Colleen is known to daytime audiences for her delicious role of Barbara Ryan which she played for 32 years on As the World Turns.
Colleen was born in Barrington, Illinois and studied drama at The Catholic University of America. In her early career, she appeared in print ads and TV commercials for Kellogg’s and L’eggs.
Colleen has enjoyed a number of roles on stage as well including work on Broadway and off.

@@cocoaorange1 I think she's Eve Howard's sister. Eve Howard was on in the early 80s she was crazy and obsessed with Victor. Eve was also Cole's mother and he's going to be returning soon, and I think he has some connection with Aunt Jordan.
Jordan "running" reminded me of Barbara's antics on ATWT. It was great.

I grew up watching As The World Turns and the second I saw Colleen on the show, I was so excited! I called my mom and said guess what! Barbara is on Young and the Restless. What a great surprise and am so happy. Love this crazy story line - hope that she stays for a season or two or three or MORE!

Colleen only started watching World Turns around 2000 as I was an NBC( Days and Another World) viewer and could not be more thrilled to see you back. I'm fairly new to Y&R after Days went online. I wouldn't give up my flip flops for anything. Boy that was a relatable comment as was her comment about not having elective surgery after multiple life saving procedures. So happy for her at 70 after 13 years out of industry and horrid loss of her son. Awesome interview.

Just watched her today on Young and the Restless hiding in the vent at the house escaping. In my opinion its one of the best stories on Y&R in awhile. They have been struggling a little with stories in my opinion the last decade and a half. Using a shows history that's rare in 2023

Oh wow, Alan, this was an amazing interview. Drama, humor, memories, losses and new beginnings for the one and only Colleen Zenk! On a personal note, my heart goes out to her as a mother of a son suffering everyday with mental health issues. I want to to thank both of you for discussing how mental illness is taking far too many. Colleen sharing her heartbreak & memories of her beautiful son was incredibly moving. She has faced so many major life challenges, yet is here to entertain us once again, and we couldn't be happier! ❤

Colleen is such a beautiful woman, inside and out. I've been friends with her on Facebook for many years, and she interacts with fans as much as she does with her friends. She manages to be the epitome of class while also being so likeable and relatable. The soap world needed her and her talent back.

Oh, Colleen. The part about Benjamin Hendrickson made me cry. You can tell she really cared about him. That must have been so hard, losing not only that close of an actor but a friend. I remember being so sad when I heard he died.
We were all heartbroken! A tragic loss.
WOW, thanks Alan. When Colleen was talking about Roger (Howarth), I thought about that glass coffin wedding on OLTL. Billy Miller? Oh No ! Stop the dying ! I remember Barbara driving her car all the way into the hospital to get to WIll.

Barbara was always a character I loved to hate, but thankfully, Colleen seems to be a very nice lady and apparently, she has extraordinary strength and a big heart. The fact that she still has a hard time talking about Benjamin says a lot, I think. I'm very sorry to hear about her son. I wish her all the best. Thank you, Alan. Thanks Alan, what a great interview. I remember my grandmother saying , you should start watching ATWT again, they have the same writer as GL and Nola is on as a different character. When my grandmother passed away, I started watching YR , it made me feel like she was there with me and have watch off and on ever since. Colleen is a pillar of strength, just like my grandmother

I yelled YOUR AUNT JORDON and I leaned into the tv in awe seeing the beautiful Colleen Zenk . That feeling of joy shot through my entire body. I was watching this interview again and I gotta just say that letter the fan wrote to Barbara from Hal was so beautiful and heartfelt it truly was so thank you fan. I liked Hal and Benjamin played him so well. Benjamin was a good and sensitive soul and I was so sad when I found out he passed. Continue to RIP Benjamin, you were loved and you were great!

First things first Douglas Marland was a brilliant writer ✍️ who was magical. He was also right about Colleen in orange she is stunning 🤩. This interview was tremendous. Alan masterfully took us down the road to Oakdale and led us to Genoa City. We all laughed and then we cried. I could feel this tremendous woman’s poignant story of survival and perseverance and her feeling the embrace from the fans. All I could say is Bravo 👏 to performer who is as talented as she is gorgeous. Alan this was a good one that your mother and grandmother would have loved 🥰

Got into ATWT because of Luke and Noah....then went and (arbitrarily) started in the 1998 year and went from there (halfway thru 2010 now)...and I've always loved Colleen. She always delivers no matter what they threw at her! One of the greatest!

I never watched ATWT. My mom watched all the CBS soaps, and I would watch Y&R with her, then I would go on over to ABC soaps. I wish I had watched ATWT with her now. She passed in May of this year. She would have LOVED seeing Colleen back! I now get to witness this lady's talent on Y&R, and just from what we have seen so far, she is amazing. I am loving Aunt Jordan! I hope we get more of her!
