For Gill, this is his first ICC event apart from 2 WTC finals in which he didn’t set the stage on fire! So he is still yet to perform in big games compared to Rohit and Warner who are proven match winners.
For Shaheen, he had competition in this team from Starc and Boult ! And these Trans-Tasman quicks have an impeccable ODI record, so couldn’t pick him.
