Once setup is it easy enough to use diving solely or mostly by touch? I need glasses to use my phone, but don't dive with a prescription mask. I'm also thinking of mounting it on a cap for surfing so touch only to record / stop record, probably leave on for the session. Do-able with practice? Thank you

Thanks for the question. It's definitely convenient enough. Even if the camera comes with a waterproof case, you can still hole shot with the buttons on the side.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like the waterproof case buttons might work better for touch only operation. Just to clarify: the shutter button will not work unless powered on first? That is, no one touch to start video recording? Thank you

Are you saying you don't know if you need to wear a waterproof case on the Brave7 if you're going to take it underwater for use?
The Brave7 has an IPX8 waterproof body. Take care to make sure the battery cover, lens cover and USB cover are tightly closed before going underwater.

Does it save the settings or does it default back to a factory setting after it is turned off? Can the touch screen be used underwater through the case?

Hello there. Settings are saved when powered off. The touchscreen isn't usable underwater, but you can toggle settings using buttons on the waterproof case.

It depends on your model. For Brave7, it's to press the "Down Button" for 3 seconds.

How do you mount it to your scuba gear so it is secure?

Make sure the screws between the camera and the accessory are tight. Also, the connection can be reinforced with tether from the accessory box to make sure everything is secure.

First thing he needs is the waterproof casing ... Wouldn't dream of taking anything off my onto the water without waterproof cases.. guess use photographers got more sense than this squirrel

Have you even tried the camera yourself with your "recommended settings"! Probably not, right?
"Diving mode ON" will turn your videos so red that you won't be able to correct them with any video editing program.
Image Stabilization ON: under water? Really? Have you ever compared the quality of the videos "with" and "without" this pseudo-stabilization? Especially when shooting underwater, the quality of the videos decreases dramatically!
Sorry, but all your suggestions about the settings here, show that you either never used the camera yourself, or simply have no idea about underwater shooting!
Show us even a single - really with Akaso recorded underwater video - not put together, heavily edited promotional videos, then maybe I believe it - have tested myself the Akaso V50 pro and Brave 7, both are "children's toys" - the video quality is (especially under water) just miserable!

I found that the quality on the brave 7 le looks really good when you download the videos to you phone but I do hate how zoomed in the video is I don’t know y the photo sating is so zoomed out and the video isn’t and ther is no way to zoom out the video
