At 15 years old, my little dog loved short cruises in the sidecar. At 16 years old, her balance wasn’t as good as before, so it was only short neighborhood rides at that point. At 17 years old, she’d still want to ride down to the central mailbox for her fix. She got her wings last Thursday, but that little girl sure sure knew how to have fun at every opportunity. Dogs are the best copilots!
As a rider myself, I have lost count how many times I have been hit by debris on my helmet visor and hit hard. Imagine if I wasn't wearing eye protection, I would have had a bad injury by now so I am glad this owner protects the eyes of his dog because they can pick up an eye injury when dogs stick their head out of a car window, and there doesn't need to be traffic anywhere for that to happen.
cool doggie! Great passenger, no complaining about the wind or cold. I know most dogs LOVE a pickup truck. It stands to reason that a doggie would go bonkers over a motorbike side car. Sweet!
For sure. If there’s any complaining going on, it’s going to be coming from me. Then I look at him and see how relaxed and content he is and I just have to smile and tell myself to act like him. :-)
Thank you. Most stores and shops here do not allow dogs unless they are designated assistance dogs. Many hardware stores, pet stores and restaurants with outdoor patios are becoming more pet friendly, though. When I travel with my dogs, I seek out places like this.
What a beautiful dog with a great temperament you have - I had a big standard red poodle (90lbs) who went everywhere with me and my wife and although he was big, was very gentle - little kids would run up out of the blue and hug him, because he looked like a teddy bear to them. He took it all in good humour.

Thank you. Yes, I was very fortunate because Rudi adapted very easily to riding in the sidecar. In the beginning, I used his favorite toy to coax him into the sidecar and made sure to reward him for every short ride. I hope your Golden adapts well.

Aww, sorry to hear about your Riki. Rudi is really slowing down too and it is getting difficult for him to do things that require climbing up or down. We can still appreciate each day of their companionship though!

Thank you. I love Urals, but wasn’t comfortable with the potential maintenance or repairs they might require. My bike is a 2014 Honda CB 1100 and the sidecar is used, from a 2002 Ural Tourist. I had a professional install the sidecar to the motorcycle. The dog is a NewfyPoo - Newfoundland/standard poodle. Pretty sure it’s the Newfoundland that gives them the mellow disposition. One of the most enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had. Wish you the best.
When he started riding, I would strap him into the Sidecar. As he's gotten older, he seems to have little to no chase instinct, nor does he ever get overly excited. He has now ridden over 16,000 KM and has never tried to jump out of the Sidecar. I know that I am fortunate and hope that stays that way for the remainder of his riding days.
Can a fully grown Rottweiler be able to sit in the Sidecar. I am thinking of taking my rottweiler for a All India Trip. By the way, It's Happy to see you taking your dog for a ride. 💖 from INDIA.
The sidecar that I have is from a Ural motorcycle. I think it is spacious enough for a grown Rottweiler. My dog, Rudi weighs about 41 kg. I'm sure your dog weighs more, but if you remove the Ural windshield, I'm pretty certain he would fit. I hope you are able to do it!
This is a beautiful video! I love how this gentleman treats his beloved doggo like human, he talks to this doggo too! I talk to our doggo all the time! May I kindly ask how to prevent doggo from having motion sickness? I want to take our doggo to more dog parks but he has motion sickness and if car ride is more than 6 mins, he would vomit. I have Cerenia for dogs but it is not affordable for everyday use, it costs almost $20 per pill so it costs almost $20 per day and it’s not affordable to use it everyday. I tried Gravol after consulting with the vet but Gravol does not work well for him. I am giving him a teaspoon of organic ginger powder per meal to boost his immune system so ginger is already a daily consumption and ginger does not seem to help motion sickness, please share your insights and experiences if u can, many thanks! 🙏❤️
Thank you for the kind words. I am fortunate that my dogs do not display any signs of motion sickness when riding in the motorcycle sidecar. Perhaps that is because they are constantly exposed to the air. I wondered if it would help if you open your car windows as much as possible to allow for increased fresh air. In addition to the medications you mention, I’ve also been told that some people use GABA, which might be found in a health food store. I wish you the best of luck with your doggos!

We live close to one small dog park which is a 3 min drive and I drive him to this small dog park everyday, I really wanna take him to other dog parks so he can explore more places and sniff other doggo smells in grass or trees, he loves sniffing everywhere haha! I love animals more than human so when I watch your video with your beloved doggo, I feel so happy! I do not have human child and our doggo and two cats are our children. I drive our doggo to the nearest dog park instead of walking him there because he is a tripod, he lost his right front leg due to abuse in Iran when he was a stray around 2 years old. Then he was rescued and had been living in a poor shelter outdoor there for a few years. A local rescue in Canada here that connects to other high kill shelters and poor shelters in the world posted his adoption profile and my boyfriend found him online and adopted him! He came to Canada in May 12, 2021 and live with us and he is the love of my life! Even he only has three legs, but he is very resilient, strong and brave! I learn from him everyday and I’ve been so happy since he’s in our lives. We are very lucky to have him, he is a 6 years old Anatolian Shepherd mix! I really like Royal Enfield motorcycles. I have never seen a sidecar attached to an Interceptor. If you do add a sidecar, be sure to practice before riding with your dog. A motorcycle with a sidecar is a completely different ride. I wish you the best! Thank you for watching. : )
Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you not short leash him in the sidecar? I know he is well mannered but I would be concerned with an emergency maneuver tossing him out of the sidecar. Maybe I missed seeing it. I'm presently attaching a sidecar, so my dog can also ride along. He is a Goldendoodle.
You are correct. I do not tether him to the sidecar. I know that many will disagree, but I feel that in a critical situation or collision, he might be better able to survive if he were not tied to the sidecar. My thinking is that the sidecar doesn’t have the type of protection that one has in an automobile and having him tied to it might make matters worse in many situations. I ride extremely conservatively when traveling with him in the hope of reducing the severity of a potential emergency maneuver, but I know there are no guarantees. I will tether our other dog when I eventually travel with him because I’m not completely confident that he won’t jump out due to his chase instinct and or inexperience. I think everyone has to make a tethering decision based on the individual dog and your interpretation of the risks involved. I wish you miles of enjoyment with your dog. It is a wonderful experience. Cannot find a helmet made for a dog his size. I do harness him into the sidecar at times, but wonder if that would be actually be disadvantageous in a crisis.

Either way, it's cool that he gets to ride with you. He is really enjoying the whole thing. You might be right about being tethered.

The sidecar I have is a from a Ural motorcycle, but the Ural company does not sell the sidecar separately. I purchased it from a dealer who sold it separately because the bike had a blown engine. According to a professional installer that I worked with, the Triumph Bonneville is a great bike for a sidecar. I am not sure about the Scrambler, but that bike seems similar in design. You might be able to find a separate Ural sidecar if you check out web sites where used items are sold. Check out the Soviet Steeds web forum. It is dedicated to Ural motorcycles and they have a "for sale" area where you might find something. Best of luck!
I purchased the sidecar from a Ural dealer in Eaton, Ohio (Heindl Engineering). They were selling it separately because the bike it was attached to had a blown engine.
The Sidecar is from a Ural motorcycle. Ural does not sell the Sidecar separately, but sometimes you can find one in the used market. I believe the older Ural motorcycles were 650 cc it's a somewhat heavy sidecar, so you would probably want at least a 650.
You know....add a seatbelt and a helmet for the dog. Seriously....at least a decent seatbelt by now, not those crappy ones at the store. Give it a though?

This is great and I can see you rise very carefully but I can't help but think his nose must get cold !
If we are going a long distance, I think his nose may become cold, but if he becomes uncomfortable or bored, he will lie down in the Sidecar.

I can relate to your feeling. I also would feel horrible if anything were to happen to him. I try to be extra vigilant when riding with him.
id be so scared he would randomly jump out if he saw a rabbit (or anything he wanted to chase etc) but im sure hes a good doggo

Thanks. He pretty much trained himself! The sidecar is from a 2002 Ural Tourist. I've always like the design of the Ural sidecar. It makes it easier for the dog to get in and out.

Cannot find a helmet made for a dog his size. I do harness him into the sidecar at times, but wonder if that would be actually be disadvantageous in a crisis.
@@wheelstrailsandtails3709 Thank you for your comment. I watched a guy with his dog and he somehow either made or found a helmet to fit his pup (he was a fairly small dog too). Either way, it's cool that he gets to ride with you. He is really enjoying the whole thing. You might be right about being tethered.

The sidecar I have is a from a Ural motorcycle, but the Ural company does not sell the sidecar separately. I purchased it from a dealer who sold it separately because the bike had a blown engine.
According to a professional installer that I worked with, the Triumph Bonneville is a great bike for a sidecar. I am not sure about the Scrambler, but that bike seems similar in design.
You might be able to find a separate Ural sidecar if you check out web sites where used items are sold. Check out the Soviet Steeds web forum. It is dedicated to Ural motorcycles and they have a "for sale" area where you might find something.

I purchased the sidecar from a Ural dealer in Eaton, Ohio (Heindl Engineering). They were selling it separately because the bike it was attached to had a blown engine.
What side car is that how big a bike is needed?
The Sidecar is from a Ural motorcycle. Ural does not sell the Sidecar separately, but sometimes you can find one in the used market.
I believe the older Ural motorcycles were 650 cc it's a somewhat heavy sidecar, so you would probably want at least a 650.
You know....add a seatbelt and a helmet for the dog. Seriously....at least a decent seatbelt by now, not those crappy ones at the store. Give it a though?
