This track, Stand Ablaze and Biosphere man Subterranean is such a blast to listen to. Would love to see you guys try out songs from their album Whoracle in the future, Jotun and Jester Script...are pretty epic and worth the listen imo.
One of my favorite In Flames songs by far, and this version is a lot better than the one on TJR with Anders imo. The vocals on here were done by the amazing Jocke Göthberg that later went on to be a part of Dimension Zero with Jesper and Glenn from In Flames.
Such a great song (both versions). It's interesting to listen to these tracks as they're are what got them signed. A related rec: DARK TRANQUILLITY - Immemorial
they dont play older stuff like this cause they used to create songs with 3 and 4 harmonic guitars in the studios on top of each others and its hard to recreate it live
Ok, this was fun to record with the one and only Jocke af Graf Göthberg. He knows how to sing and no offense to Anders but this is lightyears better and you hear what he sings. Cheers Glenn
They have started playing Behind Space at shows again recently. I never thought I would see that song back in the In Flames set list again so I have hope for more in the future.
This version is better then the one on The Jester Race imo (love them both) but I love the old school production. Early In flames' guitar tone is the absolute sickest man.
So the guy singing here is actually Joakim from Marduk, not Henke Forss who was singing the other songs in this EP, not Stanne or Friden either. I guess it's the only song he did with IF?
My favorite In Flames song off my favorite In Flames recording. If you dug this, the vocalist on this track went on to form Cardinal Sin with Dissection's guitarist that co-wrote The Somberlain, check them out sometime.
Recommended In Flames throwbacks you guys haven't covered (yes there's a lot): Subterranean Subterranean Biosphere Lunar Strain Behind Space Lunar Strain In Flames Clad In Shadows The Jester Race Goliaths Disarm Their Davids The Jester Race Gyroscope Wayfaerer (one of their best instrumental songs imo) Dead Eternity (this version has a different feel and worth the listen) Whoracle The Hive Food For The Gods Episode 666 Jotun Dialogue with the Stars (also a great instrumental) Jester Script Transfigured Colony Zombie Inc Ordinary Story Embody The Invisible Colony Scorn Resin I also recommend adding old Dark Tranquility (The Gallery & Skydancer) & At The Gates (Slaughter of the Soul & Terminal Spirit Disease) to your throwbacks :)
Always good to hear old In flames, but as a patreon and full of old special melodic death metal, there is so many. Such as: Cardinal sin and their amazing spiteful intents Ep. Sins of omission: The creation. And especially my favorite band... Gates of Ishtar, "wounds" and so many songs from them, so many unknown classics to choose from ;-)
Love this song and cool channel, guys. I recommend checking out the version of this song that's on the Jester Race album as well as the live version of Pinball Map from the Hammersmith in London. I think you'll really like the intro of the live version. Peace
Request: As you two have so much fun doing old and sometimes new In Flames Compare In Flames - Clayman (2000) with In Flames - Clayman re-record (2020)
@Doctor Aven I agree in everything you've said. In every case I also like to listen to the re-recorded stuff and like the way it is. In case of Clayman the result is just bad. The chorus is okay, nice drum sound, but the vocals in the verse are too high pitched and then the bassy music. You have a lack of mid sounds and so it sounds like cheap production.
I love In Flames and Paradise Lost and will definitely tune in for that Paradise Lost throwback Thursday. Also love that groovy banger Souls of Black by Testament too! It’s highly unlikely that In Flames will play a lot of their early material live, but that’s ok. It really, REALLY sucks that touring has come to a standstill right now. Anything melodic, I got time for
Wish there were more reactions on UA-cam for old In Flames. You guys know what's up. As far as live recordings, In Flames is actually probably one of the better bands for that. Maybe not on UA-cam, but they have their "Tokyo Showdown" album and then also their live DVD duo that came out w/ like Soundtrack to Your Escape.
It's funny with In Flames how the ignorant has always screamed sellout. Remember when I listened to this at a record store the clerk said they've become "too poppy" compared to the first album. Loved this, loved the albums that came after even when they changed their sound on Reroute to Remain. Not as big a fan today but they still make som great songs.
I like both versions of this song but I think anders' vocals match better in the one on the jester race. What singer is this? A guest vocalist? Old school In Flames is best.
The original Subterranean EP is amazing, but the added songs from the 2014 reissue on side two are bad. The covers of Metallica Eye of the beholder and Iron Maidens Murders in the rue morgue (With Anders friden as a guest) are just terrible
Isn't that the singer from dark tranquility on this one? Anyways it's sad they went from this beautiful harmony of amazing riffs to this cold ugly mechanically boring sound. THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR FUCKING NAME.
A beer and a throwback In Flames song. Can't be a bad day.
This track, Stand Ablaze and Biosphere man Subterranean is such a blast to listen to. Would love to see you guys try out songs from their album Whoracle in the future, Jotun and Jester Script...are pretty epic and worth the listen imo.
i think stand ablaze is their best track ever point. and they never play it live...
@@thepredator666qc4 Never play it live!!???? it's a joke?
In Flames We Trust!!! 🤘🏽😈🤘🏽

Thank goodness people are requesting the old stuff from In Flames! Been watching for a while, had to sub for this one!

10:05 IN FLAMES Live @ Aschaffenburg, Klangwerk, Germany 1996
A great performance.
I feel like In Flames was searching here for there own sound, but it was good.
Indeed. Boy did they find their sound in TJR and Whoracle though!
Ok, this was fun to record with the one and only Jocke af Graf Göthberg. He knows how to sing and no offense to Anders but this is lightyears better and you hear what he sings. Cheers Glenn
This throwback In Flames section is a classic already. 🔥
They have started playing Behind Space at shows again recently. I never thought I would see that song back in the In Flames set list again so I have hope for more in the future.
really? that's great to hear!
This version is better then the one on The Jester Race imo (love them both) but I love the old school production. Early In flames' guitar tone is the absolute sickest man.
@NoxAurea they certainly lost their unff after R2R for me.
I also prefer this one. The Marduk's Joakim is such a powerhouse.
my precious cassette recorded on the radio at 2 a`clock in the mourning , no regrets ....
So the guy singing here is actually Joakim from Marduk, not Henke Forss who was singing the other songs in this EP, not Stanne or Friden either. I guess it's the only song he did with IF?
Best In Flames "album".
In Flames might have the best Vault out there. Great video guys!
One of, if not, In Flames absolute best tracks, so damn good!
I love their early albums!
One of rare instances when demo version is even better than awesome original track
My favorite In Flames song off my favorite In Flames recording. If you dug this, the vocalist on this track went on to form Cardinal Sin with Dissection's guitarist that co-wrote The Somberlain, check them out sometime.
Thank guys so much Québec love and support ya
Dark Tranquillity - Feast of burden, check that if u got time:D
Everyone has time for DT. 🤘🤘
severely underrated DT track
Recommended In Flames throwbacks you guys haven't covered (yes there's a lot):
Subterranean
Subterranean
Biosphere
Lunar Strain
Behind Space
Lunar Strain
In Flames
Clad In Shadows
The Jester Race
Goliaths Disarm Their Davids
The Jester Race
Gyroscope
Wayfaerer (one of their best instrumental songs imo)
Dead Eternity (this version has a different feel and worth the listen)
Whoracle
The Hive
Food For The Gods
Episode 666
Jotun
Dialogue with the Stars (also a great instrumental)
Jester Script Transfigured
Colony
Zombie Inc
Ordinary Story
Embody The Invisible
Colony
Scorn
Resin
I also recommend adding old Dark Tranquility (The Gallery & Skydancer) & At The Gates (Slaughter of the Soul & Terminal Spirit Disease) to your throwbacks :)
ah yes, in flames back when it was still good
also vocals in this one remind me of first album of band silent descent
Being a long time fan of IF I've never heard of this demo. Damn...
You are famous! RUM, WOMEN, VICTORY!

Compare In Flames - Clayman (2000) with In Flames - Clayman re-record (2020)
Please don't. I'm trying to erase the new re-record from my mind.
@Doctor Aven I agree in everything you've said. In every case I also like to listen to the re-recorded stuff and like the way it is. In case of Clayman the result is just bad. easily the best In Flames song.
❤ Souls of Black
Damn your shirts remind me that I was supposed to see Belsebubs and Lost society both in June😫
Man old inflames is still killer to this day, you guys should do a comparison video of Clayman and the new re-recorded version!
The rerecorded version has no balls. The song was perfect just the was it was originally recorded
In re-recording is a miss for me, waiting to hear the holy trinity of the other 3 songs redone. It should be... interesting.
Also, here is a pretty cool old In Flames live video

Live at Sticky Fingers. The only live you need.

Gran banda.
The best of In flames with Jester race album.
Best In Flames Album ever By far.....
Hell yeah, more early In Flames! You should listen to the album version from The Jester Race too. Hell, just react to that whole masterpiece album!
In Flames - The Hive is a most :D
Agree about the New sound. A bit diffrent from ex Clayman album. But still fucking awesome.
You guys should check out wolf totem by the hu feat. Jacoby shaddix
Wilderun - The Garden of Fire
It's funny with In Flames how the ignorant has always screamed sellout. Remember when I listened to this at a record store the clerk said they've become "too poppy" compared to the first album. You have to listen and react to the Clayman Re-Recorded song, i'ts like it was made with a cheap PC sound editor program.
They really don't have to listen to that.
@@georgexanthopoulos3003 No one should really listen to that.
@@ThanatosSD You won't get any arguments from me lol
For throw back Thursday. Can you please do anaal nathrakh - obscene as a cancer. There also a music video. Thanks
I bet all the people here thinking this is Anders Fridén on vocals.... LOL....
Album version on The Jester Race, to me, is much better, but this is still good and raw.
I like both versions of this song but I think anders' vocals match better in the one on the jester race. What singer is this? A guest vocalist? Old school In Flames is best.
Vocalist is Joakim 'Jocke' Göthberg (Wolfpack / Wolfbrigade, Darkified, Moment Maniacs, Dimension Zero, Grimorium (Swe), Marduk (Swe), Cardinal Sin (Swe), Miscreant (Swe).
The singer is Henke Forss from the Black metal band Dawn on the main E.P
this song was added in a reissue with Jocke Götberg I beleive on guest vocals
Try react to astronomikon rise of the dark gorgon or rata blanca's el sueño de la gitana
Hve you done Zombie Inc yet? For throwback thursday...
Hello
Good metal sound! Someone correct but i think this isint the same singer!
Jester Race version is way better. Both great though
The original Subterranean EP is amazing, but the added songs from the 2014 reissue on side two are bad.
The covers of Metallica Eye of the beholder and Iron Maidens Murders in the rue morgue (With Anders friden as a guest) are just terrible
the jester race version is better in my opinion
Isn't that the singer from dark tranquility on this one? Anyways it's sad they went from this beautiful harmony of amazing riffs to this cold ugly mechanically boring sound. THEY SHOULD CHANGE THEIR FUCKING NAME.
The Jester Race Version is better better Vocals i think.
meh imo worse vocals and worse guitar tone.
