I like the look but I guess I have OCD because the pattern on this type of "fan" (wheel or cover) is asymmetrical with respect to rotation direction: no one takes the time or resources to make left and right side covers (or wheels). With all 4 the same, the "fan" blades have a leading edge that is inboard of the trailing edge on the driver's side and the leading edge is outboard of the trailing edge on the passenger side. This will cause air to be blown out of the wheel on the driver's side and sucked into the wheel on the passenger's side. Probably doesn't matter much but the airflow around the wheels will be different on the 2 sides.
Mike I saw that too however the Tesla arrow caps are the exact same they have one mold there’s not a right side in the left side you would think there should be a left side and the right side but there is not but apparently it doesn’t. I’ll make any difference
I keep seeing comments about protecting the rims from scratching from the covers, but I would bet it keeps the caps from creeping from plastic on metal.
@@evdave528 Thank you, I watched the other video, now I got it. They do look sharp, may consider when my car arrives. Car on order, but of course delivery may not happen till year end
@@evdave528 Similar story here but I'm on my first AX-190. I worked for Allied Radio / Radio Shack at the time and loved giving demos of that radio but could never afford one as I was working to pay my way through college. 🙂
@@evdave528 I see Vlad is not available until end of September. We will be patient. Please put a good word in for me if you talk to him. Thanks for the referral.
I don't know , Dave. Plastic wheel covers on a $60,000+ vehicle? Seems to be a mismatch. I will say that in this day and age I am not surprised, just a bit disappointed.
Yeah I think you’re missing the point the whole idea of putting the arrow cap on is to make the car more efficient not look any better you want to do both if you can however I think having the ability to add something after market without spending another three grand is a good experiment
I don't see any improvement. If the Model Y's came stock with the Rimetrix covers, people would be customizing their Model Y's with what looks like the original wheel cover.

The fact that it hides curb rash (or protects against it) is a huge selling point.
I think that is a good selling point also keeps you from digging up the actual wheel rim
I put felt on mine, the foam isn't enough. Where they clamp needs protection also.
What is the best way to remove Rimetrix cap & not breaking it in order to to replace the tire?
Hi Dave,
Kim's discount is 40 dollars off, not 40%. Just wanted you to be aware of this. Great video as usual.
Looks much better.... 👍
These look beautiful Dave. Does the affect the ride quality and the range?
I think the range it’s the same as stock aero caps
@@evdave528 thank you. I'll go with these once I get my Model Y.
I noticed that there was a pre-installation task, involving putting on some foam strips. What function do they serve?
See his earlier more detailed video on same subject on his friends car
For reducing scratching the original rim and rattling.

The video explains this in detail with pictures have another look

I noticed your 1970s Allied Receiver on the counter. I have the same and wonder if you can recommend a source for restoration / alignment?
Hi Lloyd, try my Buddy Vlad at hamradio.repair say hi to Vlad for me
When I was a kid I’d go to Radio Shack and just loved that radio, that one is my third radio AX190😁

Does the stem for putting air in the tires stick out far enough to put air in the tires without taking off the Rimetrix covers?
You have the same access to the valve stem as you do with stock aero covers
What stops someone from stealing them since they are so easy to remove?
They are harder to remove that the stick aero caps
NO for years customers paid top dollar for aluminum wheels, they still look better in my opinion
Looks and efficiency and diametrically opposed
Are you still happy with them?
Where did you buy them?
Yes
Would those work on 19” Pirellis on a refresh model S?
They are made for the model Y

Quite simply, if you have silver caps and would prefer black, this would improve the look.
PlastiDip the original and save $$$$
One question what did you do with the very outer rim of the wheel which is still silver so now you have a black arrow cap would you do paint that also
