- Here I’m replacing my stator on my 2000 Yamaha R6. Didn’t need to drain my oil to do this replacement as long as you have stands. Unfortunately if you cannot acquire any stands you will need to drain your oil and retop it once completed. Replacement

Stumpx Grinding bike would die on me while riding. I have automotive experience and first thing that came to mind was the stator. I checked the voltage at the battery (because was easy to do so there, and I noticed that it was below 13v-14v.)
How do u know the stator is bad? By bike makes that crackling sound in the exact place and goes away when l switch on the lights and when after some time when the noise appears again i switch off the lights. I hope you have an answer for me

That I do not, I unfortunately sold the bike as well. Looking to maybe buy a cbr600rr this year or maybe another r6.

Hey bro what was it doing leading to replacement pike how was the bike acting I been having issues with my 02 and someone suggested stator so was just curious
Sorry just checked comments and seen what it was doing and sounds damn close mine has been losing all power while riding like yesterday was riding and when i was on it I shifted and when I did it back fired and shut down now I dont know if it back fired furst or when it bump started back up
I tried to comment on it again and it erased my comment but what my bike is doing is when I'm on it as I shift gears I don't know if it's before or after it shuts down it backfires I have no power and it bump starts itself right back up but I lose all power for a second and it backfires
Mines got Cracks in it underneath yzf 600r … No Oil running out .Still Running …. Still riding it … Hope the Oil light not defective .. Luckily no rain at the moment
Deep Doubts bout U I actually didn’t have to drain it. I used my bike stand and very minimal came out. It fixed after this and some unexpected bills came up and I had to sell the bike 😔 looking for a FI Yamaha r6 this or next year

My new stater only has the plug not the little ground wire that goes under the screw that you took out?
It’s been a couple years that I had the bike, but it’s not a ground, it’s just a mount to prevent the wires from moving around and making contact with any rotating parts.
I have cutted 2 cables to rectifier but before was ok with electric now it's low voltage you think it will resolve problem or need also change 5 pin wire cable and it's going directly to stator? Could you find right one on eBay I'm in England and really don't know if just swap alternator (stator) and will be working? It was burning near rectifier in the past and someone cut off to cables there so can't find replacement with 2 connectors only kits are there any help, please ;-)
Dont Have to drain the Oil ?
In the video he says that if you have a bike stand that makes the bike horizontal, you dont have to drain it.
I just got a new stator for my R6, and the cables in the cover are a bit longer and rubbing aswell, how did you solve your problem?
BloodyCatch I replaced it with a new stator. Funny thing was, the new stator I received cables were long again so I put some dish soap on the rubber grommet and that allowed me to move it lower and remove the slack. Worked perfectly after.
The white wires can be mixed?? I don’t have plug in mine so I don’t have any idea how to connect those wires?
Hans yours has to have a plug, it’s tucked underneath your tank and a matting. Try wiggling the harness a bit and you will find it. Not sure if the wires matter or not, I would think it would, should be power, ground and signal my guess.

am i getting this right, the stator recharge the battery while driving.. once i start driving my battery if full after 30mins ride my engine shuts down and my battery is empty.. i tihnk my stator is broke
That is correct sir. Sounds like your stator is bad as well.
If you can fully charge your battery, reinstall it and use a volt meter and put it to your battery leads if you can. If it’s over 13.5V you are good but if it’s under 13.5V now you know stator is bad and not charging.

I got a 2002 R6 for some reason I’m not able to take the cover off I already took all the bolts off but is stuck any suggestions brother ?
Maxwristnc it’s magnetic. First make sure you do have all of the bolts off, then try some force to pull, the magnet is pretty strong

Where did it plug in to? I can’t find the connector to unplug it
Sorry didn’t film it but it is underneath the gas tank (left hand side of you were sitting on the bike).

I couldn’t fully understand your question. If your asking if I think you can do it, then yes. It’s pretty simple and by watching this video you would understand.
You can and should check your stator, so you are sure that is working correctly.

Some were from local auto parts store and some I just used google to find websites.
