EP27 - Sarah Schoenfelder, professional triathlete from Germany
Sarah started doing triathlons when she was 12, after trying a lot of other sports as a child, including cross country skiing, alpine skiing and tennis. She stopped triathlon because of school obligations, but found her way back in the times of pandemic. Sarah achieved success immediately, after finishing in the top of the ranks in her first triathlons in Challenge Walchsee, Allgau Triathlon and Ingolstadt Triathlon.
Sarah became a professional in 2022 and immediately achieved some respectable results, with finishing 4th in Challenge Walchsee, 5th in Challenge St. Polten and 6th in Challenge San Remo. In 2023, Sarah went on to achieve a top 8 result in all 5 of her races: Challenge St. Polten, Ironman 70.3 Switzerland, Challenge Walchsee, Ironman 70.3 Zell am See and Challenge San Remo. In 2024, Sarah finished in top 7 in all of her races, including stepping on the podium twice, as she finished 3rd in Challenge Walchsee and Challenge St. Polten.
Sarah is living a very balanced life and loves spending time with her boyfriend and her friends, hiking, going for a coffee and even partying. She also has a Masters Degree in Mathematics and Economics and will start working part-time along her triathlon career in December. Her next goal is to progress in her career and qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Marbella in 2025.
