I have this exact watch and never want to take it off when it’s time to rotate. I love it. The FOMO you mentioned is driven by the stunning value proposition of Halios watches, in general and the Fairwind in particular, which is probably underpriced by 30% compared to the market. I don’ know how Jason Lim makes any money but he deserves kudos for the value/pricing Halios gives rs the watch community. Love your videos by the way.
Really cool watch. Have to wonder about the hype, though. The specs are awesome and the price is okay, but I just don't think it's unique enough to hold my attention for very long. I also wonder who's buying these. Can't count how many Zelos, Halios, and Helm watches I see on eBay that are "barely worn" and "sold out" and have warranty cards less than a few months old.
The design strikes me as architectural from the side profile. It remind me a 60s futurism, or something you would see at EPCOT. The market is awash with quality, affordable divers. Halios has built a cult following, so good on them. I wanted one so I jumped on the Fairwind for my collection.
The more I see these, the more I wish I'd have ordered one. I still think the Seaforth is a better design, but I'm digging that new bracelet. I look forward to Jason offering that bracelet & clasp as a stock option with the future iterations of the Seaforth. That would be awesome! (especially if it were in titanium)
I have a slate grey version with steel bezel and a bathyal blue with sapphire diver bezel. I'd like to add a Universa as well, that's how much I love them. I had no trouble buying them from Forasec. I did manage to activate the micro-adjust accidentally twice. I am only 2 clicks away from the last position so I don't really notice it.
Forasec won't ship to the US. I just got the same watch on eBay new. Contemplating selling it as its just now wowing me like my Raven, Lorier, Zodiac, or Astor & Banks.
I got sick of waiting for the Halios email & ordered a Traska Freediver instead. The Fairwind is a beautiful watch, and I still want one, but I can't see how it's any better than the Traska at $600. The Freediver is such an amazing watch! It's even better than I expected. That said, I'm still waiting on that email from Jason for the Fairwind LOL
I have 2 Fairwinds. I had no trouble getting them, and they are definitely worth it. I cannot compare it to the Freediver, but I did have a Summiteer. The Fairwind is in an entirely different league compared to the Traska. Finishing is way better, design is not even comparable, the Halios is so well thought out I keep finding new details even after having worn it for 2 months now. I sold the Traska because my OCD was tingling.
Hey Rob, great review as always. I've just ordered one of these, but concerned the slate dial might be too light coloured and not have enough contrast with the steel bezel (i've ordered the steel bezel variant). What's it like in the flesh, is it darker or lighter than it looks in pictures? Looking forward to getting mine on wrist soon. Love the mint coloured second hand. Thanks Tom
This is an evolution of the older Halios Seaforth so very much in line with the brand. I could see the vibes you are talking about but those are very different watches from very different brands.
@@alexandrecharra38 I agree, very different watches overall. But the longer pointy-angular lugs and the flat three link bracelet reminded me of my old Lorier. I wasn't implying one stole design from another, just that they looked similar.
@@RandomRobReviews thanks I feel better now- I missed out on a cheap (well RRP) fairwind on eBay while I watched some reviewers last night 😂🤦🏻♂️ but to be honest I love the new CW and they’re cheaper and have more variety (because you can actually buy them easily- Halios is the Rolex of Microbrands 😂😂😂) Thanks for the response and video- will wait for a CW c63 automatic in blue or maybe a Dartmouth (I want a good quality blue beater to compliment a Reverso Duo)
@@RandomRobReviews dude. How long did you own the two? You could maybe say that about the bracelet and case back quality, but Halios is in a different league versus Christopher Ward. The C60 Trident 38mm I owned was nice, but the Halios is a much better watch.
@@manuel_winde the Halios was great. I actually didn't like how easily scratched the bracelet was. The clasp is too tall and too long. The SBDC101 sits on my wrist better as well. The halios always edged towards the 12 o clock side of my wrist.
It's a nice watch I would even consider buying one but once you mention that " if you can get one " I'm out , I'm not begging to buy a watch going on waiting lists etc, lifes too short for that , great content by the way.
The hyperbole is extreme. I was able to get in on the first batch because I joined the mailing list. If you really liked the brand, you would easily have one by miss
The case back was never an issue for me. The bracelet was. The thickness of the clasp was too much, the bracelet grabbed my almost non-existent Asian arm hair, and it scratched very easily. I sold mine and bought a Seiko SBDC101. The fairwind is nicer as far as the dial goes. The seiko isn’t hundreds of dollars nicer. Honestly, the bracelet was my least favorite part of the fairwind.

The fairwind is fantastic, the brushing and polishing alone is way nicer than most watches below $1k
More microbrands need to have clasps like this tbh.
This one stands out. Classic clean and full of details.
Love this overall design. Nails it on every aspect. Thanks Rob.
I have this watch . It’s amazing !!! Favourite watch

Very cool idea on the bracelet adjuster

How would this compare to Lorier's diver?
About same

Heavy Lorier watch vibes going on here. Bracelet and lugs look exactly like my old neptune.

@@RandomRobReviews thanks Rob. He hasn’t made videos in ages and never did one on the Halios either :/
I’m wondering how it compares to Christopher Ward as it seems to be in the similar price point with similar spec.
Ward better. Halios still feels like a micro

Looks lovely but lug to lug is to big
I've heard this quite a bit, some folks are saying it helps it wear a bit bigger? not sure.
@@BoboBloxham it doesn’t hug the wrist as nicely as others, which accentuates how long the L2L is
This or Monta Noble? Decisions decisions.
Too bad that buying a Halios is like buying a Rolex
Some say that Halios is the Rolex of microbrands, for the better and the worst I guess hahaha.

Halios makes nice watches but the severe limited supply really turns me off. The cache just isn't there compared to Rolex, Omega, Breitling etc.
I've been waiting and it's been a bore, not sure how i'd feel if there's a problem with it either. refund?

Awesome looking Microbrand ...700 bucks is nothing compared to a video i just watched for a same old same old boring looking $1200 Seiko ..lmo
What’s the real lug2lug size?
Definitely the Rolex of the micro brand world.
Gorgeous Watch! That case man I wish Halios would stop ignoring me :p
Just get on the list earlier. That’s your fault.
The case back is bad for this price point, and the bracelet is a little too blingy for my taste. Think this is a pass for me...

Meh at best.
very ho hum......nothing special or unique about this watch from the myriad of other watches available on the market
I maybe jaded but, in general, there's very few watches I like as a matter of taste. Of the watches I do like, I wear even fewer.
Like what? Nothing under $1100 is as nice.
Overpriced
