The first time I saw Doug was live when he was on tour with Edgar Winter...i never heard or seen this guy before, then he blew my freaking mind!!! just ripping solos all the way through the show! it was an outdoor stage so his guitar sound was just killer! then after they finished I went to the side of the stage to hopefully talk to him and tell how wicked he was, and there he was just packing up some of his gear and cables, he saw me and walked over to say hi, I told him he was a fucking monster and he just laughed and said ahhh thanks man! I shook his hand and told him thanks and wow wicked show and took off...what a super good dude, very down to earth! but for the monster player he his he shouldn't be able to walk through the door with his head being so big!!! lol but nope super dude and just a fantastic player!! cheers Doug!

I have a question about mic placement because I'm loving how this sounds even without EQ. If have one sm57 where do you place it usually? On axis or off? Or maybe a different approach? Great sound and sweet playing as always!
micing an amp takes a bit of time. I start at the seam where the cone meets the dust cap. I move it closer or farther away from the center, recording each move. I do this with all 4 speakers in a 4x12, as each speaker is different. which ever speaker sounds best, I use it. Which ever spot sounds best, I mark it with a little nail polish on the cloth. I use dark red cause it doesn't affect the tone and looks fucking hot!! JK! the mic is straight on and about an inch away from the cloth. good luck! and thanks!
