Great part 2, I done a lot of the docks with UK Railtours The Olive Branch on 14 April 2012.
A further fascinating instalment of this industrial odyssey with quadruple class 20's & a 2,450 ton train - superb freight action at the heart of the Port of Liverpool!

I recall that during my time as a Sefton Borough Councillor (from May 1999) that there were complaints from people living near the coal heaps that it created a lot of black dust and that damping it down became a (public health?) requirement. I noticed a chap wetting the dust in the video so that process must pre-date my knowledge of the issue.
Just finished this and part 1. Incredible History on show here Mike. It's like a different world. I suppose we should be grateful that freight still uses the Docks 👍🏻

@@TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways it's very hard to tell. I think its about 1990. Imported coal started at Liverpool for Fiddlers Ferry in 1985. 20s were working these trains up to about 1992 I believe. Why I'm sitting on about 1990 is due to a few overriding factors.
1. The 47 is in RfD sectorisation livery so I believe that brings it closer to 1990
2. The 507/8s are still in BR blue which means It's before 1994/96.
3. The 20s give no real timescale. Most of them in BR blue which most retained until being scrapped/new liveries applied. One of them is in early railfreight grey and yellow with red band which was applied mid 80s probably.
Again its hard to pinpoint a date but you would say about 1990 give or take a couple of years back and forth.
