loved Gramma’s sugar cubes.

@@kurrwa processed doesn't mean bad for you. Medicine is processed. In fact animals need sugars to survive. The reason we don't eat too much is that it's basically pure energy and our bodies can't use it all fast enough.
Giving a horse sugar cubes, while there's more sugar than an apple, won't hurt it at all since their bodies and lifestyles are WAY more active than ours. It's basically the equivalent of a human eating a couple grains of sugar. Not because of size, but because of lifestyle.

Remember to hitch it before you go into the general store because that will also improve its bonding levels. Remember before you get in a gunfight, retrieve the guns you need. Your horse doesn’t look too brave to me. So you’re gunna have a tough time with the snakes and wolfs but other than that, that’s a good looking 🐎

I remember a time where people giving sugar cubes to their horses, was a common as the trends you see on UA-cam these days. And yet it's like a whole new thing. Trippy how trends come and go
You remember at time when probably 90% of the people letting someone give there horse sugar cubes got bit by that horse when it thought they should have one ready but they forgot them that day too.
My first cousin got bit square between his shoulders by a horse that someone in our family had, had almost twenty years and a deaf mute could ride her but by god that day he bent over to help me get my gert tighter cause my saddle kept trying to roll me. And him or I neither one ever saw it coming until he was screaming and needed like 30 staples and several stitches to fix the kitchen sink drain size carving/ bite marks he now has. It didn't take out a plug like the saying goes "have a plug bit out of you" but now as typing this comment and thinking back 20 years to high school it would have been f'n awesome / terrifying both had he been at least partly eaten by Star (her name). And I know we could have got layed at least a couple times in a horse trailer at a country boy show or a trail ride that summer just from the scar and story! 😄🐴🦄🐎

When I lived in Egypt they always had sugar cubes for tea and coffee. It's not like that here in the US
