Love Sean's - spent 15 days driving Ireland. Athlone and Seans was one of my favorite stops. Great Country, people and beer. Slainte' from Buffalo, New York USA
Coins from the 10th century (as well as the original owner) were found in the walls during renovations in the 1970s. The walls were made of wattle and wicker. The floors are also sloped because the river Shannon used to flood. They could just open the other doors to let the water flow out.
Also The Hut in Phibsboro has the best pint of Guinness in Dublin! Real old mans bar. So much so that the Women’s bathroom is basically in the house next door. You can have any pint you want once it’s Guinness!
@@oscarosullivan4513 it’s just a very old pub. Women back in the day didn’t go to the pub. It’s not like they don’t let them in now. Anyway they do an amazing pint of Guinness. Highly recommend.
Please can you do more towns, Sunday or Monday night Winter reviews....like Trim, Longwood, Drogheda, Dunshaughlin etc videos (17 mins +)....they are your BEST imo
The daytime barman is the craic. If you go through to the back courtyard, they have some amazing food. Incredible burger, even. Great trad sessions in the evening. I love Sean’s. We always stoop between the Galway/Dublin runs.
Here's a weird coincidence. I met ya in the garage yesterday evening after you'd been to Seans. I was on my way to a wedding. And the 1st dance was "rainy night in Soho" If ya go back to athlone check out flannerys.
@@daraghcurran i know. Very spooky. Anyway nice to meet ya. Loving the vids. Especially the one from Vienna. I was only there a few weeks ago myself. Didn't try a guinness anywhere though. Stuck to the local stuff lol. I'll try the long hall next time I'm there.
There's plenty of cracking pints in around the north-inner city of Dublin and surrounding areas yet to review. Gaffney's, McGrath's, Cleary's, Grainger's (Talbot St) Cusack's, Brannigan's, Delahunty's, The Hut (Phibsborough)... and I'm sure there's more. Love the channel btw, slainte!
Hello Sir Taster of the Pints. My friend and I once ended up there by chance, in the oldest pub in Ireland, on the way home from Tara and Knowth! Speaking of home, I’m from Inishbofin off Galway, if you want to sample the pints you should visit in the summer when all the bars are open because all except one close for the winter.
Your score is on point. I would have saying 8.2 or the highest 8.5 . As for the pub it's one of them places on everyone's bucket list. Shannon harbour is only 20 minutes away from athlone and banagher 25 minutes. Shannon harbour is the end of the canal from Dublin before it enters the river shannon. Hough's pub in banagher is another must see pub with a good pint of Guinness
8.5. Savage score if you’ve been following since day 1, pretty much standard if you’ve followed the last few months. You must have had too many cans in lockdown Guru and now they all taste great 😂
This channel has me wanting to try a Guinness in Ireland now. I'm from the US and I'm not sure how I stumbled upon your videos but I have watched several. The only experience with Guinness I've had has been from a bottle and it smelled like Soy Sauce and I was instantly put off. I've heard the Guinness here is awful in comparison, next time I go to the UK I'll try to get to Ireland and try a proper pint. Cheers!
@guinnessguru , big fan of the page, started originally watching during lockdown, you should come to Charleville on the edge of north cork, over 10 bars in a small town with some of the best Guinness around and a great atmosphere in each bar!
Jeez can’t believe you didn’t know the song playing was Rainy Night In Soho by the Pogues🙄Looks a great pint. When you coming to Castlebar and review the Cobweb and John McHales??Great pints👌👌

I have a hard time believing Guinness hasn’t achieved the ability to travel well. The pint I get in California is the same product. I’ve heard as much from people that have traveled. It’s the atmosphere that makes any good drink worth it. One thing I think the US got down is whiskey. I’d much rather drink bourbon than any Irish whiskey. But if I’m drinking Guinness, you bet I’m asking for Redbreast.
Mate we need you to do a proper tour of London… most of the pints are absolute dog shit down here, can count places that serve decent Guinness on one hand
Not only is it the oldest bar in Ireland but, according to Google, it’s the oldest continuously operational bar in the WORLD 🤯

Crazy sat there where people have sat for over a thousand years doing exactly the same. Part of history there, definitely going there one day 🙏
This blows my mind coming from Australia where the oldest pub is 1815 so almost 1000 years on it
