I saw this video when it first came out and I was thinking about what my first car to buy would be. I'm happy to say that I now own a 2018 Elantra Sport and I LOVE the car!! It's as sporty as I hoped it would be for the price of the car and it's so much fun to drive!!
At 23000 miles my 6 speed Veloster DCT is an extension of ME! The DCT computer has learned how I drive. Drivers do not relies you have to use all modes when driving. Drive mode for casual driving, Sport mode for passing and quick maneuvers, and manual mode for that fun to drive serious situations. I have mastered the DCT and you all modes when driving.
in the first place yes off course it s way quicker and efficient than cvt, but think twice while buying.dct transmission is being sold for more than 2 years here in Turkey so we are all aware of double clutch transmission problems.especially in high traffic,it has serious problems, overheating, vibrations, confusions, and service costs are whoaaaaaaaa...believe me ,as a final decision cvt or a regular torque converter type is way more logical to buy...
I love the looks of these I love anything sporty and that color is beautiful with those rims most beautiful looking affordable sport compact sedan out this year
just watching from this vantage point.... I am making comparison against my 08 FA5 Si. I will conclude that Hyundai has caught up to Si's level and I can't wait to see more from them in the future. Will there be N vs Type R rivalry? Personally, that could be cool.
Depends on the condition of the roads. In any case, drive the car. Don't judge what you hear from a video on the internet. As someone that works in the industry, Kia and Hyundai are making some of the best cars right now.
rooboy69 there is no warranty coverage for the old man. The dealer will screw you over with old man maintenance. If you want to keep your old man in top shape, try the Explorer Sport instead.
I have a 2017 Elantra wish I would've waited to get this Sport model . I will be looking into trading it for this Sport model in another year. love my Hyundai Elantra 2017
I think they would have been better off taking a note from Mazda and building a good traditional auto box. I would like to take the manual for a spin though. I don't think anyone can deny that Hyundai has stepped their game up significantly. The more cheap, fun and reliable cars the better!
Looks sweet. I have a 17 Value Edition and my dad has a 17 Sonata Limited 2.0T so I am familiar with the sporty end of the Sonata and I know the regular Elantra. Looks good, but I still love my Value Edition. Actually, we rented an Infititi Q70 AWD last week and I would prefer this car over that. Sure, this has a little less power, but the modern day tech and features in it way make up for the small loss of power. Minus the power folding mirrors, nav, and ventilated seats, and parking sensors my Value Edition blows that thing out of the water and the sonata 2.0T minus the power folding mirrors really blows that thing away. Way to go Hyundai for making cars that look more appealing to me than Infiniti Nissan can with their last gen designs.
If your interested call 250-758-6585 and ask for tyler and ill give you some info and details about the current model we have that i got to test drive and it was a loot of fun!
It's always weird hearing cars with dual clutches that don't make a "brup" sound when upshifting like Audis, VW, Lamborghini or Ferrari. Just sounds like another standard automatic to me.
At least the 1.6 turbo this time around actually feels like it has ~200hp. The Veloster turbo I'm still sure its BS. I also like the wheels; the multi-spoke design is pretty nifty. Still to much Elantra (read conservative) for my taste; VW makes the GTI look good by putting premium materials in there for prices less than an Audi A3, but I'm not feeling the quality here.
Elantra needs special division to offer 300hp/300tq with max usable powerband upto 7400 rpm with race gearing with top gear maxing out at 160mph@ 7200 rpm. Curb weight at 3000 lbs flat. Need magnesium wheels, carbon fiber drive shaft, titanium connecting rods, gears, and axles and brake rotors. Suspension needs to be setup for road course racing. It will then beat all of its competition and cars of class above it such as brand new BMW 335i, 1M, Subaru STi, Evo, etc. 201hp is just not enough. It needs a real sport division, and Hyundai can do it but they are not taking seriously. Just like Lexus its F and LF division. I can forecast that it's coming.... Hyundai is catching up late tho
IamAnoobiecheez Well, they gonna offer N version of Elantra gt (or i30). But it’s gonna compete with GTi Clubsport or Civic Type R. Maybe it can beat 335i, but I doubt that it’s gonna beat 1M.
it seems to be quite faster than I thought it would be. guess I'll give a thumbs up for this one. much better than my shitty ass nissan. Korean cars seems to have increased their quality in every aspects drastically over the past years. hell they even look much better than JP cars now
The torquesteer was also considered in its design and Hyundai managed to resolve that possible problem... Check others reviews of that car, you'll see how well the car performes .
Delonte is my daddy - same horsepower, still tunable, same designer, cheaper maintenance, 10 years newer, cheaper insurance, and it makes getting what I really want (a 2010 v10 r8 spider) that much easier because of the cost savings.... don't really see that as a downgrade. but hey, if saving money to achieve your bigger, long term goals (while still having fun) is considered as downgrading, then I succumb to the term.
Funny you mention the Nissan Versa and solid door thunks. They are currently being recalled for accidental airbag deployment when the doors are slammed.

So much better than a CVT
I agree

kaan898 yes my phrend I still have a 1990 civic Auto, very durable but there's no overdrive.
kaan898 no it's not cvts can't be repaired they usually require a full replacement
I like it, looks kinda like a shorter version of the Fusion. Very clean
I love how the guy on the passenger seat changing the map direction manually every time the driver change direction lol
he must be a navigation
I wish there was a hatchback version, but this sedan is looking sharp already 👍
There will be a new Elantra GT next year, search up the 2017 Hyundai i30, it's European counterpart
new i30 (elantra gt) already released in korea. so other country will be releasing soon
Revealed today.
Looks like I found a replacement for my 1st generation Mazda 3 hatch
ThunderUp09 2
That had to be an awkward convo pre-ride. "No talking for the ENTIRE ride."
Video made me go test drive.. and eventually bought one. Had it for a few months now, love it so much!
I love the looks of these I love anything sporty and that color is beautiful with those rims most beautiful looking affordable sport compact sedan out this year

0:11 That dude in the car is like "yup"
Looking forward to test driving this car. I think I'm going to really like it. Acceleration looks good, and the exhaust sounds good.
Any news?
This is a neat car! Love the DCT idea in an elantra! I am wanting to test drive one.
Haven't update pov night drive in a while, what happen guys?
also missing the 8-15min videos
I love this car !!!! That duel clutch tho
great video. refreshing to not hear any talking! I have a 2012 i30. waiting for a turbo model in the us.
Rob Waterman when does the turbo get launched in the US?
damn that road noise is loud. and trust Hyundai to sell there cars with a free old man in the passenger seat
Depends on the condition of the roads. In any case, drive the car. Don't judge what you hear from a video on the internet. As someone that works in the industry, Kia and Hyundai are making some of the best cars right now.
I just did today, and its loud. Yes the Kia optima has great road noise. Hyundai just dropped the ball with the Elantra. its a shame.
rooboy69 I still disagree as I have seen hard data to prove that it's not loud. But your opinion is your opinion.
rooboy69 It's the Sport model. you want an engaging driving experience. too much refinement takes out too much fun.
rooboy69 there is no warranty coverage for the old man. The dealer will screw you over with old man maintenance. If you want to keep your old man in top shape, try the Explorer Sport instead.
Pretty nice sounding engine much better than the standard low powered engines offered in its class good job Hyundai
Im'a test drive the 2018 sport soon , it seems lot of fun to drive
I have a 2017 Elantra wish I would've waited to get this Sport model . I will be looking into trading it for this Sport model in another year. love my Hyundai Elantra 2017
I think they would have been better off taking a note from Mazda and building a good traditional auto box. I would like to take the manual for a spin though. I don't think anyone can deny that Hyundai has stepped their game up significantly. The more cheap, fun and reliable cars the better!
this is like the first time ive seen another person in passengers seat in his POV tests

so puzzled as to why anyone would downvote this video.
7dct + paddle! it's a fun!
not bad for an elantra its certainly come a long way
I know it's just a Hyundai, but you really slam those doors.
I want one. Where do I sign Hyundai?
At the dealership
Kellan Larson But the Sport version won't be here until January 2017.
Ren Gonzalez Jan 2017 is coming very soon
If your interested call 250-758-6585 and ask for tyler and ill give you some info and details about the current model we have that i got to test drive and it was a loot of fun!
I would buy one but the PT cruiser GT seems to have more aftermarket srt4 parts available.
I like this car and this youtuber
Hey, does it have 1,6 turbo engine? Because there's Hyundai i30 N launched un europe, it has 2 litre turbo, 250 or 275 hp
how about the ride comfort? is it as quiet as the regular elantra?
Sounds good and shifts nice!
What do you think of the Sport? It's a potential car for me a long with a Civic 1.5t manual and Golf Tsi. Thanks!
I'm also comparing this to civic turbo. Any thoughts? Currently leaning towards civic.
Sherman Bernard covic is CVT
nice drive !
I can't stand Hyundai cars, since my driving school car was a Hyundai i30.
And I hated driving lessons, so happy this shit is over. Great video.
Ralf Beringer What year? Cause Hyundai has changed a lot in the last few years.
You are doing a great job keep doing. Can you make video of audi a8 diesel or new e class diesel? And where are you from?
He's from Michigan, I'm pretty sure.
+xBlackRaiderx OK thank you.Greetings from Serbia.
Unknown Mister leskovac
It drives real smooth I bought a more basic model.
I enjoy this video ....THANKS
i still want this car. its on my list for next year but, i still want a golf gti with the 6 speed dsg automatic. so its decision time
Jeffrey Bishop GTI is in a league above this imo.
나름 괜찮은듯? :)
nice video!
How's the DCT? I know it's nothing compared to Volkswagen but it is the same in the new Kia Forte 5 SX.
It sounds like there's a lot of road noise. Is that the case? I'm comparing it to your GTI video which seemed a lot quieter.
Depends on the roads.
Mike Amicarelli well, you can't compare german cars' quality to the Korean
|〉 TARIQ k. 〈| Why not?
Wonderful power for its body
So I think that Hyundai is a VAG (volkswagen) for USA. they use the same DCT, turboengines and look - even the sound of blinker is almost the same
That road noise is really bad. Skimped on the sound-deadening materials?
HensaStralem no the tires and suspension make it loud
i'm getting this car!!!
Would it be possible to do a night time video with the 2017 Elantra (any trim)
at nite it would be dark
IamAnoobiecheez he does night time drives...
IamAnoobiecheez thanks sherlock.
Andrew Denisyuk Your welcome sweetheart
I'm trying to decide between this car 2017 Honda Civic EX-T and 2017 Hyundai Elantra Sport.
it looks sharp and looks like a good upgrade to my 04 corolla s lol, but that new 2019 camry tho.
But it's still a Camry. lol
Jason Miller really this is an Hyundai lol elantra at that
daphenom45 Umm, read his comment then read my reply again. Because you missed the point.
It's always weird hearing cars with dual clutches that don't make a "brup" sound when upshifting like Audis, VW, Lamborghini or Ferrari. Just sounds like another standard automatic to me.
xBlackRaiderx ikr
It's also too slow for a proper dct
maybe it needs a reflash in the ECU?
A flash should fix that. They make these economy DCTs smooth engagement.
Dat DSG fart. unf.
can you preview mazda 6 2017
sounds decent !
I really wish they had the red leather interior option available, like they do in japan
hey thats south bend indiana tire rack, i use to work there lol
Can you do a video of the 2016: Toyota Highlander gas
What camera are you using? Thanks for your answer)))
I'm thinking about this as a first car. But should I get manual or an auto.
How would you rate this compared to the Civic touring edition?
I'm pretty sure it would be "OK," but is it gonna be good enough to compete with GTI? I doubt it.
It's not competing agains the GTi anyway.
Lewis Park polo gti
Elantra needs special division to offer 300hp/300tq with max usable powerband upto 7400 rpm with race gearing with top gear maxing out at 160mph@ 7200 rpm. Curb weight at 3000 lbs flat. Would love to see a video on the manual one

Looks good, but could you imagine the torquesteer on this thing?
Not enough powa to make torrquesteer
The torquesteer was also considered in its design and Hyundai managed to resolve that possible problem... Check others reviews of that car, you'll see how well the car performes .
WtrDogg20 Didn't know that, thanks!
Need that steering wheel in my Veloster Turbo!!
Dude, looks like youre taking your driving test. Hope you passed sqeauling around corners..lol.

Does this car have a lag when accelerating from stop, like the non-sport Elantras do??
LeelaVaadi लीलावादी yep
5:00 that lag tho... every car with DSG/DCT has that lag. car protects it's gearbox?
player1diao could be turbo lag too.
why you don't test the new Megane GT 2016 ?
Wrong continent.
GeeksterzChannel wrong side of the Atlantic m8
We don't have Renault in the USA.
I never knew that you guys don't have renault in America!
TheCrazy Guy usa*** América is a continent in Colombia we have Renault...a Renault factory is here
How does it compare to the civic turbo?
I'm considering this or a 15 Civic si...
O brasileiro era para vim com esse volante!
Was a window open? That was a lot of rode noise
Sweet.
Regular or premium fuel?
Regular is required
might have found a replacement for my 07 2.0t A3 dual clutch...right here.

Why thank you sir
I like that car
nica car, i love it!

Yes it is, I have one
nise car
0:36 even a Nissan Versa has a more solid door thunk than this
it was the cocksucking license plate that rattled
Funny you mention the Nissan Versa and solid door thunks. They are currently being recalled for accidental airbag deployment when the doors are slammed.
*****
I used the Versa so you get an idea of how bad the Elantra doors sound to me
Andy Jung
if you play at the 0:36 timestamp, you can hear the sound of the cocksucking doors, not the trunk
+Zuriel Briones didn't sound 2 bad at the 36 second mark
I'm sad... At least, in Brazil, it will be charged US$40,000.00 when available.... so much expensive!
Mr. Winding Road is able to drive a Ferrari 488 GTB on canyon blasts solo, but Hyundai insists he needs a chaperone to drive their Elantra.
FWD?
front wheel drive
Максим Дервук Think of it like a GLi/GTi competitor.

Good
why not manual?
Peeps, Omg desert Work looks likepretty owtlandiwhcarrier
that trunk slam made me jump 😐
Wish we could see the speedo. Hard to judge power.
What engine ?
1.6 Turbo 201 hp 195 torque my car has same engine, also Veloster Turbo has it too.
fun for a hyundai... but should have a best transmision like audis style
i would like to ride in that car
Good driving price of car India
1:52 I almost vomit to the sound of the paddle shifters
I notice he likes to "flick" them a lot harder than necessary when shifting. If you push them gently I'm sure they hardly make a sound.
Jason Miller check out the giuliua video they just put up - he flicks them hard and they dont do any shitty noise
Zuriel Briones I would hope not for a $70k vehicle.
bruh. that car is almost 4x the price...
