Thank you for this video. I recently learned some triads and what you are saying fits well with that. I especially like your F chord replacement. Craig Ewinger
Excellent video Ray. I've been doing barre chords with 5 strings and using my first finger to barre sting 1 & 2. Just can't seem to pull my thumb over the top.....arthritis wont let me. I have found the more I play, the full barre cords are getting easier though. Also found that after a 2 hour jam session my wrist feels much better by staying with the 5 string chords instead of the full barre. Keep up the good work.......love your teaching style!
It's ok, Trolls are everywhere these days. You can tell alot about the origin of these types of coments. They're generally either from immature & frustrated, self appointed guitar gods screaming for attention, recognition and acceptance or they're literally from children...
@@thewiredidiot you are good never let anyone say otherwise. Keep the guitar practice up. I have reached pro level after 4 years of 2 hour a day practice.
that depends...as mentioned , in order to play some of these alternatives requires that you learn a new shape. So maybe best to learn the original Barre shape maybe...but there are also those of us who can't play a good barre because of age, limitations, injury etc....just wanted you to see that there are alternatives.
Play learn and learn to play barre chorus’s. They are not hard. There are way more harder things to learn than barre chords. You will be glad to know to pal them.
sthat's great advice if you can. but some people just can't physically play them, or in my case, i can't play them for an extended period of time wihout alot of wrist and hand pain. you are in a chanel that caters to beginners and those starting later in life. we have no aspirations to be rock stars...to each their own
Symptomatic of today’s world, everyone is looking for so called hacks and short cuts or even cheats. There is no substitute for learning the right way and making the necessary efforts, no, it doesn’t come easy and it shouldn’t. Just put in the time and efforts and you’ll be rewarded, there is no free lunch
that's great for those who can actually do that. As i mentioned, some of these alternatives require that you learn a new shape so why not just learn the original way. But for many, due to age, physical limitations, injury etc that may be difficult to do. And there are some that just dont care about free lunches, they just want to play the guitar in a way that works for them...
Thanks, Ray! Excellent video. You’ve got a gift for teaching those of us who just want to play and have fun!
thankyou ruth...
Many thanks Ray, you explain things so well
thanks catherine, hope it helped
Thanks Ray! This is excellent. You always make everything so clear. You have given me many lightbulb moments!

thx, and that pretty much describes me too...sure i can play a few, play a song or 2 and make a video but then things start to get sore real fast 🙂
Excellent video! Keep it simple!!
Thanks, great lesson.
Can't believe the rudeness of the comment section - they really need to move on and STFU - you sir are doing what you love - that's all you need.

No, not at all. One can always limit themselves to what they can handle!
So better to just learn the barre chords.
