I”m super excited today because you have shown and helped my channel to reach over 3,000 subscribers ad that is a really big deal to me. I appreciate you support, I appreciate your comments and really appreciate you sharing my channel with others. I love to see how hula is being shared around the world - even though we are not face to face, we can still share the story and the gift of hula through video, so mahalo for that.
We’re going to be starting on a new hula called, “‘Ulupalakua” which is about the Hawaiian cowboy, or as we say in Hawaii, the paniolo. This is going to be a 5 part video series: we’re gonna break it down with the feet and the hands as always. This song is al in Hawaiian, so I will go ahead and link the English translation for you below. It’s a little bit more of an upbeat hula, but I really think you’re gonna enjoy it.
This is also a universal hula for both men and women, girls and boys, children as well as adults.
So if you’re ready to dive into a new hula with me, let’s get started.

I am in Hawai'i Dec 17 2022. ..I planned this trip for many years..I came to run the Honolulu marathon..my 50th state marathon..I saved Hawai'i, the best, for last. to celebrate we went to a Luau... the performers were playing the Hawaiian Cowboy while people were being escorted to the table...I started to dance! And they were pleased and impressed that I knew the dance...not prefect, But they appreciated that I tried..it was so fun because I never thought I'd ever really dance this anywhere.. and it was the first song...sooo fun.. and my friends were impressed too..Mahalo Lynn for your tutorials of the Hula.

Lynn, I was trying to get in touch with you. I am grateful to have found your online lessons and had helped me a lot. I will mention about your page at my own live broadcast on facebook this saturday. I just hope you reply to my messages. I am Mel from Canada. There is no Kumu Hula here in Saskatoon. I have been looking for one. I have adapted some of your lessons and have improved some of my steps. Thanks.

Mahalo. That was awsome. I'm still just learning the gestures but It's really cool. I like cowboys. Can you show us the hula to Poli'ahu when ready?

iHula Hawaii Mahalo. As I've said, I have no halau that is close to me. Do you think you can teach some of the percussion that sometimes follows the dance? I actually own an Ipu heke ole and a set of Ili'ili.

Aloha Cassie - your request has been noted:).
Where are you located that you have to halau nearby? And do you have ties to Hawaii?

iHula Hawaii I'm in North Carolina. I'm about 2 hours away from the nearest halau. I'm not Hawaiian, neither is my family. I obtained a set of Ili'ili and my ipu heke ole from my cousin as birthday presents. She isn't Hawaiian either. She bought them from Amazon.
