It's likely ripped from Rock Band or Guitar Hero, whichever of those lameass games Metallica released to. Not exactly sure how it works but I think it has something to do with only playing one instrument correctly at a time so the others fall out and you're left with the single tracks for each instrument. Since the games use the masters and not the mixed versions it can drop instruments without "karaoke-ing" it. Then you can take it track by track and remix it yourself, which is what it sounds like to me.
Either that or this guy got his hands on a copy of the original masters, which is unlikely.
