@POPWARisSick He also used realism. That's the art of his that I liked. I get very little from cubism. There are occasions, but for the most part, I like realistic or impressionistic art.

Cubism wasnt invented by a single person in fact, he and Braque were pioneers but the basis for it came from Cezanne, in his last paintings he was already a cubist.
Then came Juan Gris and gave it the synthetic touch, more carefully composed, more flat design, etc..

@trinitaterion The Tragedy, The Guitarist, Celestina...Seems rather competent to me.

God I hate this new format. I just wanted to reply to something some mentioned earlier about why did the critics hate on him for painting what he wanted to later in his life. So what if it didn't resemble his earlier works. That's his artistic right.

wrong. He was finger painting at best. Amateurish and sloppy. He needed the money and made shit paintings that he tried to sell to idiots with ZERO sence of actual talent. It is why he died poor. He was a poser at best. Tricked a lot of fucking untalented morons who couldn't see talent if it was sticking out of their asses. Later IDIOTS were convinced he was a genius. Typical payola/post-mortum to cash in on something that was absolutely a waste of money and time.

@MyRicardo1981 Eh, I've always preferred realism and impressionism to cubism. As a realist, Picasso rocked.

God bless him but the late art critic Hilton Kramer embodies everything that is wrong with art criticism. In utter pomposity he's bashed Basquiat whose contribution to art history is "nil" and here he bashes Picasso's take on Valasquez a painting that set the world record at auction! LOL

So many people committed suicide after his death maybe even because of his death... how sad... Pablo, I am no artist but I respect you so much.

puff ouff puff pretentious winds...he had a great quality that VELASQUEZ DID NOT. I refer not to the sloppiness of drawing...because the modern revolution in art had really so manmy elements that were wed for good or ill, and that is opinion if you like or not, but what is objective is COLOR. His colors are not dark and old dutch like. they are greens and blues and whites and THAT is so much better than pompous old masters. I am a fan of it, if you dont agree.so he is better in that way.

I wdn't to be Picasso.I'm a painter,Picasso didn't to work hard to be a Great artist.so,when the things run like that you don't get how the life is working, working at the end you got what you allways you been seachin' for.Sorry folks 'bout my english and i don't really know what did i say to my friend Ray Charles is true or not.Anyway ,what is the true?

Why do people always have to compare late with early works? That's where he was at the time, that's what he wanted to paint, that's his prerogative!
