We will have to check out the hiking project, I hadn't heard of that ap before. This area is honestly my favorite. The clear water is u like anything. That and I have great memories with my girls as little littles here. I've only ever seen it in summer. It's much different covered in snow!
Haven't even heard of this park. What a gorgeous place. Despite the lack of creature comforts, I hope your daughter can appreciate such beauty. Great post.
Breathtaking mountain views. I like getting perspective with the maps. What gems we have in America. Hard to believe you needed boots for the snow in June!
WOW! Stunning footage! I think that is one of the most beautiful parks you've visited. I would love the solitude you experienced there. Thank you for sharing!
Randy, another excellent video for you and Natalie to add to the Washington State collection. North Cascades National Park is just far enough from Seattle that it does not see many people, and by summer the past years, the fires chase people away. In fact, the “North Cascades Highway” SR 20 from Rainy pass to to Winthrop closed in early July this year for a major fire, now there is a pilot car that escorts traffic past the fire crew activity on the Cedar Creek Fire (53,000 acres and still smoldering). Your video shows amazing views of our mountains! The Canadian border opened today, important to the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail through hikers (coming up from the Mexico border through the North Cascades this time of year). Imagine what it might have been like going southbound from Canadian border, headed to Mexico, through the North Cascades in mid June (that is what Erik Ryback did in 1970). THANK YOU FOR THE JUNE TOUR OF NORTH CASCADES, . . . Mike
Wow that lake is beautiful love the color! Crazy how you were swimming there the same month back in 2013. Really enjoyed the series! You should do more videos on the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for sharing 👍
OK OK, now I'll have to add the Ross Lake NRA to my bucket list otherwise I'll have to change my name! The views of the "teal" colored lake and the mountains on your second hike were epic. I was happy to see how green the trees looked considering how bad the fire 🔥 season has been this year. Another wonderful addition to your father- daughter trips. Going back the Delaware Water Gap NRA in the next week or so as long as the heat & humidity abate a bit.
Another stunning video of your visit to North Cascades! So many views were amazing, but I felt the teal-colored lake was spectacular. This entire series was a joy to watch…I can only imagine how it was to witness it all personally. Take care always and thank you for this episode.
Thanks, James! Would have preferred some better weather, but no overall complaints. Such a beautiful area in our great country and grateful for the trip! Hope to release one more video from the area.
Great last video in the series and overall this Washington series was amazing! The North Cascades area looks pretty spectacular! I will definitely try to make it out there my self in the future. But where I do have a trip planned thanks to you giving me the idea is Olympic National Park in mid-September! Great music at the end of the video my friend and beautiful scenery throughout. Those drone shots were probably with some of your best I've seen. Thanks for sharing all this great information with all of us.
Beautiful drone footage!! Looked too cold to be hiking in shorts lol. Looks so beautiful out there, definitely going to get out there someday! Great Job guys!!
Such beautiful scenery throughout this video. Diablo Lake looks like an incredible sight to behold and those mountains are simply stunning. Awesome job capturing the beauty of this area. We have not yet made our way to the Washington NPs, but I have done a little research into North Cascades. It is definitely one of the more tricky parks to explore, especially if you want to explore with the actual National Park boundaries. I can only imagine how incredible a backpacking trip would be for this area.
Beautiful! I loved all the videos in your Washington series. June is definitely still rain season in WA. Please come back and visit in mid to late July next time. You won’t be as cold then. But still excellent videos!
Hello America's Park's😊😊, North Cascades National Park and it's surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful. I really enjoyed the video and can't wait to see what's next👍👍👍👍👍👍.
Hello Randy and Natalie, am watching your channel for the first time and am thrilled to see your national parks collection. And extra happy for this video as am from this state.
My daughter and I were just in the Washington in July. We spent a few days in the North Cascades. We did Maple Pass Loop and Blue Lake trails. It’s a very beautiful area. We really enjoy your channel. I have some videos on our channel if you want to check them out.
Thanks for the kind comment. Just checked out your excellent channel! Looks like you guys experienced some rain like we did, but thankfully some nice weather on the Maple Pass Loop. Desired that one, but the snow on the ground prevented us.
@@AmericasParks Every time we go to visit a park we check your channel first. We appreciate the comment! The rain broke around noon when we were pulling up to the Maple Pass loop trail head. It’s one of the best hikes we have ever done. Can’t wait for more videos from you and your family.
2021 was a heavy snow year for us! But you wouldn't have been able to tell if you visited in July due to the record shattering heat wave we had in late June. Love the North Cascades. Nice video!
I was so surprised by the snow accumulation still on the ground. Had a totally different experience back in 2013. And yes, cold/rainy for us, but heard the heat wave arrived the day after we left! Have a great week!
YOu really can't beat those views! Amazing how different the weather can be one year to the next. It did seem like the temps were quite a bit colder this time than last! Great video as always!
Wow, another amazing video! This video (as always) is so well-crafted -- and the scenery is breathtaking. Some of this footage might be the best that I've seen on your many adventures (or anywhere for that matter). That lookout spot next to the frozen lake (with waterfall) is incredible! That spot (beginning at 7:40) with the teal-emerald water, forests and mountains might be one of the most beautiful spots that I've ever seen. BTW: Have you ever rented snowshoes? I understand that REI will rent them. In your case (packed ice/snow), some crampon add-ons might have been even better (and more affordable). I hope to hike Mt. Whitney next year; and, I've heard that good crampons are strongly advised.
Thanks for the kind words, Chris! Yes, we rented snowshoes when we were hiking at Grant Teton earlier in the year. Having crampons is key! Would have probably been able to complete the Mount Saint Helens hike if we had then with us at the time.
Another amazing and beautifully produced video! I always wondered why North Cascades had such low visitation numbers, but I guess it's because most people go to Ross Lake NRA instead!
@@AmericasParks You all have been an inspiration for all of us, TBH, in our quest to visit all the national parks with the kids before they're too old and it's too late. Thanks for doing what you do!
@@daneugea945 Super-encouraged to read that! You have a great goal, my friend! Our best memories and opportunities for relationship building - so thankful we had this opportunity!

Keep up the good work!
Hey Brent, appreciate your honest and humble words! Hopefully my faith comes out in my actions, but often save the preaching for the pulpit. lol! Welcome and keep enjoy the beauty of our national parks, my friend!
I love the North Cascades. Not very crowded and great scenery. Next you are up in that area try doing the hike to Cascade Pass. Another area is around Mount Baker with incredible views. You probably would not have been able to do either one on this trip with all the snow. Kahtoola Microspikes are lifesavers on snow & ice. They take up little space in your pack.
Yeah, good catch on the contrasting wardrobe, Jim! For some odd reason, my legs rarely get cold (and I like hiking better in shorts)... so a little of both! :)
Hi Kim, usually do name the trails - did on this video at 1:22 and 5:40. Often share the date visited in the description. Yes, June this time - pretty crazy it was that cold! :)
Great video. So I’m looking to take my 10 year old son to Seattle next year. If I had two nights to hit a park, which one would you recommend out of your series?
With a 10 year old boy and 2 days, I would suggest Olympic. So diverse and fun! Check out all we did in our video - and all that was accomplished in 1.25 days. Enjoy!
Hey Randy and Natalie....what a beautiful park!!!! What happened to all the snow at the beginning??? Pretty far from NJ, eh All the best to you guys from Hank and Pam from South Texas
Another great video. One of the drawbacks I hear about North Cascades is lack of access. As an avid hiker that prefers small crowds, I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing.
The opening seconds, the park entrance sign, I thought that was just your video editing generated Times New Roman bold font lol. My AP shirt is fitting a little tighter these days so back on the treadmill. Peace.
