In all seriousness this is INSANELY helpful. As we progress we are teaching our intuitive mind to identify what looks "right" and "wrong" about the proportions we draw/paint. This really helps strengthen that process!

Oh you meen the part we’re he shows hiw to shade HNDSOME squid
@@laurenlankford9598 you typed to fast
It's so interesting to me how almost every artist, when they're still learning, usually falls into one of two categories: knows anatomy well but can't properly render it, or knows values and lighting well but their proportions are off.
So true. I'm in the first category 😭
I'm in 2nd category
@@driwsy2 Instead of a full stop at So true*you can put a comma😁😁😁👍👍
What is the category where you’re both (;-;) 😅
@@stormywright8521 knowing anatomy and rendering, or not knowing either? The first would be intermediate/master, the second is beginner, whereas the original examples sound like amateurs. Either way, your art will improve! My art used to be absolutely terrible, like imagine a little kid who just found out what those "how to draw manga girl" books were. I didn't think I'd improve from there, but I did! :) Still on my neverending art journey of improvement.
5:18 how much time does he need to realize that , that art is perfectly fine that girl was having a ponytail and he thought it was its head to be fixed , come on man
To be fair it’s kind of hard to tell

@@Juwulee she also has a hair tie in her head which is extremely obvious to spot in the drawing lol
5:07 unless i'm interpreting this incorrectly, i think she actually has her hair in a high ponytail and her actual skull is a bit too small actually haha

I thought that too
that aint no ponytail thats a second head
@@samdoesarts that's def a ponytail- no hate
@@samdoesarts nah, i think she's wearing a purple-ish scrunchie thing, and has her hair tied up 😂
5:10 i think it’s a fluffy ponytail instead of a headband, because there’s a round line where her skull should end, so I think it’s just her hair (Ps: the Squidward piece is magnificent)
When first I saw your comment, I thought you meant the drawing at 7:35, maybe referring to a reference with altered hair style, and was like "if a pony tail can turn the forehead into this, you need to loosen up the pony tail by quite a margin"... ^_^ But yeah, fluffy pony tail - or that trick girls used in the 60's to make it look like someone was hiding a baked bread inside their hair ^_^
I was about to comment this
I was gonna comment this as well, we love the puffy hair-- it's not her skull :'(
Everyone make mistakes lets forgive sam for making his mistake
yeah thought that too but the head is still a little too long
You can really tell how experienced this guy is… he always says there is a small thing that is keeping you from crossing the finish line and it’s so small yet weighs you down so much. But even though it is tiny, Sam can distinguish it from other things. Resulting in the art looking 10x better which is mesmerizing, the fact that he knows exactly what is keeping it from winning the race or reaching its full potential.
I know it sounds stupid but I find talents like this really admirable,
No shame to Sam, but I am pretty sure the girl in the drawing 4:05 is wearing a ponytail so you just made the skull too small

Sam, i think you misunderstood here. I think that this was supposed to be a ponytail, and not the back of her head
I love that sam actually gives good advice and fixes actual things that do need work without changing the style of the art!
5:40 I think he was trying to do a ponytail, you could see a small curve if you look close enough
Yessss
Thank you, I needed this comment
You know, I think the first girl was fine skull wise, IMO the intention was a ponytail, or a partial one. Where he screwed up was having a literal neck beard below the hair which is being pulled towards the knot, and it blending the side hair and the tail. That's what threw it off and made his intention hard to convey thus your confusion.
Exactly 💯
yea that's what i'm thinking to tho
4:43 doesn't she have like just a big ponytail? i really can't see that she has a big head
I really hope you continue to do more roasting videos using this tool. It really shows how someone's art can be corrected with simple corrections and you explaining why really shows your knowledge. Thank you
I think the girl that had “ too big head “ where you used liquify tool had a ponytail, not a large head 😅
Same though here mate
100% a foofy ponytail
But nevertheless looked much better when it wasn’t as fluffy(after it got ‘destroyed’). And obviously Sam noticed that it was a ponytail because otherwise the back of the head would still be too big even after the liquefy
didn't look nice until he fixed it tho.
@@peep4257 when he 'destroyed' it, it doesnt look bad, i still like the liquified version too
3:54 I think he didn't realize her hair's in a ponytail... 😂
@𝚠𝚎𝚒𝚛𝚍𝚘 ت it is.
It is a fluffy ponytail, when he zoom you can see the line art, the problem is that the lineart it almost invisible
That little "what's up guys" montage made me feel so much better about how I struggle when I make videos. I do the exact same thing, shooting the same one sentence over and over. Thank you for including that!
7:15 LOOKS LIKE A WHOLE NEW DRAWING WTH
As a traditional artist, this is the one reason I would get into digital. The ability to liquefy something would be sooo awesome. I suppose I could scan a piece into the computer to edit it...but ain't nobody got time for dat. I guess I'll just be really good at free-handing preportions, lol.
I think the amount of control traditional artists have rivals liquidfy. It would be a pain to transition, I remember going mad for a few hours because the tablet wasn't textured as I came to anticipate in traditional art.
@@vaishnavisingh9244 I actually do both ( been doing traditional art all my life, only been doing digital art for about a week ) and the curve actually hasn’t been as drastic as I thought it would be once you learn the tools at your disposal and check out a few other tutorials to learn tips. So far, the hardest thing for me has just been altering my art style, and that’s a personal choice because I just don’t like mine lol. Paper feel screen protectors and downloading additional brushes really helped me with the texture issue! I definitely think that if you have a few hours to dedicate to it and treat it the same way you would your traditional art, it can be a fun pass time!

This helps me so much. I am a beginner to this kind of art style, but I don't use digital art, so it's a little harder (atleast for me) I just really love seeing this other pieces of art because it inspires me to work harder, not to mention the comments and fixes you do really help me improve.
4:13 ..... yeah, at first glane it may seem like it is her entire hair, butttttttttt.... I think it is a ponytail
I agree its definitely a foofy ponytail. They probably could've shaded it more to show the separation but I think the skull proportions were fine.
Yeah it really hurt when he was talking about it because there's a pretty well defined "circle" outlining back of the head. like that's definitely a ponytail with the headband. There are even some lines pulling back from the front saying that the hair is being pulled back into the ponytail.
I found out how to do the outline brush on procreate sort of
Duplicate the monoline brush twice then combine them. Go to combine mode and select difference. Then go to properties and play with the sizes. Also don’t forget to make the streamline the same for both brushes
I usually like these videos because they are in playful fun but man, I learned so much and it’s amazing how minor changes to a piece can really make a huge difference. I was sitting on the edge of my seat trying to see what I could learn.

Well done! I really appreciate how your corrections didn’t take away from the artists. I just finished watching some videos where the person completely overhauled the pieces that were reviewed . A lot of the charm and even the style of the originals were lost. The way you handle it actually leaves the artist’s work in tact. Love that! I certainly learned a thing or two here!
