Video on the making of a right-shaped pendant light with LED strips and reclaimed hardwood. End music : Walter Murphy, Rhapsody in Blue My Instagram : / oyymof
I'm a big fan of seeing craftsmen when they have an affinity for a particular tool, machine or skill… You sir have gone to the no.1 spot for most in tune with their router… and such a basic one too!
Finally, a UA-camr who knows how to make a perfect video. Also, friggin' hilarious. The sawdust angle had diet Pepsi squirting out my nose. Outstanding work. Cheers!
Amazed at how much I liked the lamp! Does it only have white LEDs? And man, it seems like a LOT of work to get there. Lastly I have never seen anyone so retentive about sawdust! LOL
Very cool..some great ideas for using the router. Hope you get sponsored buy a dust colloction company. FYI. You do get LED srtips that are made for sticking around a curve.
Nice video. How did you insulate the electrical connection - I may have missed something but it looked like power was supplied to the LEDs on the bare wire suspension cables (presumably at low voltage).
Thank you ! The suspension cables are actually covered in a transparent nylon layer which provide insulation. However, the voltage is indeed very low (12v) so it would be safe either way
Thank you very much ! It took approximately 4-5 days to make, but a lot of that time was waiting for the glue to dry. The electricity does indeed go through two of the holding wires, but it is perfectly safe, as it is only 12v (and the wires have a thin clear plastic coating). And I'm from France !
Hi, great design! But too much work for me (and not enough tools)... 🙈 I'd really love too use similar wiring for my own build, but I'm having a hard time finding the wires and connectors. Not even sure how it's called (low voltage wiring...?) and how too search for it. I found one reseller that has Teflon/FPE cables, they seem very similar too what you're using. But I've no info beyond that, not even how they would be connected. They don't sell the cable connectors your using either. If you'd be able too provide any info on the wiring part it would be greatly appreciated!
Hi ! I also had trouble finding them so I'm not sure what they are really called either. That said, I think they are not sold as some kind of electrical wiring, but just as "suspension cables" (I used them to pas the low-voltage current anyway). I couldn't find them at any hardware store, so I bought them on amazon, but I'm still not sure what the name was...
This question is asked elsewhere, but, yes, the power is passed over the hanging cables. It’s only 12V so it isn’t dangerous and the cables themselves have a thin plastic coating as well. It’s done the same way in similar commercially-produced lamps. You can see the 12V connection being made to the cable ferrules around 15:00.
Loved the idea but less process more cleaning in the video ,can u make again a detailed video on this one ... it is very hard to stay focused --- how did you hanged this to the wall
Voice over, even text laid onto the scenes would make this a much more informative video. Had I not already done many of those steps in other, separate projects, I might not know what you're doing, or how. This is little more than boasting about how good a carpenter you are. and you most certainly are not a bad one. But you could be a much better teacher.
Thank you fror your constructive criticism. I am aware that the lack of explanations can be annoying, but it was initially an attempt to do something different from most video tutorial. I thought it could be interesting in a "what is he doing now ?" kind of way... That said, I added text explanations in the videos I made after this one, so I hear you.
Any chance you could link to the products you used? I’m in particular curious about the led strips, the suspension/wires, and the transformer/inverter/controller... also, one thing I noticed: you filled some of the joints after glueing it together. The ‘clean’ way would be to not lift the blade (so that is is only slightly higher than the working piece) up as much when sawing, and have the pushing part that is behind the angled piece almost touching the blade, thus stopping the fibres ripping out in the back.
Hi ! Thanks for the advice ! I have a miter saw now, it's much more precise. The led strip is a 12v, 3000k, v2835, 60 LEDs/m dimmable strip. The transformer is a 30W, 2.5A 12V varicart LED driver. You might have to take a higher wattage depending on the lenght of led strip you intend to use. Both of these i bought off Amazon and am really satisfied with. The smart switch, I wouldn't recommend as I had some problems with it (and my lamp design made it difficult to access to reset). Beyond that, I am sorry to say that I can't find the references of the suspension wires again, but I also bought them on amazon. Good luck !
Why not glue the boards together and cut the circles out of those Instead of of cutting them into pieces and go through all the trouble of gluing and routing
Hi ! I bought this string system on Amazon if I recall correctly. Two of the strings are indeed passing current, but it is entirely safe as it is only 12 volts.
I don't usually watch videos where the presenter doesn't speak at all but this one was enjoyable to watch, start to finish. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the tip.
I'm a big fan of seeing craftsmen when they have an affinity for a particular tool, machine or skill… You sir have gone to the no.1 spot for most in tune with their router… and such a basic one too!
Not to mention the broom!
I love the ASMR aspect along with the beauty of the piece. So satisfying and peaceful! ❤️🙏🏾
Wow I really liked this build. You did it with basic tools AND it's reclaimed material. I'd love to give this a shot.
Is it a bird ? Is it a plane ? No, it’s just an amazing maker. Great job and editing as usual !
After watching this video, I feel the need of a router in my life. Salut et merci, oyymof!!!
Awesome, love your dust collection, so old school. . Thanks for sharing
Stunning.. huge effort creating an ingenious piece of art with modern tech 👌👌👌👌👌
Really well done job! Very clever solutions and techniques!
I guess the worst that could happen if is someone ordered 3 of those lamps :D
He is not done he forgot to add a fan.

Wow! Awesome stuff made whitout “awesome” tools! Good job bro’!!! 👍

The wiring design is very clever👍
very inventive with the round jigs.
I will be looking at tossed aside furniture with a different eye now.
so your jig is on the top of your workpiece but the bearing guider for your router bit is on the bottom....?
WOW, not bad. I love it.
Very high degree of skill required.
I like your video editing skills, great job!
Hey it is really beautiful how are you so talented 😍😍
Echt Toll gemacht, gefällt mir sehr gut. 👍👍👍
Good job!
Very very nice! 👏👏👏👏

I did not know that, it would have saved some trouble haha. And I can only wish for free dust collection ! Thanks !
He simply could have attached that strips to both sides of the channel.
Very Nice ! 😉👍🏽
Keep it up, nice video clip, thank you for sharing it :)

Hello, really nice light fixture.
Capolavoro, bravissimo!
Ingenious and beautiful, well done.
No it is not done he did not make a fan.
Rhapsody in blue, disco version. I've heard of other pieces from Walter Murphy this is new to me. Anyway very good work. How long was the project?
Excelente!
hello, what is the wood to use?
he has very beautiful designs!
thank you for your video.
Un must see incontestable
WOW great job!
Very nice work! How long did it take? The electricity goes through the thin holding wires, or how does it work? Where are you from btw? :)
@@TheBjargu Nice work, again. What is the next project? :)
wow nice, but............ IS IT POSSIBLE AT HOME
Yes, all we have these heavy tools at home 😂😂
very successful, congratulations. what nib are you using at 13:40?

More than excellent 👌
Yo dude do u sell these ? Was awsome build quality and i love tree
very beautiful
Why did xou not use an Vacuum?
Awesome
Fantastic
At one point I thought if he's making a ring pendent or a wooden well.!!
Simply beautiful!,,new subs & fan here!
what do you call the cable you used
Hermosa 🤩
What product is it in the wood to make it shiny?

Where did you buy those metal strings that hold the lamp? Also that metal string is passing current? Is it safe?

Thank you ! It is a clear polystyrene sheet. But I now think acrylic could have been better for this part

Macalister tools rule. Almost all my tools are from mac .
14:53 what is this?
Hi ! That is a part of the suspension system. That part gets attached to the piece to be suspended, then the wire is screwed to it.
How can you say this is homemade, with ALL of these machines?
J’achète !
Très lourd

How the duck that's a homemade? You live in a workshop. Those are not a tools that common folks have in home.
Love the woodwork, but I just think LED lights are so soulless.
