    Thank you for recording this. It gave me the confidence to do it myself, saving a trip to the garage, playing it at quarter speed to keep up with the steps.
    I managed to get away without actually removing the central console (just unscrewing it so it could rock back) which was a bonus. :o)

      So there is a way to get at heater core without removing center console? Did you make video on it or not...im tryin to find video i watched yesterday upon oil pan pully bolt or nut that i recently discovered video on which indicated would back itself off and leave motor sounding really bad like lifters are out of wack..to prevent future issues the bolt or nut has to have a hole be drilled on side wall for thin wire to be ran through it n twisted partly after applying permatex lock tite on threads an put bolt or nut on etc...i cant find it now...it is an oil pressure type issue i think..

      Sorry sold the car and just seen this.
      You did have to disconnect the centre console, else you cannot pull the dashboard forward.

The challenge i have is my dsah looks exactly like yours (the key is also next to the steering wheel) My question is THIS the dash i bought has the key much further than the steering wheel and its not a key its more like a fob but bigger. Should i attempt to install this dash or just look again for a dash with a key close to the steering wheel like my dash?

    No wonder my mechanic told me it's a seven hour job. If BMW had better engineers they'd have figured out that a simple pop out panel right above the blower motor would turn this massive undertaking into a 15 minute replacement. REALLY STUPID on their part.

    • @MOvidiu
      @MOvidiu  6 років тому +1

      When they are designed this car , they take in consideration a long life blower motor , how many miles heave your car and how old it is?

    Hello All,
    my old 2001 BMW X5 3.0 with 198K miles is now having the same problem, already replaced the FSU resistor and checked all the fuses in glove compartment and in the trunk. My car isn't worth much and figured I just drive it until it die. Wondering if I can get to and replace the Blower motor BY CUTTING OFF 3 inch SQUARELY ABOVE THE MIDDLE VENT CAVITY WHICH LOCATED ABOVE THE RADIO? CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF THAT'S POSSIBLE? If that works, I just tape the cutoff piece of dashboard back, it will looks wacky but I don't care. Please advise.

      @MOvidiu  4 роки тому

      I'm curious if you manage to do what you say, tell us too, at least I don't see the point in destroying the board, as long as it takes you to cut the board better disassemble it

    • @tanpham1975
      @tanpham1975 4 роки тому

      @@MOvidiu Further study, I found that there is "AIR-DUCTS" assembly built in underside of the dashboard, so even if I'd cut a section off on the topside, I will have to figure out how to cut off the air-ducts as well. For this difficulty reason, I'll probably not going to do it.

    It use to be à 30 minute repair on the X3 (you could access the fan from the motor compartment quite easily)
    How long in real time ? 4 hours and 250 steps ?
    Not for me... Too bad the part is about 58€ here...

    I knew I should've pursued becoming an engineer. It wouldn't have been too big of a deal to rig up the dash so it pops off and out of the way in one minute. The engineers should always ask themselves 'how long would it take to access and service this part, and is there anything we can do at the design stage to make it easier to work on it'?

    • @nonsanemusic507
      @nonsanemusic507 Рік тому

      Exactly. I’m 21 doing this exact same job at my work right now. But our fan is at the base of the dash. Right at the end. So everything has to come out. Everything to the shell. It sucks. Need a simple car or go back to the 70’s mechanics
