I would like to say a big thank you. I have learnt so much from you. You really are an inspiration. And to never give up . I now have the confidence to keep going . So once again thank you
Hi Mark, 👋 i think it was definitely the right decision to scrape . You can tell you're used to bigger canvases now 😂 a little less of the blue paint and it would have been perfect 👌 🎉
Beautiful! Love the second try very much! Truly a rainbow. Thanks for showing me that it’s ok to scrape and start over. It’s only paint, I tell myself!
Wow! The finished piece looks like a volcanic eruption with rainbow coloured lava! 🌋🌈 Love it!🤩😍❤️ Thank you for showing your process there. It's really educational to see you change your mind, and how you altered the piece more into what you first had in mind. Great work!👏 ❤️
Great piece. I love the way u show us how to start over if yr not happy with the results. I have to agree with u it turned out so much better. Great video Mark.
I have to say that I liked the first one; however, I really like the final version. I especially liked you showing how an artist can change their course mid-stream and make something even more beautiful than before. Thanks for showing that part. I truly appreciate it and will remember your words the next time something just isn't right to my artist's eye. Denise ❤
Wow Mark, this piece is stunning! I'm glad you started all over again. The first design, somehow, didn't have the brilliant vibes that the end result has. Maybe with a different colour palette the first design would be the better outcome, who knows. Anyways, it was good to see the whole process, as it proofs that it's always worth it to keep on trying even if you have to start again with the base. Great job 🖒💖
Love your honesty and commitment to getting your piece the way you want it. I’ve had some where I’m not sure I like it but I think, “Let it dry to really see.” Then of course I still don’t like it and then I trash it. Wasted more paint than if I had scraped it and had that paint as a base for a spin out or something. The second version turned out beautifully, vibrant. ❤
I’m watching for the 3rd time… I’m gonna try a P&W blow out right now. I gave up a while back bc it just wasn’t working for me. I needed more inspiration and instructions and a dose of luck 🤞
Just when you were expressing how you didn’t like how the painting was going, I was saying, “Meh” in my head. It was pretty, but it didn’t say anything to me. But you are the artist. This wasn’t a commissioned piece that had to look a particular way, so why spoil your painting fun by accepting an entire piece that doesn’t make you happy? The new painting is alive. There is motion and all the colors are pretty much following along. The vibrancy of the colors is amazing, and the difference in shading of a color depending whether it’s on the black or white adds interest. For example, I’m looking at the green line near middle - it reminds me of a river. It’s a little darker when it’s narrow and silty. But when it opens up, the color becomes bright and clear and more varied in its tones - just as when a river opens wider and flows faster. The silt is left behind and the pure clear water is what you see. I’m the type of person who sees shapes in the linoleum floor, so what I said above is like looking at one spot on the floor. This is what I think of the entire floor, um, I mean painting. The black needs to go at the bottom because I see a volcano of joy. Each color and shade represents how people experience joy. No two people are exactly the same and no area of color is absolute identical to another, but each color is close enough to its source that there is cohesiveness. The color can also be seen as the thing that elicits that joy. It could be looking at your painting hanging in a place of prominence, playing with your children or grandchildren, watching your dog frolic in the snow, free falling from an airplane, anything can stimulate joy. Some people are like Tigger. Their joy is very obvious - you can see it burst into the sky like the lava shooting up from the volcano’s crater. Others are less extroverted. You can usually see their joy in their eye or maybe facial expression (and yes, Mark, your “grumpy face” while you work is really an expression of joy). This type of joy is meandering down the side of the volcano, but is no different than the joy being shot up and out of the crater. This was not a “complicated” painting. One look was all it took for me to understand the meaning (to me) and that is enough. It provoked a reaction and that makes it a masterpiece! Well done, Mark. Kudos for pressing on until you achieved your desire. Speaking of masterpieces, you now look like a master artist with your apron! 🙂
@ I’ve rewatched the video and just wanted to thank you for this piece. I do feel joy when I see it and that is not an emotion I feel very often. It’s also helped me understand the idea of being in the moment a little better - and that’s a really nice place. 💚

As an artist, you have to do the piece until you are pleased.
Yes I totally agree 👍🏻
Lovely transition!
Thank you Lisa 🤩

I think you would need more paint on your base to allow the colors to flow on top 🙏🤩
