Quality. I first see The Damned at West Runton Pavilion Norfolk UK 1979. Lost count with seeing them since. Still can smell the tension in the air lol... Great that you unknowingly captured the bass runs 😉
Thanks for commenting. It was a great night with lots of that tension in the air. Yes, the bass in my recording is very contentious. I could wish for clearer vocals but I've grown very used to Paul's powerful bass. I love watching him dominating the stage in front of me.

He is a great bass player and rather prominent in my video. Perhaps I should recall it Paul Grey and the Damned. No doubt that they are still capable of a very fine show. If you get the chance, catch them when we once again have live music.

Of course, much of my attention was drawn to what was happening in the UK. Every time I entered a record shop there were a dozen new albums to chose between. Some of the bands that made it this far in their very early days included The Cure, Wreckless Eric and The Stranglers. But it didn't take too long for many more to follow. How I wish I'd had my camera back then.

@@twistedspanner No, more to do with the limitations of my sound recording and where I was standing. The band sounded great live (of course) and the vocals were plenty clear.
Sony RX100 III and Zoom H1n. The first time I've recorded the sound separately. Being that close, the camera sound is usually distorted. I'm not 100% happy with the Zoom but it's certainly an improvement. Thanks for your appreciation.

Daniel Westerdale makes a change from most bassists being drowned out by the guitar. Dunno if it’s due to it being filmed too close to the bass gear. Either way Paul Gray can play that fuckin bass man...
@@ShadSimm Yes, the very prominent bass in the recording is because of where I was standing. It was a much more balanced sound at the actual gig. Still I loved having the opportunity of catching Paul's moves.

@@twistedspanner No, more to do with the limitations of my sound recording and where I was standing. The band sounded great live (of course) and the vocals were plenty clear.

Can I ask if this was just on a phone or what? The seperation is great.
Sony RX100 III and Zoom H1n. The first time I've recorded the sound separately. Being that close, the camera sound is usually distorted. I'm not 100% happy with the Zoom but it's certainly an improvement. Thanks for your appreciation.
@@Peter_LiveMusic I didn't hear any distortion either - when you turned your cam to the other side of the stage it was if you were really there (not trying to exaggerate but you know what I mean). Good stuff - cheers. See you at KK's if you are there. Good Luck.

@@Peter_LiveMusic Yes, me and the Mrs were there but I was pretty hammered by time I got there. We had been in the Giffard Arms, Victoria St goth pub for a few before. Great sound at the gig, my wife has some footage I might stick it on my Tank The Lord 'channel' (it's not a channel really) in the next few hours.

I take your point but I was working with rather limited resources.
That bass is a bit too prominent, drowns Capt's axe work IMHO. Plan 9 is a good example.
Daniel Westerdale makes a change from most bassists being drowned out by the guitar. Dunno if it’s due to it being filmed too close to the bass gear. Either way Paul Gray can play that fuckin bass man...
@@ShadSimm Yes, the very prominent bass in the recording is because of where I was standing. It was a much more balanced sound at the actual gig. Still I loved having the opportunity of catching Paul's moves.
