- In this video, I will go through the different sounds available on this beautiful Sire Marcus Miller P7 5 (2nd generation) 5 string bass. This video will also feature DR Black Beauties coated strings 125-45 and I will discuss the application where I feel these strings would excel.
*Quality headphones or speakers are recommended. Apologies in advance, there were a few spots where I clipped the signal going in and didn't notice until post production. Sorry.
The bass was recorded direct through a Line6 Pod Go. For the solo'd tonal demonstration, the bass was recorded without any amp or cabinet simulation, direct to the computer. No EQ or compression was added in post.
When played with a drum track, a model of the GK800RB was used.

I actually think this sounds better than the P10. Great demo. SOLD!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
I bought one. I love it. I possibly over paid. $800.00 but I'm happy with my purchase. I have one just like that one. Just a natural body.
It’s a great bass! It seems the resale value on sires isn’t the best but the performance to price is outstanding!
Thanks for watching!
I have one exactly like this P7 5s 2nd Gen. I put a set of HipShot tuners on it to decrease the weight and eliminate neck-dive. I love it.
That’s awesome! Glad you had a good experience with it! Thanks for watching!!
Very good demonstration. thank you.

I really like your video the way you talk is clear and informative and calm. Could you review bacchus bass in the future?
Thanks so much for watching and for your encouragement! Bacchus is pretty rare in Canada/ North America but I’ll see what I can find!
I just bought one arrives Wed.
Awesome! Thx for watching!
Where did you get that t-shirt? I love it.
I got a bunch of different music related shirts from TeePublic.
Thx for watching and commenting!
@@jonathanwong458music Thank you for responding. That is a MUST have T-Shirt 🙂
@@SplitHairz I’m a P bass guy, so absolutely!!
it would be nice if L&M carried Sire. Thanks for the video.
Hi! Thanks for watching! There used to be a music store in Winnipeg that carried Sires. Unfortunately fallen to economic struggles…..always nice to be able to try them locally. Check out cosmo music if you’re near the Toronto area! They have Sires.
Strings are very brite i used them before...im thinking Labella
Can’t go wrong with Labellas!
I put Thomastics on mine...happy me
Sorry! But isn't it the P8?
P8 is the newer model.
There is so much hype about this bass. I finally bought one and it was a total disappointment. Mine came from zZounds where basically you order and they send one to you from a warehouse somewhere and they do not inspect it at all first. You get what you get. What I got was this beautiful looking 5 string bass and that is where the magic ended. The fretboard had 5 very high frets and the action was set high trying to compensate for that fact but did not. The batteries in the one I received were dead. After replacing those I could not get the actives to work. If I tried rolling the blend control forward to the P neck pickup instant distortion. If you touched that knob it would cut off. The bass control I could not move to active either. Instant distortion crackle and squeal so something wired very wrong in that bass. The neck is wider than it has to be. It did not feel comfortable at all. The stacked knobs stick out way too far and are basically n accident waiting to happen. The controls themselves are not intuitive and are awkward. Compared to my Fender V the pickups in this bass in passive are weak comparatively. I have read other reviews about people returning these because they can not seem to dial in a good sound with the active controls and just gave up. I'm sticking with my Fender. Knock Fender if you will but it played right out of the box and sounds like a Fender. This does not. Not even close. This Sire went right back to zZounds and I will not try another one.
Oh man....that's terrible. I'm so sorry to hear of your bad experience. As I understand it, I think Sire's location of manufacturing recently changed. Definitely not an excuse, but maybe that's a factor. The bass in the video belongs to a friend and it's from the early 2nd gen batch. The owner's been quite pleased with it.
I really hope you get all your money back.
That sucks.
I like mine so far..price is 25 % of Fender
I think you have been unlucky. I have a P7 5, a P5 5, a V7 5 and an M7 6 all 2nd gens. All of them were close to perfect when I recieved them. The M7 I had to adjust the Trussrod a tiny bit to get the string height I like, but that´s all. Now you can soon get Stingray inspired Z series and Fodera inspired F series.
Fan of Sire, not fan of Black Beauties . . .
Re black beauties. Yeah, mixed reviews. I think this Sire would sound good regardless of string choice
What strings come with it?
