Amateurs study tactics; professionals study logistics.

    PS:
You know it's concerning and something bad is going to happen when Admiral Yang brings up concern about logistics to everyone at that meeting.

It’s one of the reasons why I believe that if you want a large force, don’t give them the best equipment available as that’ll only cause issues further down the road I mean look at Ukraine whilst it is holding on before the first year was up most of the western world’s advanced munitions was rapidly depleted and thus they had to scale down their commitments.

The funny part about this is Reinhard let his people suffer to slow and hamper the FPA meanwhile when the Empire comes through other corridor that they just took they start conquering planets left and right and seem not to be bothered by the law of logistics, still the invasions causes them to spread their fleet out to much and giving Yang a chance to kill Reinhard but of course the terraists had to get involved, tbh it was probably for the better anyways cause if Yang killed reinhard there the Empire and the FPA would suffer, admirals would want revenge on FPA citizens, and the Empire would probably breakout into another civil war.

@@comentnine1574 The problem isn't giving a large army the best available equipment. It's trying to maintain a steady supply of said equipment, regardless of it's quality.
US, Europe and the other allied countries together have the stockpiles to send Ukraine all the munitions needed to sustained their war effort. But issues related to politics, such as the US aid package being delayed by the houses are disrupting the flow.

This was perhaps one of histories greatest strategic blunders in the LOGH universe. Firstly, the invasion plan by Falk was clear to any military professional fundamentally flawed and any competent strategist could easily overcome his invasion plan and destroy the invasion force, even if the FPA military couldn't refused the order to invade by the high council, they could have revised the invasion plan as all the high council ordered was to invade, not how. Regarding the High Council, it was such a short sighted and frankly dumb political move, motivated to win glory by liberation and win re election. They could have easily won re election by either signing a favorable peace treaty with the empire and becoming the 1st FPA government to see possibly brief end to the war, they could also have won by downsizing the military and fixing the economy because holding Iserholn fortress could fend off any imperial invasion with 1 fleet as Yang proved. It literally going all in with the absolute weakest hand you can play after already winning the jackpot and having the perfect chance to cash out.

      You're 100 % correct here.
The FPA best option was to turtle up and make peace talks their main goal allowing for them to repair their economy and future potential.
However, the thing is that the FPA plan to Invade the GE does actually make some amount of sense based on the history of the conflict and the average behaviour of the GE military higher up, it does however ignore Reinhard and his forces.
The average GE commander would of likely thrown his forces at the FPA forces with out a second thought, not withdrawn to force the FPA supply lines to be become dangerously stretched.
So the FPA initial plan 'was' invade, Liberate a couple of planets, wipe out a few imperial fleets/battlegroups that rushed into their forces haphazardly. Than bring the GE to the negation table/encourage rebellions with the empire by their mere presence.

@lostShadowLord In the long term sense, yes I'd say your right that the average GE commander would fight head to head. However, this was after the battle of astarte, where Reinhard just wiped out 2 of the FPA's fleets. So if the FPA was smart, they would have accounted for his genius, yang even brought it up saying that it was likely that Reinhard would be the commander they would be facing. Also the FPA invasion plan was to essentially head into Imperial terroritory and essentially look for a fight as they take over planets. Even if the GE was dumb and lost and signed a peace treaty. It would never work because the FPA could never be able to securely hold onto those planets since they are beyond Iserholn and thus incredibly difficult to defend.

The mistake would be they should have fortified the 2nd passage way and that would have halted the Empire advance, but due to foreign influence and interference in the Republic it became corrupted and slow decline. The other is was finding manpower. They did not force more citizens in the military and had more ships than people. The economy was basically 1929 depression because they brought everything on credit. If the coup was victorious the debt would be wipe out and more. I would have reach a 10 year cease fire with the Empire because it would have given the needed time for the Republic to recover and reorganize their navy and army. The people on their planets needed more forms of patriotic idealism like the empire coming out of civil war every time and having new breeds of fanatics.

    • @odsgaming105
      @odsgaming105 4 місяці тому

You might be right the best option would have been to turtle up and focus on peace but the problem was that the FPA has always tried the peace option but the Empire never came to the table and they assumed nothing would change they saw a Civil War about to breakout in the Empire and this would be their chance their one and only chance to achieve peace. The FPA was always at a disadvantage throughout the series, Empire was bigger had a bigger economy more developed navy. If they turtled up they would only be pro-longing the inevitable cause who to say the next emperor in charge wouldn't actually be better then the last one. FPA was in a war for survival the Empire was in a war for conquest.

As Admiral Yang himself said, he hates winning battles, because it encourages the fools back home to order even bigger offensives.

A classic case of politicians playing commander. Them and their supporters within the military like the officer who collapsed due to stress and criticism of his "perfect plan". It's been. while and the name escapes me.

Either not to or find a better plan. Bliztkrieg your enemy only to spend time standing there doing humanitarian aid while your supply force is dying simply is stupid
