I'd put ABACAB really high too. I like a lot of the songs off Genesis: Mama, That's All, Home By The Sea/Second Home By The Sea, Silver Rainbow, It's Gonna Get Better. I still wouldn't rate it as highly as some of their other efforts because it doesn't sound like a cohesive album to me. I feel the same way about Invisible Touch. It feels more like a collection of singles and radio songs - mostly very good ones, but I miss that album experience their earlier efforts up to Abacab tended to have. This is why I actually prefer We Can't Dance over Invisible Touch and Genesis: it feels more cohesive, and more like a proper album. Even if it does suffer from being overly long, like many releases from the early CD era. You could cut 10-15 minutes from the album and it would actually make the whole thing better.

The 80’s Genesis albums are incredibly underrated. Abacab and Genesis are brilliant. Invisible Touch was a pop tour de force. We Can’t Dance was too adult-contemporary for me.

oh yeah absolutely no Gabriel-bias here.. I am way more of a fan of Pete's solo works as a whole than his time with Genesis, The Lamb was the best thing he did with them. I also do not understand the Abacab hate, people are such followers, it's like all genesis fans rally together and decided collectively that abacab is bad and to be a proper fan you're supposed to hate that album... buncha morons
@@DancingwithGhosts Agreed, and btw, love that you give a special shoutout to 32 Doors, it might be my and my brother's favorite Genesis song. Like you said you can hear what Pete would become and also if you choose to interpret it that way, you can really hear and see it as a cry for help from someone who feels trapped with nowhere to go and no one to help them, kinda like Pete did in the band by the end. It makes it a lot more powerful through that lens than it already was.

lol sorry, i'm more into the synth-y stuff
@@DancingwithGhosts Synths?!?!!???!???? Ok unsubbed
@@gdmatter2286 lol bye
Foxtrot is my number one, Can Utility is as good as Suppers Ready in my book, I know I know. I also really love Trespass a lot, I'd go as far to say that I like it more than Nursery Cryme. I like everything except the first and the last albums to be honest, We Cant Dance has some duds though.
I'm not sure how Selling England can be S tier if you don't really like half the album.
because the songs i do like are absolute classics
I would love to see you do this for Pink Floyd.
The 80’s Genesis albums are incredibly underrated. Abacab and Genesis are brilliant. Invisible Touch was a pop tour de force.
We Can’t Dance was too adult-contemporary for me.
i like we can't dance but yes very much in the adult contemporary vein... also, aside from no son of mine and jesus he knows me, the rest of the album feels pretty sleepy
Very good tier list
Imho I think you're a little too hard on Calling All Stations and DEFINITELY too hard on Wind and Wuthering - that album is a banger, but honestly I think rightfully recognizing Abacab as S tier is more than enough for me to applaud this video. Thanks for being a voice of reason on this. Cannot believe how many people rate that album as one of the worst - cheers to you for not having a Gabriel bias.
oh yeah absolutely no Gabriel-bias here..
Trick of the Tail best - Full of beautiful melodies and stories Worst - Invisible Touch - I abhor the song Invisible Touch
Not even the ghosts will dance with you if Genesis is playing.
shit, i wouldn't either.. all hail Genesis!
ayyyyy i love ABACAB too. Its a pop masterpiece unlike the Shapes Record.
NurserCryme is brilliant, Foxtrot is overrated
Trick of the Tail is maybe their best
Bruh slippers ready is literally like, 23 or 24 minutes long, and nursery cryme in b tier is a bit 🙈
slippers ready? i haven't heard that one before.. sounds comfy though
Calling All Stations is NOT as bad as people make. It's the cool thing to hate on it,it's not the worst.
its not bad as an album its just bad as a Genesis album
WORST: Abacab
BEST: A Trick Of The Tail
You don't rate The Cinema Show??? Go stand in the corner will ya! And Tony never sang any lead vocals on a Genesis album, lol.
But you were on point with The Lamb so thank you for that.
Akkksshuuaalllyyy Tony Banks did sing some lead on this Genesis song, though granted it was never on an official album but i'm still half right!

I agree 90%
noooo - abacab in position S ??? -
i absolutely love ABACAB
It's a shame
Dude you slagged off In Too Deep & Phil, it was written by Tony Banks.
You also complained about Behind the Lines, another song Phil wrote for Face Value which Genesis used, not other way around.
Just 2 of many bad criticisms
ooohhh my friend you are so wrong about that second comment.. look it up.. Behind the Lines was originally on Duke and then a sped up, funkier version was used on face value.. duke even came out before face value.. i almost feel like you're trolling me with how incorrect you are on that fact.
@@DancingwithGhosts Yes you're totally correct
great video!!!!
and nursery cryme move to A
I'd say that "s" stands for superior, not satisfactory 😂
yep
Gabriel Genesis is amazing. 80’s Genesis sounds like music for a yuppie car commercial. Yawn.....
In Finland there actually is a car commercial with invisible touch on the background... Lol
Their best album is Nursery Cryme, only good songs.
Beyond dinosaurs 😂😂😂
Rank Bowie albums!
wind & wuthering at least A
S = Superior
Abacab is underrated and overrated at the same time! Foxtrot, Duke, Abacab and Wind And Withering were my fav.
Trespass-we can’t dance :)
man sleeping hard on attwt
Abacab better than Foxtrot...No fucking way! Side 2 of Abacab is bad pop garbage!
abacab blows
Instant disslike! Abacab is their worst
oh what a baby!
Abacab sucks
lies
