- While cruising around in Newark NJ we decided to make a stop at Steak N Take. Steak and Take has fried food like Fish and shrimp but they specialty is cheesesteak.
We decided to stop by their food truck on Bergen St, across the street from University Hospital. This food truck has a steady flow of traffic all day and there's usually a line of about 2-5 people waiting. Come along with us as we try their Steak N Take cheesesteaks.
Now I'm wandering if Philly Cheesesteaks have anything on Steak N Take and Jersey Food Trucks.

This Steak n Take truck should definitely be showcased on a TV show or rated as one of the best food trucks ever on any food shows! I used to work across the street at UMDNJ and I know for sure those Steak n Take sandwiches are excellent and the Whiting fish sandwiches are excellent too. Whenever I come back home to NJ, I try to stop by at that Steak and Take truck! Yum, Yum😋.

Dang. Matt we are probably the same age(53). Newark was known for the Steak N' Takes; especially on Branford Pl. and South Orange Ave. Where ever there were Muslims or mosques there was Steak N Take. I was friends with the brother son who owned producers. They had a bakery on Chancellor Ave.
Poetic yes! Memories. One of the brothers from Producers family worked at Shoprite. He baked the bean pies there. Tasted just like producers. And yes the Muslims use to def be inn the Steak N Take that was in Harlem.

Awww man I loved Steak and Take. I used to hit them up back in the early 2000's nearly every week when I was on my way home from school. They used to be downtown. Still looks exactly the same too.

He used to sell lemonade- not sure why he does not sell it anymore.

@@MattDV I’m in Orlando right around Sea World. It’s always been difficult to find good bagels, pizza and Italian food. I will say I’ve had to stop comparing it to NY. I’ve found a couple of places that are run by former NYers, so it’s gotten better. I love all the different kinds of food you try. I just had Brazilian food the other night. It was amazing! I have to tell you, your children are beautiful! I love seeing you enjoying time together. My Dad passed in 2017. He was my best friend. Oh how I miss going clamming and crabbing with him in the bay. You seem like a kind soul. I’m glad I found your channel!

We used to have a legendary steak n take in jersey city barshays and he still sells them out of the VIP diner after becoming manager. We just had another steak n take spot for a few years but they closed. I still miss the old bread! It seemed a little softer back then
I'm from Jersey City. Graduated 1976. Steak and Take used to be on Jackson and Bidwell. Right on the corner. Man- those were the days. Name of the Game, The Veldt on Monticello. Different days now. Growing up then was so much fun. The Roller Rink on Kennedy Boulevard just before Marist High School Bayonne. To Guys and Great Eastern on Route 440. It's so different in Jersey City now. You don't even recognize it anymore.

Sugar is added to whole wheat breads to make them more palatable, so that's probably why it tastes sweet. If there are onions added to the filling, that will also make the sandwich taste sweet.
