Imagine the stress the makers of all those machines was under. Designing them, building them, then setting them up and timing them correctly. Mind blowing
I have heard many years ago sometime in the 1970s that molten steel is dropped at a certain height ...as it falls the molten metal roundens and fall into maybe a vat of oil...I am not sure...maybe it "s a MYTH
Molten steel is dropped from a certain height unto a vat of oil...I have heard about this way back 1970s but it's not mentioned in any UA-cam video so I think this process is a MYTH
How It's Made is a Canadian show; the lady was the original narrator for the Canadian version, but they needed to change the script for the US version to match American measurements (feet, yards, ounces, etc). The guy narrator is for the American version.
no wonder everyone went after everyone else's ball bearing factory during WW2. this shit is so complicated and this is the 21st century. imagine doing this by hand.
Gravity assisted the process...molten steel is dropped unto a vat of oil....am not sure if the metal roundens as it falls or the oil makes it round....anyway I think this is a MYTH...no UA-cam channel ever mentioned this. I just heard about it in the 1970s
I’m disappointed. This video did not show me the important stuff. How the grinders actually machine the surfaces, especially the outer race. What kind of wheel, how it’s aligned and how the machine dresses the wheel. How does the grinder produce perfectly round balls. How do they get the balls into their space between the races since their size is such that the more balls inserted begins to center the inner race and then the balls won’t go in. Do they warm the outer race to expand it? I can describe every micrometer of the process to produce a finished 5.0L Ford crankshaft or the aluminum block, even the cam carrier. But ball bearings are still a mystery. Edit. I found the details on another video.
It takes a few DAYS to make the balls..!? Why not do it Instantly by dropping them as hot liquid and as they fall, they cool... Letting pure physics take care of their spherical precision..??
“The balls harden.”

wanted to knos how they put the balls inside, it seems there is a second cage which makes it simpler.
Of all things to get meme’d, it’s a video about bearings
When you try to listen or the episode premieres via radio, you will feel some agony.

"These balls started out as steel wires" same bearings, same
So the process of making he steel balls by dropping molten steel from a certain height until it roundens and hardens is a MYTH...
