I love how you put the old translation of the title in parentheses so people wouldn't get confused. ❤ I've always found it interesting how as translations get better we have to get used to the titles of tracks and stuff changing. "Charming domination" becomes "spiritual domination", "Eastern strange discourse" turns into "Eastern tale of fancy", "love consultation" is now "tale of romance", etc. I do wonder why so many things got translated poorly and took years to notice and fix. Like if it were like a handful of mistranslations getting sorted out in relatively little time, it wouldn't jump out as much, it happens all the time in media. It's just that the extent of it in Touhou is outside the norm. In any case, I think getting used to the re-translated titles is like the Ace Attorney fanbase with the Investigations 2 cast. Many fans refuse to accept the official names because they're so used to the fan translation. (Context: Investigations 2 took 13 years to get an overseas release). Similarly, some people might cling to an older track title even if it's inaccurate, just because they've grown an attachment to it. I'm doing my best to ease into the new ones, however, because I want to stay flexible and adaptable. ❤
Best is to know every translations of a title ;) Well, I totally get that it can be confusing for people, when suddenly a title you used for years got retranslated. I admit that I often fail to notice changes since I don't always check the current translations on wiki and I don't really follow any news other than the official ones... Gotta take some time to check everything and update things I missed :') Personally, I'm just a bit annoyed about how long it took to notice the retranslation, my bad for being a kinda reclusive fan :') I think it's nice to have the possibility to understand better the original meaning.
Checking really made me realize that I should check retranslations more often, doesn't help that there can be disagreements between translators :') For now I'll only show old translation in parentheses if I consider it's different enough from new one?
Short but awesome!
