    Are you always this cheerful and happy? I just ask because this is not how I tend to be during the homeschool day with my kids. So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong! How do you manage to be such a lovely person and still have kids to teach? I am ASTONISHED. What is your secret?! Btw THANK you so much for this video. I was on the fence about this but now I think I'm just going to go ahead and buy it for mine. I wonder if it will help be a jolly sweet mama like you?

      Hi Kelly! I am definitely NOT always like this during a normally homeschool day. Especially when I'm trying to work with one kid and I have 4 other ones crying or fighting in the background. 🤦 So don't worry mama! You're not doing anything wrong. ❤️ We have tears ands hard days just like every other homeschool family.
      I'm trying to convey that in my videos but I know it doesn't always come across well. I'm hoping to do a REAL day in the life video, showing the good, the bad, and the ugly so people know we're just like everyone else.... not perfect, but striving to be more like Christ every moment. ❤️ ❤️
      I'm glad this video helped! 😁

      Hi Samantha! Yes! I do skip the writing portions of TGTB and the editing exercises. The writing portions I skip because we're planning on doing Essentials with Classical Conversations and that is ALL about writing....so I'm not too worried about her writing right now. :)

I am just beginning TGTB Level 3 (doing a "survey" of it to see if it is something I want to do next fall :) I am planning to also do Fix It Grammar alongside of TGTB, but I am noticing TGTB has them keep a vocab journal, too (at least in Level 3)...did you have your little one also keep a vocab journal with TGTB and with Fix It Grammar? or just choose one?

    Hello, I'm looking into Fix It for my soon to be 4th grader. She knows her basic grammar pretty well, so do you recommend still starting with Level 1? Did Level 1 get a lot harder as she your daughter went through the book or did she finish it just as easily as this video? Thanks!

    • @PursuingPeace
      @PursuingPeace  Рік тому

      Hi! I would recommend still starting with Level 1 just so she grows accustomed to the way the curriculum works. The lessons are short so if she wants to do more than one lesson a day she definitely can. 😁

    This is level 1 Grammar. A manual to such basic level is kind of an overkill. It is somewhat sad to see a "teacher" refers back to the manual to check if the answers of her student is right. It makes you doubt the competency of the one teaching. I find that the manual isn't necessary at any level. You can skip it altogether and save some money and storage space if you wish to purchase Fix It Grammar for your kids. The Student Book will suffice provided you have a good understanding of rudimentary grammar, otherwise, it will be like a blind leading the blind. In that case, maybe you should let somebody else do the teaching OR educate yourself first before embarking on homeschooling your children.

    • @PursuingPeace

      Is everything ok? Is there something I can be praying about for you? ❤️

    • @sleepdeprivedmomma5888
      @sleepdeprivedmomma5888 5 місяців тому

      @PursuingPeace Pray for the future of the homeschooled kids of this generation that they will be competent and apt to face the challenges of the ever changing workforce. Pray that these children will not end up just flipping burgers and that they will reach their full potential and be great and wise leaders. And please pray for parents like you and I who decided to home educate our kids that we will strive for excellence so we could give our children a much better future. Homeschooling is intentional parenting on steroids. We need to educate ourselves all the time to be better teachers to our kids. We can't just pick up a book and start teaching it to them without first perusing it and getting us informed of what we are going to teach our kids. That's lazy teaching... and that's lazy parenting. And that's what I observed. I am an advocate for learning alongside our children. But for the love of Pete, we should at least have a better understanding of the fundamentals before we embark on such endeavor. And if not, what are we doing about it? Pray for wisdom and guidance! I am not coming from a place of hate. But I have such great passion for homeschooling that it's so annoying to see so many parents, especially after covid, embarking on this journey with less preparation. Homeschooling is a commitment we shouldn't take lightly. Pray that you shouldn't just jump to the conclusion that something is wrong with the person who had the boldness to criticize something in order for change to happen so that excellence is achieved.

    • @PursuingPeace
      @PursuingPeace  5 місяців тому +2

      You might not have meant it with hate, but that's how you're coming off. Your intentions might be good, but no one is going to take it well when you say they're lazy parents. If you truly have a passion for homeschooling, then you also need to know how to speak to those who homeschool. We're normal, every day parents who deeply love our children and work hard for them every day and don't deserve to be criticized harshly by someone who hardly knows us. If you truly care about this, then teach classes on grammar for homeschool moms or have a website where we can go to learn more. Be a part of the solution, because I'm sorry to say, right now you're just creating more problems.
      I normally don't say things this bluntly, but you seem like a person who can take criticism. I'm going to go homeschool and love my kids now so I won't have time to engage in this discussion any longer unless you learn to speak with love...and a filter.

    • @sleepdeprivedmomma5888
      @sleepdeprivedmomma5888 4 місяці тому

      I can take criticism. I hope you do, too. I hope I create in you a change... a desire to be better at what you do... to find the time to look at the books you're going to use to teach your child before you even begin the lesson. School teachers don't just show up at work without lesson planning. So why do we do it to our own children we are homeschooling? I have seen so many parents make excuses for not having the "time" so they just do the bare minimum homeschooling their kids. But if you look closely at how they spent their day you would see why they didn't have the "time". I didn't call you a lazy parent. There's a difference between lazy parenting and lazy parents. To call you a lazy parent is an attack on you, someone I clearly do not know. So just to be clear, I am not trying to attack your character or you as a person. It's unfortunate that that is how you perceived what I said. Lazy parenting, however. is what I observed in this video based on the unpreparedness of the home educator, and that was what my comment was about. We need to be able to take criticism and strive to be better... that is my hope for you.
