Hiii, this video was very useful as I am currently planning on a course- and this one seems so interesting :)) However- I am currently studying Religion, Psychology and health&social A level and I have an English language GCSE, also I am very shy. Would you reccomend someone like me to look more into this degree? thank you!!
I have firmed this course at the same uni for september... any advice on what to bring over with me for the course and how to prepare? and how far away is the journalism building from endcliffe? Thanks, brilliant video :)
How exciting! Get the teeline shorthand textbook and a few reporters notebooks but other than that you don’t need too much for the course specifically! If you can get started on learning shorthand that will defo help you, but it’s not essential. And endcliffe and Mappin street are about as far as you can get from each other 😂 It’s probably a 35 minute walk... Not too bad, just uphill on the way back lol
hey! love this video, it's extremely helpful because there aren't a lot of journalism videos out there. I was wondering if you had any advice on the journalism EPQ? and if you don't mind, what would you suggest when picking topics related to journalism?
I did mine on native advertising - so it can really be anything in that media related zone in my experience... whether that’s marketing, broadcasting, social media, PR or general journalism!
this video helped tremendously!! how “international-friendly would you say the course is? i’m a student from the US and thinking about applying next year.
Great video and love the help! I’m just wondering whether a degree in journalism is worth it, as I’m really interested in it but might not be the best income wise? Any advice would be much appreciated! x
could you do a video on daily life in uni and life with flat mates and stuff because i am planning on going sheff next year and have no idea what to expect at all😂 like what accommodation is the best and stuff like that i guess?? anyway i love your videos :)
If you have a look on my channel I’ve got a video all about what first year is like and also a weekly vlog from my first year (“Study with me and show week vlog”) so def have a look at them! But I’d love to do one specifically about Sheffield at some point too 💖
Keep it going Alice! Your channel is amazing! Love your energy and personality🥰I make videos about the university of Sheffield too and of course I’m a student there it’s really amazing to find someone that goes to the same uni as me! ❤️
I see, Thankyou for replying, your video really helped me see Journalism isn’t my path, I appreciate the wake up call. The video is super clear and informative, definitely worth watching.
Hiya! Thanks for the vlog, super helpful. I’m coming to sheff uni to study journalism in Sept, is it worth getting a cheap tripod/mic fluff, not sure if they’d provide this along with the expensive stuff😊people in the gc keep banging on about having to buy black for news days - is this true & what’s it like? Thanks!
Definitely do not need to buy any equipment - the uni provide absolutely everything you need so don’t waste your money! Also you don’t have newsdays until second year and you absolutely do NOT need to wear black!! It’s more just like business casual - so non-ripped jeans and a nice top or shirt does the job!
Thanks Alice..I’m guessing from your comment this might be a common misconception😂 kinda also wondering how much free time u get as I get the feeling the course is pretty demanding, is the contact time a lot in first year or is there plenty time to got to societies etc?
I won’t lie to you gal, I’ve never actually heard the all in black for newsdays rumour before so no idea where that comes from 😂😂 And in terms of free time, you get LOADS of it in first year. The first year of the course really isn’t very demanding, it’s more about learning how to be confident and put yourself out there journalistically. I was only so busy in first year because I did so much society stuff. Shorthand in first year is demanding though! The course only really gets intense in third year 😅

Ah I’m so glad! 💖
Good video regarding studying journalism. Good if you talked about journalism itself (not sarcastic).
Really want to do this course at Sheffield so this is perfect! Currently in year 12 x

Very international-friendly! International students made up a solid 40-50% of our course
how did you link your epq with journalism, like what topic in it did you write about and how did you make it unique ?
I did mine on native advertising so it was only very loosely linked. Just media related really.
Great video and love the help! I’m just wondering whether a degree in journalism is worth it, as I’m really interested in it but might not be the best income wise? Any advice would be much appreciated! x
Im in the same boat as you my friend, I want to become a journalist but I don't know whether to do a journalism degree or not 😔😔

Yes girl! Gotta represent Sheffield haha 💖
I recently got my results and I’m curious how you used your EPQ to boost your grade?
The university gave me a reduced offer - so instead of saying I needed to get ABB they said I only had to get BBB to get in!
I see, Thankyou for replying, your video really helped me see Journalism isn’t my path, I appreciate the wake up call. The video is super clear and informative, definitely worth watching.
Hi this is an amazing video !!! :D What is a patchwork ??
Thanks! Patchwork is when you get assigned a part of the city that is your “patch” and you go out, find stories and write articles!
@@AlicePreece Thank you !!
@@AlicePreece Thanks :)
