Audi RS7 Video Review - Acceleration, Noise and Power

- In our latest Cars.co.za feature film we experience how quickly this car accelerates, we debate where that wonderful exhaust noise comes from and we see just how many everyday items this 4-door supercar can swallow in the boot.
Audi is obviously not content with making posh, fast limos. They want to make the fastest, poshest limos, and they have done, with the new RS7. It's a car that uses the same engine as the Bentley Continental GTV8, a twin-turbo, 4.0litre cleverly designed powerplant that produces 412kW and a monstrous 700Nm.
This transalates into headline figures of 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.9 seconds, and a top speed of over 300km/h.
In a car made mostly from aluminium to keep the weight down, the RS7 literally leaps off the line. It actually gave me a fright. And then I did it again and it gave me a headache. It's a brutal, savage kind of acceleration, harnessed by quattro drive which means the car just grips and goes. No drama, no fuss. Just mind-bending, stomach-churning forward motion.
And that is sort of the issue with this car. It is a supercar, on paper, but in practice it doesn't feel like one. It can probably hustle with the best of the other Germans, and it easily has the luxury spec to match, but even though it has supercar power and supercar speed, is it really a supercar?

Nice car! Better start playing Lotto if I'm to afford it :)
3.9 seconds and top speed over 300km/h - certainly supercar territory... handling and balance taken care of with Quattro and weight distribution.

Epic car. Super sexy. But come on guys you can't compare that to a Ferrari. It's apples and oranges. I understand as a local SA show you can't be to brutal about the car or the importers will never let you test drive another. But this car is not an alternative to a super car. It will be front end heavy and even if you put a tiger in the back it will still over steer.
Thanks for the feedback. Bringing the tiger was a mistake, it got really carsick.
wat a car...
What* a car
Top speed of over 300 and take off of less than 4 seconds.......hell yeah you can compare that to a Ferrari!!
Motheo Tshule Do you even know what over steer is? It is clear that you don't. Also, no one sensible buys a super car for practicality on the road. On the street, this thing can do everything a super car would be able to do. On the race track, the story gets to be told differently.
wow
thats not the Audi RS7 sound!!! you edited the sound...
Mommy! I want ONe!
Noise? You mean sound.
