This is peak arrogance, it was by the Ascians' hands that the tragedy took place that destroyed their own peoples and they say mortals are unfit to defend the star.

I must say, out of all the final zones they could've gone with, this one's the one I _least_ expected. Certainly far more "chill" compared to the final zones of previous expacs (ie. HW or SB). I like it.
I had been spoiled of the zone name before I got there and expected it to be a cross between Garuda and Azys Lla, an unexpected but welcome surprise indeed. So many great songs this expansion.
I found it disappointing they removed all the water. Like... All of it. Needed to see some in chasms or something. I found this expansion had way too many generic brown dungeons too. Asyz Lla was way more mind blowing.
With a name like "The Tempest" I expected something ominous and threatening, especially given the situation of everything when you first get there, and given that it was the last zone in the expansion. But perhaps it is poetic. The waters are calm and the music is as well. The civilization that once thrived here is long gone, and so too are the tempests that once raged here.
This was the absolute best place they could've taken the story to. Everything seemed to be falling into despair, with you yourself falling into a figurative "abyss" of your own, along with the full knowledge of the ascians' tragedy. All accompanied by this somber and emotionally evocative guitar and piano piece. I love how Shadowbringers really captured the bleakness of FFXIII-2, up to music, scenery, and even color palettes. They really knocked it out of the park.

It's incredibly alluring with a hint of deep sadness and a rising crescendo that invokes a sense of hope. This has literally moved me to tears. My gaming background extends beyond two decades and I am blown away by the sheer polish and passion this game oozes in everything from the story, characters, worlds and the incredible music score. Thank you SE for creating one of the most memorable gaming experiences I've ever had and sharing this masterpiece with the gaming community. You have raised the bar to what an MMO expansion should be. And to think, this game almost didn't get a 2nd chance and now look at what it has become ….incredible!!
This song just floors me in a way that my brain can’t even process. For the first 15 minutes down here I was literally just slack-jawed at all of it and the scenery. It’s just so goddamn good. Major kudos to everyone who worked on this fantastic expansion, and especially to Soken for composing banger after banger.
I wish I could put my finger on what makes this track so magical to me. The Spanish Guitar and the light raindrop notes have this nautical feel. I never get enough of this. It's almost been two years since release, I get a nostalgic feeling like it's a song from the distant past, or maybe even another life. I like to replay the FFXIV storyline on alts from time to time, and whenever I get to the Tempest I just want to slow down and take in the moments, even though I know how it ends, I'm always hesitant to move on to the end.
Y'know for most of the main story Ahm Araeng had my favorite music. So chilled out and relaxing, but also very sad at the same time. When you get to The Tempest this music hits you like a sack of bricks. So much anguish and longing. It makes me tear up every time I listen. Then you get to the second half and it picks up. The sounds of hope and triumph. I wonder who that's for...myself, the warrior of light, or is it for Emet Selch, our immortal enemy and oldest friend?
@@krasussien Blizzard pretty much destroyed themselves but FF XIV stepped up their game big time. I was a WoW player for over 10 years and last year made the switch. So glad I did. I grew up on FF starting with V. I miss the community I played with in WoW but that's about it. Looking forward to future FF patches and expansions :)

best final zone in the game by a long shot thanks to this music, it works so perfectly to compliment the natural area and then takes on a whole new meaning when you reach the ascian city... really impressive story telling
I flat out cried when I got here. The pacing of this is outstanding, from the last fight, to being hit with that sack of bricks right after that fight. Finding out I'm dying and turning. Then you get here. And Bam this bucking music, I couldn't do it. I cried. This patch is freaking amazing.
Not gonna lie, when I heard Emet-Selch saying that we will meet at Tempest, I expected all sorts of things. I expected something dark and possibly, angry. But instead all I see is sadness and pain of not willing to let go what was lost long ago. Lament of life long lost. A silent cry for help that will never come. Not willing to move on, wish to return things back the way they were. But it's not full of tears - those tears have been shed long-long ago. What is left is just a memory, founded by creation magic. Tempest, while looks kinda drab and dark is all colours of blue. Which is perfect for its themes. I so wish more stories could get this much out of music and visual style alone.

I can't even begin to express how much I love this theme, and the very closely-related one that shows up in the southern part of The Tempest. It's part playful joy, and part eternal melancholy, and i love both sides of it. This is one of the few areas in which I've exhausted all the quests, mainly because I wanted to hear more of this while making up for the wrong done to the fishmen of the First.
After all that happened after the Innocence fight I spent the following 30 minutes just crying listening to the Crystarium's theme. Coming here after all that was so relieving for me, it was a such a soothing experience. That's why this song has got a special place in my heart.
I wish I could experience uncovering and exploring the mysteries surrounding the entirety of The Tempest for the first time again. I've never felt such amazment and wonder quite like what I felt in this game or any other form of media that I can remember. This game truly is a masterpiece.
The perfect song to pace you along to a story that was rapidly approaching its climax, that you felt something was building up. This song helped the final zone of the expansion feel final. I didn't get that in Stormblood, I didn't really get that in Heavensward. This unlocked at a great pace, introduced you to the area and strung you along until you meet with the final area. What I wouldn't give to re-experience this expansion fresh, not new game + fresh but actually fresh. This is honestly one of the best games I had the privilege to play.
They did a great job connecting the feeling the music gives off and the events that happen in this area. This whole expansion was a great success if a bit more dramatic then needed but this is final fantasy, if there was nothing overly dramatic they didn't make a final fantasy game.

That darkness remains in itself, the life that once managed to progress and I wish to survive. You may not understand it yet. But in this place only empty shells of individuals live ... It is simply ephemeral how a great life collapses. We never decided to really die, but circumstances are involved in an endless cataclysm of tragedies. We cannot fight something that is superior, we are simply victims of those who believe or believe us. We are homeless dreamers, but we form one to survive.
It is difficult to pick a favorite song from FFXIV, especially considering how amazing the Shadowbringers soundtrack is. But this one... wow... very high on the list. I remember it from doing the story and how tragic and sad it was. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about it for some time afterward as I moved on and did other things in the game. It wasn't until I came back a bit later as a miner and botanist that this song grabbed me by the soul and refused to let go. The Tempest has a lot of valuable collectible nodes, and I remember tapping my foot to this song while sitting on my mount waiting for the node to spawn, and I would be in awe at the underwater theme and the shadowy reflections. It's perfect.
Honestly, the best end-zone Shadowbringers could ever have. It was so fucking brilliant, so fucking unexpected yet really fitting. And... calm. One of the best zone.
For some reason when I arrived this beautiful area I already knew the music by heart, though I have no memory of listening to it before (I avoided spoilers like the plague). Not the first time that that shit happens to me, and I bet I'm not the only one.
Funny how there's already a song in XIV called "Tempest", about Nael van Darnus trying to bring an end to the world. Then along comes The Tempest area with its themes about the Ascians trying to bring back their own world.
At first I hate this zone when I arrived, didn't give me the feel of a final zone, and I couldn't quite figure out what the music was supposed to make me feel. But it's amazing how after finishing the game my opinion on this zone has done a complete 180 and it's now my favorite zone and I find the music perfectly fitting. The way this zone was crafted was very clever, and a perfect way to close-up the story.
I love how this theme is a broken version of the Amaurote dungeon one. I love how you only get glimpses of it when walking through the Tempest. Just like echoes from a distant past which has been lost through time. Just like pieces of the souls that once were, and are now broken and shattered, only to be hinted at within a few measures from times to times, as if they were desperately saying "remember that we once lived".
This is such a good song. There aren't very many covers of it on youtube. That makes me sad. I just started learning it. Getting that first arpeggio has 5 strings in it and I'm having a hard time haha.
I remember when me and my buddy first zoned in to the tempest we sat and talked for 45min before we did anymore msq and decided that this place would be our private meet area.2months later found a spot to just sit and talk after guild duties and raiding.

I’m avoiding the comments on this vid because I don’t want spoilers, but wanted to throw out there that, of all the AMAZING themes I’ve heard in this expansion, this is my favorite. When it started as I first arrived during a cutscene I was like “whoa okay I hope Mekkah Dee got this one”
HW's final zone was an ominous floating continent, SB had a mountainous salt flats, and Shb now has an underwater land akin to the Coral Highlands from Monster Hunter World and Sylvalum from Xenoblade X
I played the MSQ to 6.0 2 times (now I am almost done with my 3rd, and my 4th character just got through the bloody banquet :v ), and every time I am at the tempest I had the same feeling: the wanderlust, the vagabond-ness, exploration. The exoticness of the underground sea, the guitar, it is as if I am in another world. It is all so...... therapeutic. I always look forward to my pilgrimage to Amaurot each playthrough. Nothing beats that, not even the world unsundered, or the final duel. :)
Just found out about Ariel's song from Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Feels like the name for this track, Full Fathom Five, and the area itself, where inspired by that poem from the play. The stuff you learn. Felt like listening to the song again. Had to post this finding somewhere.
Oh, I don't know if you're aware but Kholusia has a different daytime theme if you go back there after defeating the final boss. Legit my favourite of the new zone themes. Would appreciate muchly if you were to upload it. :D

We caused a localized ecological disaster just for this zone to exist. We did that. With Bismarck's help, and as a means to an end, but the Ondo and wildlife in this part of the ocean will literally never live in water again, because we had to come down here to fight an eons-old tyrant. And we still haven't fixed this zone even now, years after 5.0's release. Some heroes we are.
There's a version of the Tempest/Amarout melody that's plays in Crystal Tower at the Elidibus battle que area. I just got there yesterday and been trying that version all day.

It is difficult to pick a favorite song from FFXIV, especially considering how amazing the Shadowbringers soundtrack is. But this one... wow... very high on the list. I remember it from doing the story and how tragic and sad it was. Unfortunately, I had forgotten about it for some time afterward as I moved on and did other things in the game. It wasn't until I came back a bit later as a miner and botanist that this song grabbed me by the soul and refused to let go. The Tempest has a lot of valuable collectible nodes, and I remember tapping my foot to this song while sitting on my mount waiting for the node to spawn, and I would be in awe at the underwater theme and the shadowy reflections. It's perfect.
Honestly, the best end-zone Shadowbringers could ever have. It was so fucking brilliant, so fucking unexpected yet really fitting. And... calm.

For some reason when I arrived this beautiful area I already knew the music by heart, though I have no memory of listening to it before (I avoided spoilers like the plague). Not the first time that that shit happens to me, and I bet I'm not the only one.
8 months late but I just beat the game and felt that
I just arrived at this area and had the same feeling like I already knew the music. Then it dawned on me.
Oh I'm back in Zora's Domain.
This is the same melody as the bar theme from Buscarron's Druthers, so there's that.

Funny how there's already a song in XIV called "Tempest", about Nael van Darnus trying to bring an end to the world. Then along comes The Tempest area with its themes about the Ascians trying to bring back their own world.
" Nael's" plan was part of Emet-Selch's schemes, so the connection exists

At first I hate this zone when I arrived, didn't give me the feel of a final zone, and I couldn't quite figure out what the music was supposed to make me feel. But it's amazing how after finishing the game my opinion on this zone has done a complete 180 and it's now my favorite zone and I find the music perfectly fitting. The way this zone was crafted was very clever, and a perfect way to close-up the story.
Probably my favorite theme in the entire game!

I love how this theme is a broken version of the Amaurote dungeon one.
I love how you only get glimpses of it when walking through the Tempest. Just like echoes from a distant past which has been lost through time.
Just like pieces of the souls that once were, and are now broken and shattered, only to be hinted at within a few measures from times to times, as if they were desperately saying "remember that we once lived".
I like how they mixed the Amaurot theme with a slower tempo and more oceanic sounds.
I always come here to craft the visuals atmosphere and music is just amazing I love it so much

I remember when me and my buddy first zoned in to the tempest we sat and talked for 45min before we did anymore msq and decided that this place would be our private meet area.2months later found a spot to just sit and talk after guild duties and raiding.
Just arrived here today. I’m avoiding the comments on this vid because I don’t want spoilers, but wanted to throw out there that, of all the AMAZING themes I’ve heard in this expansion, this is my favorite. When it started as I first arrived during a cutscene I was like “whoa okay I hope Mekkah Dee got this one”
HW's final zone was an ominous floating continent, SB had a mountainous salt flats, and Shb now has an underwater land akin to the Coral Highlands from Monster Hunter World and Sylvalum from Xenoblade X

I played the MSQ to 6.0 2 times (now I am almost done with my 3rd, and my 4th character just got through the bloody banquet :v ), and every time I am at the tempest I had the same feeling: the wanderlust, the vagabond-ness, exploration. The exoticness of the underground sea, the guitar, it is as if I am in another world. It is all so...... therapeutic. I always look forward to my pilgrimage to Amaurot each playthrough. Nothing beats that, not even the world unsundered, or the final duel. :)

Just found out about Ariel's song from Shakespeare's play The Tempest. Feels like the name for this track, Full Fathom Five, and the area itself, where inspired by that poem from the play. The stuff you learn.

Oh, I don't know if you're aware but Kholusia has a different daytime theme if you go back there after defeating the final boss. Legit my favourite of the new zone themes. Would appreciate muchly if you were to upload it. :D
I really love they they did this. The everlasting light theme would not make sense after completing MSQ. The song makes me think of LOZ.

We caused a localized ecological disaster just for this zone to exist.
We did that. With Bismarck's help, and as a means to an end, but the Ondo and wildlife in this part of the ocean will literally never live in water again, because we had to come down here to fight an eons-old tyrant.
And we still haven't fixed this zone even now, years after 5.0's release.

There's a version of the Tempest/Amarout melody that's plays in Crystal Tower at the Elidibus battle que area. I just got there yesterday and been trying that version all day.
