  • Inside of Auschwitz, the largest concentration camp of the Second World War there were many brutal guards who were responsible for the executions and slaughter of thousands of people. Paul Szczurek was a notorious beast of a guard who was known for his sadistic behaviour and he drove many people to their deaths. At the end of the war he was sent to the execution chamber of Montelupich Prison for his crimes.

So astounding and disgusting how anyone such as Paul Szczurek could stoop to such abhorrent depravity toward fellow men. Hard to believe, but sadly true. Thank you for this eye-opening video of another war criminal who met justice at the end of a hangman's noose.

Ideology does that to humans. It kills rational thought, replaces it with emotion (usually fear-based) and builds a giant near-impenetrable wall around a core set of beliefs which require no evidence on the part of the believer. Actually the less evidence there is - the easier it is to get someone to believe that horsesh!t and to firmly commit to defending it by any means necessary.
At that point, that nonsense could be anything - magic man in the sky, profiting from your own labour = evil, nuclear reactors are H-bombs waiting to explode, hydric acid MUST be banned (that's one of my favourites! 😂), flat earth, hologram moon, some global conspiracy between X to oppress Y (this one's all too common in various forms), you MUST submit and do s3xual favours for the supreme leader... The list goes on, it's very long and keeps getting longer.
Anyway, the nazis chose to embrace the view that anyone outside the blond-haired, blue-eyed german aryan demographic is beneath them. They even came up with their own regressive stack, with die Jüden firmly at the bottom, but anyone who isn't particularly germanic also seen as untermensch.
With this load of unadulterated bollocks as the very core of one's ideology, it becomes extremely easy to justify carrying out atrocities on an industrial scale to oneself and one's peers. After all - these are not people. Not to the ideologue. They're little more than talking pests. High-functioning vermin. In the eyes of a nazi, murdering them in their millions was seen as doing the world a favour.
So you see, with the right frame of mind it becomes very easy for an individual to justify the behaviour. Even more so within a group of ideologues.
The scariest part is that we as a species have not grown out of it. Sure, nazism is now politically incorrect in most circles, but that's ONE ideology. All you've got to do is rebrand it, tweak it a little, pick another demographic and you can go right back to the genocide. Nobody seems to want to tackle the core problem, which is lack of rational thought. It's easier to just indoctrinate people into believing something else without question, as if that'll end any better.
I've seen enough now to firmly state that at least 50% of westerners are no better. They've been conditioned to fear the symbols and labels since birth, to the point where they will stand up and proudly declare "I *could never* be a part of this" (while being firmly committed to some mainstream ideology of today), as if standing on principle. What they're actually demonstrating is how ignorant and weak-minded they are. The truth of the matter is we ALL have it in us to do something like this. The thought processes that lead down that path are core instinct. That's why they're so easy to exploit. That's also why I can promise you that every single one of these "It could *never* be me!" types would be out there marching in their brown shirts and jackboots were this the 1920s and '30s. These people fail to recognise that abandoning rationality is the root cause of such problems. They really *do* need examples from 100 years ago to be able to tell good from evil. That unfortunately leaves them completely blind to the state of thoday's issues, so they fail to make the correct judgement. Repeatedly.
It's a sad state of affairs, and for the time being it seems to keep on getting worse.

By any and all age old moral standards,
      This man was a butcher.
No ss man was forced to be a mass murderer,
Their officers allways gave them the option of
      Not being included.

I used to be a child. Back then, I thought each gas chamber had a steel door and was located inside a large building; like a bank vault.

    • @geoffheard5768
      @geoffheard5768 Місяць тому

Exactly, gas chambers don't have wooden doors that open inward, with a glass window. And a crematorium Chimney not even connected to the crematorium. And 'murder camps', don't normally have a swimming pool, sports grounds with organized competitions, concert hall with house band, fully equipped hospital... Work camps likely did. So, what happened to the large industries that were constructed outside the Auschwitz wire? That the RAF and Americans used to bomb regularly? Didn't seem to care too much about the workers in those factories then? They became empty fields very quickly, easier to hide the truth that way...

Not one SS man was ever disciplined for wanting a transfer out of a death camp. Transfers were refused as they were privy to a State secret, but that was it.

I would have liked to know more about this man that provoked him to such violence. Was it Nazi propaganda that fueled his hatred or a combination of his childhood and the time spent in an ironworks that made him so cruel. We live in such a different world in the 21st century. Criminals are accountable for their actions and evil has been taken out of our evaluations and replaced by forensic psychology. Revenge has been replaced with justice. Was it justice to blame all the Germans when it was a handful of extremists who ignited the fires of war? Western Europe has enjoyed a resurgence in its wealth and cultural life since WWII. Is this what the Nazis intended? Have we profited from the period of reconstruction to the detriment of human suffering? No wonder the Israelis are pounding Gaza. Total war seems the best way as a form of blood letting to set the clock back to a happier time without the inconveniences of having to adjust our behavior for those less privileged.
