The Tellico Dam: From Riverside Farms to Lakeside Village

Part one of a documentary series chronicling the history of the building of Tellico Dam and the making of Tellico Lake. Learn about this controversial project which was the last dam built by the Tennessee Valley Authority. The project had its supporters and its opponents, including many of the farmers who lived along the banks of the Little Tennessee River. The story is known to many by the name "Snail Darter Controversy". It tells the story of the beginning of Tellico Village.

Very well done and a great history lesson for all of us who moved here from "there" and bought "their" farmland after "they" took it. Easy to understand how native East Tennesseeans resent newly migrated residents and how they despise TVA.

Possibly aside from some obscure "Dateline" type piece made in the '70's I saw (but was removed) from YT last year, this is the very best multi-perspective synopsis yet of the entirety of the project and its ramifications, both short and longterm. Well done!
