Played both games, and tbh, the games by themselves are not bad, the prob is: loot boxes... And also both become very grindy if you want to complete 100% of it, especially the car collections...
IMO the map for the Hot Wheels DLC in Horizon 3 was laid out better than Horizon 5. If you just casually drive around the map (which I do a lot in between event weeks) the Horizon 3 map has better flow, its easier to find your way to every road merely by casually choosing to branch off in a different Y path.
On Horizon 5, a lot of the Y paths are “backwards” as far as going off to explore a road you don’t drive often, as following a Y path in the ‘correct’ direction sends you down roads going the wrong way, or it just takes you down the same 20% of the map you’ve driven a thousand times. I regularly see roads on the map I almost never drive because theres no easy way to access it without slowing down for a hairpin turn at an intersection, or just fast traveling to it. Its hard to describe accurately but, in FH5’s DLC, if you follow the tracks at high speed, you either wind up taking the same 3 routes and ending up back at the festival, or you wind up stuck in 1 of 2 spots. The Volcano loop in the winter/lava zone going the reverse direction from how it was designed, or stuck in a loop underneath the festival hub. There are also circuits on that map that they somehow managed in all of that spaghetti track, to only give *one* entrance to, that you almost never drive past in the intended direction to branch off towards that access road.
Your articulation is spot on…Horizon Australia (including DLCs) is a perfect example of “sometimes less is more” in my opinion.
As someone who still plays the game to this day, this was a pretty hard watch but I'm glad you revisited the game :)
dude, i remember playing this game so much when i was younger. In 2017 this was by far the game i played the most. This game also was my first ever experience with an online lobby. And that's why, for me, FH3 > All.

I still have both DLCs. Bought Blizzard mountain later for like 7€ and im happy i did that.
14:12 if you don't have the car packs, you can still buy those DLC cars from the auction house to go for the 100% car collection. You just can't drive them without owning the packs.

Horizon 3 did so much right and its the newest Horizon I play. It has stuff like an overloaded map, reduced progression and wheelspins creeping but compared to the newer entries its better. The graphics still hold up well today. Of course the DLC are great too. I feel that H4/ H5 " lost the way" in many aspects and I really hope Horizon learns from mistakes and doesnt end up like Motorsport 8 :(

DLC made forza horizon 3 my second favorite horizon, next to 1. it started some of the flaws scene later in forza games, but still probably horizons best dlc.

No, only Horizon 4 Ultimate came with the DLCs

Hot Wheels is garbage, but SN is GOLD, i like that the HW cars are there but i don't play there UNLESS i strictly have to AND I PAID FOR IT

Fortune Island was much better than LEGO in Horizon 4.
As someone who's just 100% the Lego Expansion, I can confirm this. Some of the brick challenges were plain stupid.
Lol i stop playing FH5 cuz after bought and played DLC rally expansion couple of months ago my primary save file FH5 is currupted and my 2 years progression and my 1000cars vanish. God damn microsoft😂😂😂
