- The Wells Vertige debuts this week at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, a brand new British handbuilt sportscar in the traditional mould.
It’s the idea of entrepreneur Robin Wells who was looking for his ideal sportscar but found nothing that appealed to him. The car has been developed by Hall Engineering.
It’s under 4m long and 1.75m wide and thanks to its composite bodywork and the extensive use of aluminium its dry weight is just 750 kg! A steel monocoque chassis and tubular subframes add up to torsional rigidity of 47,000 Nm.
Powered by a 2.0-litre, 6-cylinder Ford engine it has 208 hp and 210 Nm of torque, a 6-speed manual transmission and 50 litre fuel tank.
Braking is handled by 280mm discs and 4-pot calipers all round while suspension is double custom wishbones and coilovers at front and rear. Wheels are 17-in Speedline while tyres are 205/45R17 Pirelli Pilot 4. Truck capacity is 206 litres with a further 15 litres in front of the full size spare wheel.
Inside the cabin there is an analogue instrument panel, 7-inch infotainment screen, Alcantara and leather.
Claimed performance times are 0-100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of over 225 km/h.

This is exactly the sort of car manufacturers should be making, but aren't. And what Lotus should go back to being. Simple, lightweight, dynamic, elegant. No wonder he decided to make his own. Living the dream!
Why would they do that if nobody buys it?:o
can"t wait to see one. I own a Lotus Elise and love it. The thing looks super cool.
Lindo, belíssimo, leve!!!! um tapa na cara da indústria automotiva🙌❤️
I'm getting one. Only a question of when.
It's beautiful!
If I wrote a list of all I want in a car it would probably look a lot like this!
These look awesome. I'm still waiting for someone to post a road test video before I'm getting too excited.
looks like a Marcos Tso, a Bristol Fighter, and a lotus Elise were thrown into a cauldron and this was the result. Perfect.
How come there isn't any actual DRIVING footage of this car? I've been waiting for a year to see this car in motion, but all I see are the same static photos over and over. Not very exciting to see photos. Hard to believe with 25 of these running around (?) there isn't some video. Come on people!
I love it
Didn’t see it at Goodwood, at least not in the videos of the events. It’s a great looking car with decent specs.
Dear Santa fanta satan plz give me this car
