RIP Joey Jordison vs. Jay Weinberg - People = Shit #3
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 лют 2016
- Two versions of song Disasterpiece by two great drummers from Slipknot. Former drummer Joey Jordison and actual drummer Jay Weinberg.
/ jayweinbergdrum - Jay Weinberg
/ joeyjordison - Joey Jordison
Joey = Genius
Jay = Talented
Both, Crazy Awesome!!!!
Well put
Jay is a brilliant drummer, but Joey is a league of his own. No one can compare to the master of joey jordison
Sara Smiles he’s better and will always be jay doesn’t have the same technicality that Joey has. On the fith album jay literally plays the same shit for every song. He may be faster rn but he doesn’t have the groove
The rev could have but, aiight.
@Tyler Dietz says a nobody.
Hes a 1 trick pony
@@crossyb759 jay is 10000 times more technical. All joey WAS not is was speed.... that's it.
Joey created that drum beat and Jay plays it as Joey made it. Jay plays it with really nice rythm and very unform. Joey plays it with soul. Both drummers are awesome. Jay has being growing more on me though.
same
Would bet clown writes all drums. Drums still got same groove and joey ain’t been writing for ”his” other bands either so.. 😂
I liked Joey, but jay has grown on me a lot more lately. The last year or so Joey was in the band the band had to slow down their songs life so he could play. Jay fits the band nicely and his drumming on all out life and unsainted have been phenomenal
THEREV468 i agree, his drum beat is very progressive, like it builds up, its hard to explain, it slows builds up in the songs, unsainted and we are not your kind have that. People werent digging the melody but man i ve been a fan since the self titled album. I was in high school. Now i have 3 kids 10, 7, 6. And they love unsainted and devil in i. Now unsainted reminds me of my kids when I hear the melody. Awesome song. They have grown and i have grown with them. I can see Corey saying it has some Iowa feel to it. Unsainted reminds me of Left Behind.
couldn't have said it better!
In this case Joey is composer jay is player so its unfair to compare.drummers can understand what i mean.
Ahmet Emin MALATYALI ..I do
I no what u mean
I totally agree with you on this one. Clearly Joey is better cause like you said he composed it.
Its definitely unfair to compare the two!
Totally man its unfair to compare jay and joey on joeys song
and not to mention the date between the two videos is far apart joey one was from iowa album years ago
Joey isn't Jay. But Jay isn't Joey.
thanks for telling the obvious
It's obvious if you look at it so simplistically. IMO, Joey will always be the best but Jay has his own flavor that fits well with SlipknoT. Both different, but deciding who's better may be just one's perspective.
Joey was the first Drummer from Slipknot and he win
Joey is better
No shit
Joey literally made the fucking song, he knows how its meant to be played so he plays it that way, making it sound "better" because its *mostly* Note for Note perfect.
Jay, is new, he didnt make the song and probably doesnt know the song to the same extent as joey so he puts his own flare in it, making it sound different. But with that being said they are both amazing drummers and i think they both sound fantastic
ArcadeMasters but Jays studied these songs for years AND knew Joey and the band like his whole life so he i think he knows the song.
John Rahzel think about it, how much better would Jay be at playing something like Nomadic than Joey, I get your point, but still, no amount of studying a song can equal the knowlege you have when you wrote it, or at least were the first one to bring it to life in the studio.
Arcade masters I totally 100% agree
ArcadeMasters exactly
Thats why you dont compare a legend to a rookie.
If I had to describe it
Joey's style is like a raging forest fire burning down everything in its way.
Jay's style is like a more controlled flame thrower taking a specific path.
I think joey is just more metal cuz raging forst fire is perefct metal exmple... either way i thibk one of the biggest mistake slipknot did is kicking out joey.
TheToxicAnt3 No they kicked him out. It was in an interview joey did.
I like to think of it as a 500 lb gorilla screaming at you as it swings from the branches
Totally got what u put down here
Burning down everything in it's path, I see what you mean , Joey's drumming is complex . Jay's drumming is limited , that's what I understood from your comment.
Edit:I mean Joey for example adds more to his songs while playing live for example The Blister Exists , Eyeless, people= shit and a few more
RIP JOEY THE KING of all drummers in the WORLD
They are both great...end of story...
*roll credits*
Agree
Everyone is entitled to their own preference! I love jay but Joey was better !
True that homie
@@stonybrain
I just saw them live and they opened with this song and Jay is no joke I like him just as much also he's young and still advancing his playing so every year he going to be getting better
Joey is my all time favorite drummer especially when it comes to double petals only very few can conquer the distinct beat joey could perform...miss you joey...
JOEY JORDISON!!! 😎👌👌👌
IS true, the BEST=Joy Jordison 🥁🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Joy Jordison is a genius the play the drum and he won't see another one like him.
What annoyance is also the founder of Slipknot as Shaun Clown and I believe that Corey Taylor threw or manipulated clown to throw it out and also that would not have happened if it did not happen because of Paul Gray's death may he rest in peace 🥺😢😢🤘🏻
Well, you are right that it is not so difficult, I have a friend that you are a Slipknot fan like me, also people compare Joy Jordison with Jay Weinberg the second battery for me is softer and more relaxing in my expert opinion heee fury 7 that you tell me please answer me if I'm right 👍 🙏 🙏 🙏
@@fernandojesusferrere7 wait did you respond to your own comments?
@@melvinarfwedson3494
Well I do not know you know a lot you are not a fan of slipknot or not you who you like more joy or jay is very simple
then people will say that jay does not do badly, he adapts to the music of slipknot ok but his style is totally opposite to that of joy jordison he was and he is a great drummer and it was wonderful to see him on stage with the group of slipknot.
a shame that they threw him out that I do not understand why I think it was that he was taking drugs and it is a lie because something happened to his spine he was in the hospital.
Also corey taylor was a drunk I do not know if he would leave it was not the most suitable to speak.
I don't know if it was everyone's decision or just by corey taylor.
You can answer me and make a long comment that I'm going to read it sorry for not having answered you before.
Jay plays fine but he just doesn't have that head banging flair Joey had, truth
Exactly
Joeys head banging was on point I agree lol, but they’re both very capable
Its not easy headbanging and playing drums at the same time so i can understand jay but your definitely right joey put more into it
Joey is just so natural, the thing with Jay is like something missing 🤷
Jay is an amazing drummer, but you'll never get better than the person who composed the part
except when its lars ulrich, hehe
@@GodZenth except when it's Mike portnoy....
Owns all.........
their drum kits sound completely different
I guess thats the main problem, thats why Jay doesn't really sound like Slipknot should sound like.
I personally like Jay's better.
jharm90 Considering Joey played Pearl kits, and Jay plays SJC.
I hate Jay's kit the double bass sucks and the snare just doesn't sound right in my opinion
No two drum kits sound exactly the same, even the same make and model will sound slightly different. But yeah, in this video Jay's kit sounds completely different to Joey's. He doesn't use the same kit as Joey so it will sound different.
R.I.P joey jordison 😭😭😭
Joey's intensity and his feel to the song always puts me in state of awe
Joey jordison it's number one!!
Matteo Nanni. Literally!
*_JoJo_*
Joey was the best drummer in the world at some points in his career with Slipknot
@@deathsentence4402 i completely agree ...in my opinion hes still the best
“It’s his drum beat Mr. Krabbs. He was number 1.”
Seriously though, both are insanely talented. Joey takes this one, by virtue of writing the beat. Jay is ever bit as good of a drummer and writer. Slipknot benefits equally with either drummer at the center.
Jordison for me.
Thanks
Joey is too much of an Iconic drummer
Mr. Jay very respectful not throwing in any of his personal fills. Much respect to him
Joey's performance is just simply on point.
His tempo, fills and overall time keeping is just much more refined and precise.
Jay is rushing for sure.
It's almost as if he is trying to over complicate things but he did play with great energy.
Joey wins this one all day though.
Thanks for saying it . Weinburg was TOTALLY rushing , some KEY parts of the song too . His timing was off often , and even some of his fills were sloppy . Joey plays it with perfection , where as Jay's drumming to the song is just simply 'good enough' . Can never play it the way it's meant to sound & be played , better than Joey Jordison himself .
RIP you badass MF , there will forever be a blatant void in the world of drumming .
I think Joey's style is more fluid. The fills are more natural and flow better than Jay's. Joey's video though has gone through mastering and editing, whereas Jay's audio is straight from a camera's mic.
but editing wont change the fact that in these two videos joeys way of playing it sounded more natural and as what you said fluid. but dont get me wrong, i love both drummers
Well said, bro!
Michael Narainsamy other way around 😂😂
This one goes to Joey. Obvious reasons are obvious but I believe Joey would out-perform Jay on a song Jay composed as well. Joey is one of the best living drummers.
Joey is one of the best dead drummers.
RIP legend!
Only one
Joey is more consistent on the double base, they found a good replacement but Joey is so smooth and far more entertaining
You can tell Joey's comes from his central nervous system purely on double bass. The footwork linked to back/brain 💜💜👏👏👏👍
Thing is the clip with Joey is the very first song to open the concert while with Jay they don't play this song till almost the end of the set, so to still have that kind of stamina to play the song that good is incredible, both are awesome
BBOZ83 I was thinking the exact same thing, But I have the Disasterpieces DVD and I know it by heart. Surfacing is the last song and Joey plays it just as aggressively and precisely as the first song, which was People =Shit. so yeah haha
Na you're professional that's something that should matter not only that but you have adrenaline pushing you fatigue shouldn't be an issue at this level Period
Joey Jordison destrói total🤘🏻
Joey no tiene comparación 🤘🏻
Tienes razon pero Jay toca bien
Sorry but...Joey is the fucking man, end of story. Not only does he play the shit better, he helped write it.
For me don't compare who is better. Because they are both good at drums...
I write it again, and again and again. IT'S NOT COMPETITION.
+h4nys it must be a competition if you wrote on you title as them vsing each other...
NO
Jay good,Joey god
Emo
Joey is all about Speed when drumming while Jay is all about power when it comes to drumming. In my opinion, it's unfair when they're both better at different things
I wish ppl stopped making these types of videos... they are both great and at both different times of the bands career. Just enjoy the music 🤘🏻
agree, both of them are great
but I prefer Joey :D
By for the best comment
Agree
It's still interesting to have a side by side comparison
Its called getting a conversation going and finding out ppls thoughts and opinions, makes life interesting
I miss Joey
Same
Me too
Joey is entertaining
they are both great but i prefer joeys aggressive style especially for this type of music
Sounds smoother, effortless and more natural with joey
No hay comparación...Joey Jordison es original, único
Jey vive en la sombra de JOEY JORDISON 🤘🖤
RIP JOEY JORDISON, MY GOD
I like the sound of Joey's drum the best. Both drummers are top on their game, so no need to choose who is best! :3
You can’t have a mastered DVD version and an isolated drum cam and use that as a comparison. The quality is nowhere near the same to see whose better live
Joey is amazing.
Os dois pra mim são fodas...
Pra mim não deveria ter comparação já que cada um tem seu jeito e estilo de tocar
It's hard to compare two great drummers on a song that was composed by one in the competition. Both have great talent. If there is to be a true competition then they both need to be given the same set and the same song by a drummer from outside the circle. Give them both a go on someone else's original track and then compare.
facts
Both are great................One man wrote it and one plays it perfectly. The drums on the new album are on another level.
Not on another level at all. The drumming on Iowa and Self Titled are WAY harder and more fun to play. I will always prefer Joey because he had such awesome groove in his style of playing. Jay is trying to be Joey and plays a lot of the same drum parts that Joey played on earlier albums. Take Orphan, for example. That song sounds so similar to The Heretic Anthem it's almost funny. I'd say my favorite song that Jay composed for Slipknot's drums has to be Unsainted. But even there, the verses were classic Joey style drums. The ONLY thing I think Jay has over Joey is slightly cleaner blast beats, but neither of them are very good at them. Both really sloppy and pretty slow blasts. Joey's best blasting was on the title track All Hope Is Gone, and for some reason I don't think they've ever played that song live with Joey nor Jay. I'd LOVE to see Jay play that song. Probably one of my all time favorite Slipknot songs. Underrated AF.
Slipknot will never be the same. They lost an aspect that made them Slipknot when they fired Joey.
Winter Andrews yep, but they made a good comeback in their new album now.
Fired?
@@The6ixGun yes, they fired him
He is number One. The knot would not be without him
joey jordison
When paul died.. V man is doing great..
When joey is gone jay us doing great.. But still I miss joey smooth smashing.
R.i.p to the man the legend Vinnie Paul
Both guys are amazing and geniuses in there own respective right. Love’em both.
Both Jay and Joey are fantastic drummers, i take inspiration from both of them in my practice
I don't care who you put him up against, no one can put perform Joey Jordison. He's the drum king!
Tim Yeung destroys Jordison.
JOEY🤘
I mean seriously? Jay is a great drummer but Joey took drumming to a whole new level n thats coming from a drummer! #DrummersGonnaDrum
Joey Jordison forever in hearts
this should be joey and jay vs the world
So true
Tomas Haake would destroy them both
joey joey and joey always joey even you can play more awesome cool complicated but joey is always kick ass
Aang Sic yes thats true joey is likevthe god of drumming
Joey is and will always be the heart of the beloved Slipknot!!!!!!!
Joey's playing is more for that type of music, meaning the way he hits the drums and uses double bass is kind of cleaner because he doesnt use ghost notes, its alot harder to play the way Joey does because you use more energy, every hit he is using full force. The way Jay plays he uses ghost note ways to do the fast snare rolls, so he is using less energy and it brings out a different sound, Jay's more of a Jazzy type of player. They both are incredible and as far as double bass, i would say they are close but Joey had Faster doubles
I dont care they will both hold a hell of a special place in my heart the talent is unreal from both of them
I love how fair everyone is on this topic it shows the maturity of maggots we accept what is different and embrace uniqueness and I am proud to be a 20 yr maggot its no contest both are special. Great answers, guys!
Both are amazing! Jay sounded heavier to me. Much heavier actually.
Robin Brown just cause it was isolated
Maybe use a good video for jay before you try and compare.
Its a great video for comparing, cause drum sound is excellent hearing hear. Bet u are not a drummer.
Lol! Jay video was better than Joey's. You can clearly hear Jays drums but joeys is mixed with the rest of the song
Yes, exactly the reply i was looking for!
I hear ya but headbanging alone lol....joey really does own it so but jay is a killer regardless
I know it's a bad recording of Jay so a lot of people are blaming his drum set lmao 😂😂 smart people know it's because it's a raw recording from behind him.
Acho que não deveria nem ter esse tipo se comparação, Jay é um ótimo batera! Mais Joey jordison é o Deus da batera! A lenda viva..o gênio
Both awesome drummers!!! But one of them wrote the drum track
Joey jordison 😍😍 love you
damnn dude.. joey is awesome
you can't compare them, Joey's idea was from the very beginning.
Joey jordison is the best drummer in the world
@@johnzen9694 joey is in my top 2
so satisfying to see, i mean, listen to the first video, coreys voice dont sound forced, everything was good in that times
Yeah Joey makes drumming look so easy I love it when he stands up period
They are both good drummers but I think Joey is ahead about creativity
yeah coz it was his song. But I do agree in terms of Jays songs, they're more traditional
Y
Que época boa de Joe jordison, sem comparação para o Jay... Tá maluko
Ohhh, Chris's screams are awesome! ♥
Joey's playing is just soo freakin raw and focused. He just hits in such an organic way.
Joey FOREVER! I miss you so much!!!Joey has won. Jay is not bad but Joey is a drumgot
Norman Reedus u miss spell god
DRUMGOTTTTTTTT
They're both awesome.
They are both awesome.
he is not even near replacing joey damn. Joey no.1 man
both are really good, no need to compare
Carlos gamboa but if you do compare Joey is god
@@kanashii2781 nah Joey isn't nothing compared to other drummers , I prefer jay, he adds little fills that spice the song up Joey is also good but I prefer jays faster playing even if it's a bit sloppy keep in mind this video is from like 3 years ago when be barely joined, I imagine he's definitely gotten better, maybe even better than Joey point is their both good behind a kit and Joey will remain legend but now it's jays turn
@@cesarrobles1734 well said sir you sais everything i was thinking
Both are amazing
Jay é tipo um Joey Jordison mais novo..os dois são infinitamente muito bons! ❤❤❤❤
This video is pointless. The drum cam for Joey is mastered and any mistakes would be fixed. It was for a DVD. I have been in studios while a friend of mine who is an engineer for these type of videos does just that. “Oops this hit was a little off, let’s fix it”. Live DVD professional videos are NOT the sound exactly as it was live in the room.
Jay’s video was taken from someone standing behind him with a phone or mini DV. You’re hearing exactly what’s going on.
Also who cares in the end? Look at the lineup. Who’s the drummer? Jay is amazing
you want a good shit ? search for joey jordison eyeless intro breakdown
Black Veil any decent drummer can play eyeless, it's definitely a bit difficult, but its fairly easy to play consistently, if you want a real challenge, pretty much any song off iowa is harder than their first album
JOEY JORDISON LEGENDS💪
I think they're both super cool 💪🤘🔝talented guys👏👏💋
They are both super talented. I hate that Joey is gone but his successor is amazing albeit in different ways. Long live the knot
joey this song is amazing just besides interpret this tremendous musical track he wrote it
joey jay forgiveness kicks your ass with this song : 'D
I feel like jay plays faster but Joey plays more aggressively but overall they’re both amazing drummers
You can’t take away one from another. They’re both great and both are great drummers.
They're both phenomenal
Ah mi parecer joey mantiene los tiempos perfectos. En cambio yai pierde mucho el tiempo en los temas
I cannot outperform either so both are great. Jay's drum kit sounds more intense though. But Joey has more power and charisma.
Too tough to call.
Both awesome 🤘
Two human amazing drummer..brutalzzz 🤘🤘🤘
They are both great but when it comes to creating drum beats for albums/songs Joey is more creatively versatile while Jay seems to be more linear. Time will tell.
K Ahtic Jay has better technical prowess but that’s not what song writing is about.
Jay=Joey
If Jay couldn't play as good as Joey he wouldn't be in Slipknot. Both equally awesome drummers🤘
Nada ni nadie se le igualara a joey
Joey por siempre!!
Jay is static in his drumming doing the same thing over and over in every song.
Joey is everywhere exploring his drums, inventiv and the greatest ever
*Jay is awesome but his drum lines are repetitive, Joey besides being faster he made more variations, no wonder he had a giant DRUM KIT kkkkkk*
how did Joey make it look so easy
Anonymous Anonymous I mean, he *did* write the drums for the song, so....
both amazing
They are both amazing in their own way.
Joey's better, but then he wrote those parts. Jay's having to play something that somebody else wrote and while he isnt quite as good he's defo doing a stand up job of it.
honestly jay is better...IN MY OPINION SO DONT TALK SHIT... JK they r really equal in my opinion
イん乇 丂Ʋ丂ア乇ζイ noone is better both are amazing drummers. But the fact is Joey wrote those drum parts.
I can play things within my comfort zone that may seem hard for others. When someone can pick apart my grace notes and really captivate the message they are showing a higher level than just writing parts.
@@christopherchuauhang4829 Dude I said both are more like equals
ira watson Joey doesnt just write the drum parts. He wrote lyrics and guitar parts as well. Corey also said that Joey was great with coming up with intros.
When I first listened to The Grey Chapter the first thing I noticed was that the drums were definitely lacking. There is no question in my mind that Jay Weinberg is nothing compared to Joey Jordison!
Both are great and I love both guys but Jay is way faster and its effortless for him to play at a much higher intensity. Plus the stuff he has written with Slipknot is really good he brings a different style having a father that is a drummer he has picked up so many different techniques but he still knows how to get that quality and sound Slipknot needs. I've been listening to Slipknot for 16 years and Jay is keeping them where they need to be and Joey got them to where they are today neither could exist without the other and Slipknot couldn't exist without either one.
Jay looked up to joey as a young kid.
Keep fighting til the ones you looked up to becomes youre rivals
