Is there another way to do this? I do not have the hand strength to bend a piece of metal along its flat plane.

There is always another way, but the tools can get kind of spendy.

You could cut it out from flat sheet, instead of bending it.

There's millions of ways to do everything. If you'll notice, he's not using much hand strength and only doing a little at a time. The pilers and bench peg should give enough leverage to move an annealed piece of silver without much effort. Alternatively you could just cut a parallel strip, bend it up like a tube, solder then bang it in the collet block.

Sorry to highjack the video comments with something unrelated, I have a raindance style ring to make with 8 collets, I am unsure whether to do 3 separate rings like stacking bands with the collets fitted and then solder them ? or would you make a thick band and cut it at top and open out then fit in collets ??

Also would parallel collets work or would they have to be under ?

3 bands looks too wide to me. Too much metal costs a lot and make the ring heavy. Try 2 bands that clamp some collets down the middle. parallel usually ok
