    Everything you described at the end about the game telling you how to beat specific things or how to tech throws is build into the replay system of the game. Every time you get hit the replays tell you exactly why you got hit

    Super ghost battle has been very helpful with finding flaws in my game play with characters I use, what I didn't know for a bit, was that the AI gets data from your online matches, not from offline, updating every 3 matches, after you do that for an hour or so, the AI can actually make a good copy of you, think of an infinitely more intelligent DVR

      It preety damn awesome to go back after some many online matches to see if you improve your gameplay. I will tell ya, it's humbling to get your ass steamrolled by your ghost character.

    I had some experience with Motion Capture for video games and gotta admit even though Namco has always created a seriously fluid and accurate movement animations and overall choreography for Tekkens in the past, (I think they were using MoCap before it was industry standard) They outdid themselves this time. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)

    The mode is cool and all, I just wish that the game told me it even fucking existed and was where the tutorial was. It's baffling how much effort they put into it and then just gave up on communicating that this is where the new players should go.

    @12:08 TBF, that's the point of the Main Techniques section of the move list. It's still a lot, but it's meant to show you what your gameplan should be like.

  • @Prydunable
    @Prydunable 7 місяців тому +4

    Interestingly enough, the complaint about more specific information when you lose (throw breaks, punishes etc etc) is actually in the game's replay system. You can rewatch any of your ranked matches and say if you get thrown, the replay freezes and gives you the throw break. Or freezes on moves you blocked and could have punished, but didn't, and recommends a particular punish based on the amount of -frames the opponent has. Recommended combos if you biff a big launch and freeze up. It even lets you take control of the replay itself and play as if the match was still going, letting you practice when they recommend in the context it's been recommended! Absolutely amazing system, and well worth looking into if you're going online quite a bit.

    Ive been playing the series for over a decade since T6BR and I still get knowledge checked pretty often. It was one of the reasons I switched to 2D fighters like Strive and Sf6 during T7. At least T8 is fresh and fun for now but Im not looking forward to studying all the new knowledge checks again.

    Tekken is only fun for the first few months for me. Once everyone has downloaded all the frame traps and pokes and they don't let you play anymore the game ends for me. This is why Tekken doesn't always have a big player population.

    2:30 it's not HARD, every fighting game is hard, and almost impossible to master, that's why there so few people have master rank in SF for example compared to all sales. But other games you can play even in online with minimum knowledge of the game, when in Tekken you HAVE to learn all moves you have, because you need to know what your character can do to NOT do it. Because a little mistake can easily cost you 1/3 or 1/2 of a health bar

    Just bought Tekken 8 because it looked like a lot of fun (and also because I wanted to see how insane the story would get) and after hearing this arcade mode, I might give it a shot. My biggest problem with Arcade Quest is that the game isn't learning how you're playing DURING the game, only in a random side area you have to actively participate in. If they can somehow pull it off now only will you be able to fight ghosts of your friends, you can play them like they did when they were at a certain rank to see how they've improved

  • @jteneb

    I’m in a quite similar situation as you. New tekken and picked Reina as my main. Yesterday I reached Dominator, so quite happy about it.
    I’m a big rage art punisher as well. Did you know you can punish it with a launcher like df2? You could get more damage like that, or also with a grab, which becomes untechable because it is a punish. That 35 damage with no effort at all

    Ngl I played a bit of AQ(30 minutes) then dropped it. It's only good for people who know absolutely nothing about Tekken and only wanna play a little bit. I say that cause as some one who wants to properly learn Tekken that tutorial barely helped me. That thing doesn't tell you how to break throws or your wake up options are or that buffering works differently here . I wish there was an intermediate tutorial so that I didnt have to go youtube for help.

    • @GomerJ
      @GomerJ 7 місяців тому +2

      Check out replay takeover. It will tell you all these things. It will say hey tech this throw with these buttons or try waking up with these moves or here's a few moves to punish that one.
      It's actually way more useful than AQ once you learn fundamentals.

      Don't listen to the doomers, you can totally play multiple characters. I have 4 mains I'm mighty ruler with and can pretty decently play 20 other characters in Tekken it all depends on what your brain is good at remembering I can't remember what I had for breakfast yesterday but combos I figured out with Ganryu 2 years ago are for some reason still perfect in my head.
      It also depends on how fast you adapt a decent Tekken player can without looking at the movelist or ever even seeing a character can within 5 or 10 matches have figured out all the primary moves to use and basic combos because there's a lot of overlap.
