I was so lucky to have grown up during this time period to listen to these great dj’s, Harry, Ron, Dan, Johnny, etc. Thank you Ellis for preserving these great pieces of radio history and helping us remember our youth.
Visiting family on Long Island I discovered wabc on the way home I asked my dad to put it on the radio we listened to it all the way home to Philadelphia loud and clear and on vacation to the Jersey shore it sounded even better skipping off the ocean thank you Ellis for the memories
Quick note: at 3:20, Ron says it's Wednesday, which would make this Oct. 8, 1975. (And again mentioned by Ron at 9:28.) Awesome aircheck. Thank you again.
The song hit #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. I would have thought most top 40’s would have played it. I remember hearing it on WFIL, WIBG, WIFI 92 as well as WABC.
Yep, remember it very well. Grew up in Manhattan (HARLEM) and it was either WNBC (660AM) or WABC (770AM) They owned the New York airwaves but WABC was the top dog. Loved it
This aircheck is from a short period where the station was occasionally referred to on air as "ABC." I asked my general manager, who was also a WABC engineer, why the ABC references were suddenly dropped. He told me the legal department mandated ABC could only be used by the network and not by local stations.
66 WNBC, 77WABC, 88WCBS. Those were the days. When the first one changed (77/WFAN?), it seemed against the law of nature. How could they change that flagship lineup? • I have lots of WCBS-FM tapes from the 70s, but I cut out commercials. Have some intros/outros and the IDs/theme music.

@@stephenhetejr.1596 You are welcome.
Thank you Ellis. Remember Ron Lundy & Cousin Brucie. Good memories. Thanks for keeping WABC alive from 1965.
@@Nicky-b8o you’re welcome!
“HELLO LOVE! This is Ron Lundy on Musicradio 77 WABC…in the greatest city in world!”
Loved it, Eliss. October 1975, I was a Corporal at Camp LeJeune. Back in 1975, we had some great music. I really miss those days, Ellis
I miss them too!
Thanks for the memories, Mr. Feaster!
You’re welcome!
Through the 60s and into the 70s my radio was on 77WABC only. Great music, personalities and real entertainment. Nothing like it since.
Me too

Wow! Didn't expect to hear People's Choice "Do It Anyway You Want" on a pop station!

@@EllisFeasterDuly noted!
Powerhouse radio station. Grew up on Long Island. 77 WABC was the best of the NY Top 40 stations.
I listened to WABC almost every day from Philly.

@@josephbell2160 WMCA was really good too
@@pdizbon Most definitely. NYC radio was highly competitive back in those days. But WABC in my opinion was the major leagues of NYC radio.
I remember the old Gertz Dept Store in Hicksville LI about a 10 min. walk from the LIRR Station.
Thanks Ellis! More George and Bob please!
Ok!
This was a Thursday, and I was in school, sophomore year.
As noted, Wednesday (3:20).

HELLO LOVE!
By the way, Ellis I did not know if you heard, but the legendary Joe hopple on WCMS in Norfolk passed away the day after Christmas
I heard. I wanted to post some of his audio, but I had none.
You got the date wrong it was October 8th 1975 or October 9 1974.
