Mark has to be the least pretentious genius of oil painting and fine arts in general. Always seems genuine, conveys information thoroughly and has a "no non-sense" kind of approach. Thanks again, Mark!
Mr Anonymous - This is why I was attracted to his teachings about 15 years ago, when I bought his DVDs. There are no bells and whistles, just pure gold. I listened to his dvd every night for a year, whrn I went to bed, and fell asleep to it. I made a studio in my spare room, setting it up exactly as he said, with black fabric on the walls, created the lighting (cardboard boxes, also black), with holes cut in them, and covered with shopping bags, to diffuse the natural sunlight lamp light, then sat down to paint my first oil painting. I just wish Mum was alive to see it, as she was a fully trained artist who taught oil painting. My painting was described as ultra realism in his discussion group. He is a brilliant teacher, very generous and very real. I rate him up there with the very best.
I find myself watching each of these productions several times, and each time I learn something new. Mark, thank you for all the time you invest here. It is well spent. Laurence
You are the sole reason I have been able to start painting during Covid-19. While I’ve listened to quite a few influences on the internet, I always come back to your principles as a foundation. Thanks for all that you do!
A video from this week! I go straight to full screen to watch immediately. Thanks so much for this video and I look forward to more when you have time.
Mark, I appreciate so much your detailed explanations in this video. As usual. I’m loving your paint. I only bought one tube, just to try it out. But I do indeed like it. Nice to see you paint again!!
Thank you for sharing your video, beautiful landscape painting. I've been waiting for your next demonstration, your Geneva paints are absolutely great!
I’m sorry to see on your site you had a fire. I wish the best for you during your rebuilding process. Your paints are the very best and I’ll wait patiently to restock. 🙏🏻
So glad to see a new demo, love your landscapes so much, watch them several times. Just beautiful. Am enjoying my Geneva Fine Oil Paint set, your paint is wonderful. I love the neutral base color for prepping my boards/canvases; and the brush dip is great. Can't wait to see the new purple, wow! Thanks Mark.
Hi Mark I love your work and your creative side too. Right now I'm working on my studio again after I moved from one house to another. Loved your demo today..Thank you
Welcome back! About ready to use your pallet for the first time. It's been a great surface to collect stuff and dust while other projects took priority in my office/studio:(
I’m so glad to see a new video of yours! I’ve watched all of them and have learned so much. Especially love seeing a landscape demonstration. Thank you so much for sharing. Hope to see more coming:)
Parts of the sky that are very textured have sharp edges. I was expecting it to end up smoother, despite the reality of the photo. The peach painting video discussion of peach fuzz comes to mind.
Helpful because I do a lot of plein air, and want to transition to larger studio work from my photographs. This gives me a workflow to follow. In fact I'm so motivated I just bought your easel!
The dark values in the sky seem lighter in your painting than in the photo, seems like there is not enough contrast. So looks a bit off in relation with the dark ground, just a little bit. I love painting from a photograph, I learned a lot from your videos. Lovely technique, Mark!
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do and post it. You may have answered this question previously in another video, but i was wondering if you use the color checker when referencing a photo ? Regards
Great to see a new video after a long while. I do have one question which might make for a good video, and that is: what’s the best way to remove/scrape off paint if you need to go back and completely redo a section?
Would love to see a video on how to choose which colors to pre mix. I always have issues noticing which ones to pre mix and which ones are too similar to justify pre mixing.
Thought I was losing my mind...started this video on phone to find easily at home on TV and it was gone. Told my wife "I know I saw it!" Got home and it was gone...now it's back.
are you using just pure paint from the tube no mediums or anything? thanks your vids are amazing! I'm beginning my art practice and thirsty for knowledge!
Re around 6:10 where you say not to blend much - But you blended the colours on the palette, Mark. You have 40 colours on your palette but they didn't come out of 40 tubes, did they? Experienced painters can understand exactly what you mean but it could be a bit clearer for beginners

Try Stuart Davies he is pretty good and does in same way

Mark, your still one of the best oil painters around, if not THEE best. Your work will be appreciated for many , many years to come. Tallahassee.

Wonderful video! Thank you for showing us your take on a landscape. 😍
Welcome back! I was so happy to see a new vid posted just hours before I watched it.

Good show. I can use these ideas! Thanks Mark.
Brilliant job! Love this demonstration!
Amazing work Sir!
Beautiful! Thank you for premixing colors. Getting control of my pallet is my big challenge! Thank you!
25 minutes well spent and enjoyed...

To watch this video is to watch a genius at work
Beautiful Mark.
This painting looks great in my office :)
Love this painting!
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to do and post it. You may have answered this question previously in another video, but i was wondering if you use the color checker when referencing a photo ? Regards
Nice video Mark! Nice landscape! Sky was tedious!
I really like your painting.

Another great video. Thanks so much!

Mark has videos which deal with this exact subject. Check the web site.

THE BOY IS BACK
Beautiful 🕊🎨🖼
That was hypnotic, what a stunning painting. How large? Also, do you throw away the source photos when your done?
Thank you!!
Thought I was losing my mind...started this video on phone to find easily at home on TV and it was gone. Told my wife "I know I saw it!" Got home and it was gone...now it's back.
Wow. So missed you painting.
Very Beautiful
Video so fabulous I really like compliments for sharing thanks for the sharing please stay connected.💖.💗.💖.
Absolutely can't wait for the new colors! Will you also be offering them as a set?
Beautiful
Hey Mark, did you tone your surface or buy that as is? Ps Always stoked on your videos thanks for all you do
are you using just pure paint from the tube no mediums or anything? thanks your vids are amazing! I'm beginning my art practice and thirsty for knowledge!
Thanks for your videos they are great. Can I ask what colours did you use?
Is this using the basic set of 5 colours?
Amazing
Thanks for your videos!
Very helpful video
Thanks for sharing.❤️
Miss these videos
yeyyy new video
Freakin awesome!
I really loved this tutorial, lots of learning
#subhashgijare
What brushes did you use for this painting? Thank you Carol. Glad your back.
The book “The Science of Appearances” by Max Meldrum is worth a read.
Love this video. Was that blue you were using French Ultramarine?
Thanks for the instruction
thanks Mark
Thank you very much for sharing this instructional video. Hope to have more. By the way what is your cellphone ?
Great demonstration as always. Will try to blend less.
Wow👌
The one question , why don’t you mix with a pallet knife ?
Re around 6:10 where you say not to blend much - But you blended the colours on the palette, Mark. You have 40 colours on your palette but they didn't come out of 40 tubes, did they? Experienced painters can understand exactly what you mean but it could be a bit clearer for beginners
Is this landscape painting available in tutorials ?
Why you paint front to back instead of back to front?
Thank you so much , do you use liquin in every painting?? And what do you do with remain mixed colour ??
Mark has other videos which cover these issues.
Is there any way you would make this source photo available?
gawx saw your video amd made like you
Cordial saludo maestro, lástima no entender inglés,por favor deja subtítulos en español para quiénes no hablamos su idioma gracias
I wondered if you'd painted this in real time?
No. Mark mentions in the narration it took about 3 hours.
@@SuperRickflick Thanks Rick. Ya gotta have coffee breaks.
Hi how do you protect paint from drying on the palette?
The paint is made with a slow dry medium. See other videos dealing with this subject.
Does anyone know ??
Have we seen this one already? It seems familiar...
lulz i was 16 minutes in when it was suddenly removed. just glad it's back.
