So much easier if you release the hood stay and lay the hood gently back against the wind shield, you can see what you are doing. Release the retaining clip (spring) on the upper stay with a narrow screwdriver. Don't do this on a windy day or maybe get a friend to hold the hood firm against the wind. Most filters the stripes go vertically not horizontally as shown in this video. Very tricky getting the filter to slide into the slots correctly, it positions away from the engine not towards it. The air flow arrow on the filter points away from the engine. The two tabs throw you off, they are nothing to do with positioning the filter. One of the most frustrating things I have ever done on a vehicle. Good luck, it can be done. Video was very helpful. Thank you.
John Winter you are absolutely correct! Laying the hood back was easy and made it so much easier to see exactly where the filter goes. I ended up laying the hood back against the garage door opener. When I was trying to do this without the hood back I thought it was going to be impossible to get the filter in correctly. Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the video ! Dealer wanted $50 to change the engine filter and $70 to change the cabin filter. No Thanks I'll do it myself now that i watched the video!!
Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went into Harry's and he ordered three T66 turbos with NOS... and a Motec system exhaust.
I literally did this with one hand lol remove first cover, remove second cover, removing the inner plastic tab is easy if you reach with palm of hand facing front of car and use the Fuck you finger to release tab to remove second cover, remove filter. After that, release the hood stay piston with a little screwdriver and hold hood with left hand, with your right hand install filter, it is 100 times easier with hood out of the way, just slides in there. Push piston back onto hood pivot ball and install covers. Takes about 2 minutes.
