The eye of the tiger signifies focus and intensity and that’s precisely what Rocky gave us as Creed trained our champ to obliterate his opponent. Happy heavenly birthday to Carl Weathers who would be 77 years of age today.
The name of the group Survivor who performs 'Eye of the Tiger' is perfect. Rocky Balboa is the ultimate survivor responding to and prevailing against all odds in taking on all of life's challenges, both inside and outside of the boxing ring.
Rocky’s gut wrenching wails to the death of Micky gets me every time. Let’s take a moment to recognize that Mr T is actually a really good guy in real life
Probably my favorite aspect of this movie is how dramatically Rocky had changed his fighting style. He went from being a hard puncher who survived due to his ability to take tremendous amounts of punishment. But now, he blocks! He dodges! He parries! He evades! The change is night and day, and it's a transformation that seemed totally impossible.
I watch a lot of reaction channels, and so many times it seems they're holding back at emotional scenes like this. Glad you let it all out. I bawl like a baby each time I watch that scene.
Stallone initially wanted to use "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen as the theme song in this movie, but they denied permission. So, he got this band from Chicago, called Survivor, to write a song. He sent them a couple of film reels so they could get a sense of what the movie was, and so some of the lyrics are directly connected - including the title taken from Apollo saying it - and the riffs, cord changes and tempo are in line with the punching in the boxing scenes. So, while some people think the phrase "eye of the tiger" was shoehorned into the dialogue because of the song, the opposite is true.
What a wonderful surprise for me too to open my phone and see you have sent me an awesome gift! That’s just so generous and a really lovely thing to do! Thank you sincerely, and I’m so glad my post made you smile 😊 I thought I’d do French plaits in my hair :) Thank you again 🥰
@@MovieDateWithKate I did smile. Can’t help but smile. Although (as I’ve noted before), it’s a little rough to watch you cry. You’ve got such a sweet heart and you’re very genuine. It’s fun getting to know more about you. I’ll get over you crying since I know it comes from a private place in your soul. Respect. I’m paying closer attention to the video since I got caught last time 🤪 And I’m a dumb boy so I don’t know the hair setup but my eyes tell me what I like LOL. It’s très cute.
It's always crazy to see Mr. T play such a ruthless character yet he's a God fearing angel in real life. It's so cool to see Sly, Weathers, and T all in the same film as such national treasures.
Kate, what a wonderful reaction again! You are so genuine. You might remember me telling you in your Rocky II reaction, that I was raised in Philly during the time of these movies. Rocky was a very important character to us. Your understanding of these movies and characters is so profound. You do us all so proud. That statue of Rocky remained on those steps in real life for decades. To this day, at any Philadelphia sporting event, when they want to get the fans excited, they play the Rocky theme song. Also loved your impression of Adrian saying "Oh my God" in your best Philly accent 😅. I don't exaggerate when I say that your movie reactions are a God send. I'm sure you can tell by the comments we all make, but the amount of joy your heartfelt reactions bring us is so important to many, and sometimes just what we need. See you in the next one, ok? Oh, and I agree with what you said at the beginning: "Yo, Adrian, I did it!" is definitely one of the best movie lines of all time. Cheers! 😊
What a great day to celebrate the memory of Carl Weathers watching “Rocky III” with you on his Birthday (January 14). My the legend RIP! Rocky III is really my favorite, right next to the OG “Rocky”. Life can really throw you a massive left hook. You’ve got to get back up and, sometimes, it’s the people you least expect to be there for you to help you back up. To see Rocky lose to Clubber and then lose Micky, but to make a comeback thanks to Adrian’s love and Apollo’s friendship . . . yeah, that’s movie magic that hits me in the feels every time. Not to mention Mr. T, who is my all time favorite Rocky adversary as Clubber Lang. Can’t wait until the next Date With Kate for “Rocky IV”!!! P.S. I was a rower too when I was younger in College. Obviously, I was a bum compared to you because our school wasn’t winning any competitions at all. It was still fun while it lasted. 😉👍
That’s just incredible today would have been his birthday! I love that you know that!! Happy heavenly birthday, Carl! I love what you said too about how when you’re really falling apart it can be the people you least expect to mend you back together. Mr T was bloody awesome.. great at acting and easily made me want to punch him 😂 And that’s cool you rowed too! It’s a nice sport to do in summer.. winter it’s hard & cold as you know but I loved the summer evenings and early mornings.
Talia Shire's greatest moment. In that scene with Rocky at the beach, I too only saw those two people; Rocky and Adrian--the chemistry between them was incredible.
It's amazing to me that 42 years later and we still love these movies! We cried along with you when Mickey died. Heartbreaking 😢. GREAT reaction to this movie. Now, you have to go all the way with ROCKY. Will be there with you.
This is why I enjoy watching these movies with you hon. You really feel for the people in these movies you don't just sit back and watch you are someone special Kate a very special lady
Kate, your personal story was so touching that I teared up. I guess movies that hit personal cords with us are the most beloved. The cord Rocky struck with me are the memories of sharing the fights with him.😊❤😊❤
Over 40 years on and that moment when Rocky becomes literally inarticulate with grief still gets me, there's something so raw and almost childlike about it, incredibly powerful bit of acting from Stallone IMO. And yep, Rocky x Apollo was the collab we didn't know we needed :). (might as well have called this one "Relationship Goals: The Movie" - friendship, romantic partner, even father/son in a way, if you have any one at the level we see here, you're winning at life I reckon)
You never disappoint Kate! I absolutely LOVE your reactions. So genuine and full on. I so enjoyed this reaction from you in eery way. Wonderful, wonderful job!
Kate, your heartfelt tears to Mickey’s death was the best reaction I’ve watched so far. This is naturally how we should react to losing someone passing on as he was present in 3 Rocky movies until this point
Paulie can be all kind of messed up, but when a guy with a body shape like the clown from Spawn, attacks a 6'9 340 lbs guy with a chair to protect you, he is a real one.
Mickey dying always upsets me because the bond between Mickey and Rocky is one of the strongest you can have. Its so sad because this broken bond doesn't only happen in films it's real life
I’ve enjoyed all of your movie reactions but this one is my favorite. Very animated and emotional. Your reaction to Mickey’s death almost made me cry. Thank you for sharing your personal experience.
I'm so sorry for your Grandfather and your loss. I cry with you all the way not only on this reaction but all reactions. Thank you for watching and sharing (opening your heart). We really appreciate it. Can't wait for you to see the next films and more Stallone in general. Take care!
Eye of the Tiger was recorded specifically for the soundtrack of Rocky III, The statue of Rocky was commissioned by Sylvester Stallone for this movie and gifted to the city of Philadelphia after filming was done, it stands outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Fun fact the Character of Rocky was created after Stallone watched the 1975 World Heavyweight Title fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner. Chuck Wepner from Bayonne New Jersey was nicknamed the Bayonne Bleeder due to his propensity for getting cut during fights, he had a record of 31 wins 9 losses and 2 draws and was considered to have no hope in the fight, and somehow he made it to the 15th and final round after absorbing alot of punishment and even knocked the champ down in the 9th round.
@@TheSyconerd Yes I think thats why they made him from Philly, and also some of Frazier's fighting style was incorporated along with elements of Rocky Marciano, Roberto Duran & Jake La Motta too throughout the films.
Micky was a true father figure to Rocky and he always had Rocky’s best interests at heart and i remember that scene really hurting when I saw it with my mates at the cinema but none of us would admit it got to us , boys being boys I guess but you showed how we felt Kate and your reaction to Clubber Langs pain prediction was hilarious 😂 great reaction as usual Kate
Another great time with you Kate!! This one... has a lot for me. First two are both incredible, but this one has a special meaning. Mickey´s loss, the unexpected friendship with Apollo, the growth of Rocky and Adrian as couple... surrounded by an unforgettable soundtrack.
There was a real-life instance when two boxing rivals became friends, and one ended up training the other towards the end of his career. The fighters were "Irish" Micky Ward and Arturo Gatti. Both had been former world champions when they fought each other for the first time. It ended up being one of the greatest fights ever with Ward winning by split decision. They rematched a few months later and Gatti won by unanimous decision. They fought each other one more time a few months after that with Gatti winning by decision despite breaking his right hand early in the fight in another classic fight. All three fights happened within an 18-month period. Ward retired after the third fight and Gatti invited him to be in his corner for his next fight, which Ward did. Ward would continue to do so and eventually he became Gatti's trainer until Gatti retired. There is a movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale called The Fighter that is about a portion of Ward's career though his fights with Gatti aren't covered.
PS. I saw this movie in the theater as a kid the night it opened and you would have thought the theater was at the match. We were cheering like you wouldn’t believe.
It may shock you to know that Burt Young (Paulie) was a pro boxer, who once fought Muhammad Ali in a exhibition fight. (Rocky's mansion in this movie was Ali's L.A home at the time) ROCKY III is not only my favourite Rocky movie, but one of my favourite movies. After I saw it in 1982 I began boxing and went on to have a 147/17 amateur fights. *I lost my Dad 2 years ago after he was the victim of abuse in care home. When we said we taking home, they threatend us with the police and social services. Without going into the details of what they did to him, he was eventually rushed into hospital and later died, 10 days after he turned 78 and a week before his and my mum's 60 wedding anniversary* I now know how agonising grief feels... We're suing them, along with five other familes, of other victims of that house of horror. There was an expose in the Daily Mirror about it, and we did an interview with BBC Radio 1. I'm also due to be interviewed by SKY News. Heads will eventually roll, but my dad will still be gone.
This was Mr. T’s first film. Before this his only claim to fame was what had brought him to Hollywood’s attention in the first place: winning a televised competition called ‘America’s Toughest Bouncer’. I love watching the training montage, especially seeing former professional football player Carl Weathers loping along having to hold back while Stallone is going all out to pass him.
Hahaha! That made me do a terrific laugh! Remembering Apollo taking it easy whilst Rocky spun his legs with all his might. I didn’t know Carl Weathers did football prior. Makes sense because he is massive. And that’s awesome to know about Mr T. Good on him working hard and training hard to get recognition.

I’ve seen the movie so often and have lived a jaded life long enough that Mick’s death scene doesn’t phase me, but watching your reaction, dear Kate, has me in tears. That was a lovely gift you gave me.
@ thanks for the kind words. My life hasn’t been particularly hard, just the full gamut of life experiences from joys to sorrows and those experiences have, naturally, jaded me a bit. You’re much more at the beginning of the arc of your life so it’s understandable that you would be more emotionally invested in a movie like this than I am. I hope you always manage to be the wonderfully open and sensitive soul you are now.
This was such a wonderful reaction Kate. I'm sure it's not easy to be so vulnerable and emotional in front of a bunch of strangers on the internet, but I appreciate your honest reactions to the films you watch. Your reactions are always genuine and heartfelt, and your commentary is always so interesting and insightful, that I just wanted to thank you for your time and effort to create these reactions. As a side note, if you want something a little lighter in tone you should check out Grumpy Old Men. Burgess Meredeth has a part in it, and he's quite funny.
See, I’m so lucky to have wonderful people like you check out my channel, and support me in such a sincere way. And that in turn gives me confidence to be able to watch movies and react to them in an open and honest way. ☺️🥰 so it should be me thanking you!! Thanks for your super words. A comedy lined up sounds just the ticket! And how great is Meredith’s name. Born entertainer with a name like that ☺️
Rocky III was the final role in the series (other than flashbacks) for trainer Mickey portrayed by the great actor Burgess Meredith. It was also the breakout role for Laurence Tureaud better known as Mr. T., who played Clubber Lang. Two real life boxers were considered for the role of Clubber Lang, Joe Frazier and Ernie Shavers. The role ultimately went to Mr. T. because casting director Rhonda Young stumbled upon a television program on NBC, 'America's Toughest Bouncer', showcasing Mr. T. Young was mesmerized by Mr. T's physical prowess, as well as his charisma. She then called the producer, Don Ohlmeyer to tell him about 'the man with the mohawk.' He had a screen test and the rest is history. The theme 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor is iconic.
Just LOVED reading your comment! I let out a little giggle at “the guy with the Mohawk”. I’m so glad she watched the program. Mr T was quite something!!! He really was. Love that for him!
Thanks for sharing your personal story. I lost my first grandparent when I was in my 20's and I remember when I got the news and literally blanked out for 3 hours. My mind just went into replay mode and just thought of memory after memory. Great reaction!
Thank you for sharing your experience with me. I’m so sorry you lost them 💔 it’s crazy what your heart & mind does in such moments. Thanks ever so much for watching and for supporting my channel.
The character arc for Adrienne came full circle in the beach scene. She would barely speak when he first met her. Over the course of their marriage she's learned to speak out (like her brother always has).
That’s precisely what I was thinking as she told Rocky exactly what he needed to hear and comprehend. With his love she managed to blossom into all her potential 🥹
1. My favorite of the Rocky movies. Rocky IV is almost as good as this. 2. Where I lived had that pinball machine and I kicked the shit out of it. (Top 5 scores) Same with the Playboy machine. 3. Micky's death shakes everyone.😭😭😭😭 4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You". 5. The woman swooning over Rocky that Micky chases away was Sly's wife IRL 6. Kudos to Mr. T for playing a man with absolutely no redeeming qualities. 7. IRL Clubber Lang(and his ego) would be back. In movie land, been there, done that. 8. RIP Paulie/Burt Young.😇 9. RIP Apollo/Carl Weathers.😇
Why do I keep watching all the reactors out there? This movie breaks me every time. Great movie with a great message. Great writing, great acting. What a story. Thank you for your reaction.
You said we should all hope we have someone in our lives like Adrian or Apollo. You are absolutely correct. Many years ago, the men's group I was involved in at our church, we decided to each find an accountability partner. Someone you can rely on, someone you can talk to and share EVERYTHING with. Now some 35 years later I have found that my successes in life are all due to the people I have surrounded myself with. I would not be the man I am today without the many people that have picked me up along the way. As important as all of that, it is just as important that I have picked them up along their journey as well. Thanks again. You are lovely. Again I use that word.
I absolutely love that you did that in your Church group. How inspirational and moving. And needed, that’s the thing. Good on you for being someone’s light. God bless you and thank you for your lovely comment to me.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Rocky III Kate! It's very inspirational and a tear jerker like part I & II. I think the Rocky II & III are tied as my favorites in the franchise. I can't wait for you to watch part IV.
Katie! This was a nice surprise to share Rocky 3 with you. And yes, the song was created for the movie. Rocky 4 is pretty good, but I'm not so sure about Rocky 5 - I think it's the weakest of the Rocky movies. The last movie, Rocky Balboa (Rocky 6) is powerful and wonderful and an excellent way for the series to end. It's so nice to go out on a high note rather than just fade away. I'm impressed that you're a rower! I used to do that many years ago when I lived back East. I never rowed competitively on a team like you, I just rowed as a single on a nice lake. It sure was good exercise though! The fires in Los Angeles continue on, with over 12,000 structures burned to the ground, most of them houses. My power is on, thankfully, but the Santa Ana winds are returning this evening with gusts up to 60 mph or so, I just heard. Keeping my fingers crossed - so far, so good. - Thomas
@@jasonward1470 Thank you for the kind thoughts. I'm hearing that the Santa Ana winds will be starting up again, beginning about 3:00 AM Wednesday morning and lasting about 12 hours. If we can get through that, we should be in the clear. It has been both amazing and scary as hell. My apartment is OK for now and the power is on. But I'm ready to scoot if push comes to shove.
The statue is real. They left it in place after the movie. At some point, they took it down for a number of years, as a silly movie prop. Later, they put the statue back in place, after time passed and cemented Rockey's iconic status.
Sylvester Stallone wanted to use Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" as the theme song for Rocky III, but Queen denied his request. Stallone then commissioned the band Survivor to write "Eye of the Tiger" for the movie.
43:42 Yes, that is a real bronze status. And yes, it's still outside the art museum, though it's been moved from the top of the steps to off to the side of the steps. I recall something of a legal battle over its presence, with many arguing that it should be removed from the top of the steps because it was a movie prop and therefore it wasn't "real art." I guess moving it to the side was the compromise.
Kate your reactions were absolutely amazing. You were actually in the ring with Rocky. Looking at your moves, you'd make a pretty good prize fighter. The Rocky statue is real and it's located at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.😊
@Kate, loved this had to sub you seem to get the emotional beats of the film. That hurt Rocky makes (his wails on Micky's chest) is damn real I made that loosing my wife of 17 years 3 years ago now. Here is hoping you finish off the Rocky series, and move on to the Creed series. I look forward to you seeking out all the fun films from the 1940's til now. Showcasing the best films are ALWAYS the movies that move us emotionally. Its going to be a lovely ride. Subbed.
Eye of the Tiger was written by Survivor for Rocky 3. Sylvester Stallone discovered Mr. T when Mr. T was on a TV contest while he was casting Rocky 3. When he saw Mr. T on that TV show, Stallone was like that's the perfect guy to plat Clubber Lang and cast him for the role!
Mr T started off as a bodyguard for several celebrities including Mohammed Ali. An early claim to fame was in winning ABC's Toughman contest. Later he co-starred in the TV series "The A-Team."
I never realized you were such an accomplished rower. You might like to check out the movie. "Oxford Blues". Its about an American who goes to Oxford to be part of their crew team. Also "Chariots of Fire" is a great story about the British Olympic track team of 1924 (I think).
I got the information straight from Haulk Hogan Intervew. He said he was told if goes to LA to film Rocky 3, he would be Fired. Haulk got fired. You can check. I think it is in PBD Podcast.
❤❤❤ this reaction! Best ever. Plus you point out how good Stallone is as a writer, plus his acting is perfect and on top of it all he's directing and every shot is absolutely right. I mean that scene on the beach with Adrian is an exemplary sample of how to direct a scene and cut i togethert in the exiting room and it's not a big epic scene, but an intimate epic scene that resonates because even while they confront each other there's the sound of waves crashing behind them. What goid be better done? Oh, and Eye of the Tiger was written for the film. 👍
One of my favorite movies. Yes the statue is real. It did stand outside the museum of arts, as it was shown in the movie .. in resent years it was moved. There is a wonderful documentary about Sylvester Stallone on Netflix, where he discusses his rise as a writer and an actor. Thank you for your reaction. You are a sweetie. 😊
Oh that’s so fantastic!!! Thank you for telling me about the documentary! I want to watch it now but maybe I’ll wait till after I’ve watched 4 because I’m worried there’ll be spoilers 🤓
Been watching you from the start and always love sharing this time with you. Knew this one would hit hard. My favorite had to be watching you fight alongside Rocky. You throw a mean punch. lol.
The Rocky statue is now in a grotto at the right hand side at the bottom of the Art Museum steps. Boathouse Row, home to Philadelphia's rowing clubs, is directly behind the Art Museum above the dam on the Schuylkill River. In the 1960s after we got off the water we would do wind sprints up a hill opposite the boathouses but if another crew was using it at the time we would run around to the front of the Art Museum to do our wind sprints up the steps instead. Of course after the film came out a decade later no one ever used them for practice again without appearing as a total fool lol.
God, I loved reading your comment. Really really made me smile! Loved that you rowed too!! And that’s so funny everyone went sheepish about running up the steps after the movie came out! I should love to visit the art museum and the statue some day.
Love this movie and it's great to see how giddy it makes you, there's really so many heartfelt moments here. Adrian is wife goals for sure, just a sweetheart. Rocky 4 awaits, it's the pinnacle of the series! It's nice to hear that you are a rower, probably 20 feet away from me is an indoor rower and though I was never dedicated enough to it to have a chance at representing my country it's such an enjoyable sport or even leisure activity. Swimming is more my thing but any excuse to be in, on or near the water sounds incredible to me and there's a tropical island somewhere calling my name to retire to😁 Yes that was Hulk Hogan, back when everyone thought he was a good role model.
Eye of the Tiger was written for Rocky III. The way I understood it, they wanted a different sound then what Bill Conti had for the first 2 films, so they went with a more pop Rock score provided by Survivor.
That’s a very true point that it sounds so different to the first two movies. Which is super :) it’s like the movie recognises how big it is! Superpower!!
@MovieDateWithKate absolutely. It was like this for every movie back then. I guess the only one that was an exception was Back to the Future 3 because part had the awesome teaser trailer at the end.
At the premier, Mr. T's mom got mad at him and said, I did raise you to talk to a women like that! RIP Mic! "How did you get so tough?" "I live with a fighter." And, yes, the song was written for the movie. Rocky IV is great. Rocky V is the weakest but still worth watching.
Hi Kate. Another amazing reaction. Mickey dying gets me too, especially when he says 'I love you kid' just before he passes away 😢. Adrian always in Rocky's coener, not physically but mentally. Shes such a strong character and played brilliantly by Talia Shire. Im sorry to hear about your grandad passing when you were younger 😢. Must've been so hard for you to train at that time like you said. Loving that you rowed for Wales 🏴 though 👍😁🥰. Cymru am byth 😉. You were very good at it from what you said about the success you had. Our country thanks you and you should be so proud of yourself. Simon xx
Great reaction Kate! Eye of the Tiger is a great song. Rocky's trainer, Mickey is played by Burgess Meredith. The death of Mickey in this film is one of the saddest film series. Fact, Mr. It's mother saw Mr. T's acting job and could not distinguish acting from real life behavior. I heard she actually did not like his "behavior" and said, "I did not raise you to act that way". She was mad at him. With respect to her, I agree with her, at least when it comes to Mr. T's character. Mr. T was brilliant also in this film. If you want to see Burgess Meredith in a funny role, I recommend "Grumpy Old Men" a great 1993 comedy. Stars Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. A very funny film. Burgess plays a very funny role in it. Finally for Sylvester Stallone, If you want to see him in a great high octane action film, I recommend "Cliffhanger" a great also from 1993 action film. He stars with Michael Rooker and John Lithgow. Also RIP to the late Carl Weathers. Hope you are having a great day!
Boxing fans recognize the Rope-A-Dope from the Rumble in the Jungle (Ali/Foreman). Let your opponent wear himself out, then take him down. Loved your reaction.
That’s so great to know! I find it awesome that these fighters developed their own strategies to win. And Stallone must have been a huge boxing fan to start with. Just love how these movies pay homage to the sport :)

Rocky’s gut wrenching wails to the death of Micky gets me every time. Let’s take a moment to recognize that Mr T is actually a really good guy in real life
In fact, you can see that Mr. T signed one of the snare drums that we see on screen during the statue scene.
Exactly that. That’s truly what makes these movies so so heart wrenching. It was so unashamedly human. ❤️🔥💔❤️
Creed was never a bad guy. He's a winner, a champion, in his own right. But he was always classy.

Tears in Rocky 2, tears in Rocky 3. I gaurantee there will be tears in Rocky 4, maybe not Rocky 5, but certainly in Rocky Balboa. Keep going
You're exactly right, it's a young Hulk Hogan 😊
Stallone initially wanted to use "Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen as the theme song in this movie, but they denied permission. So, he got this band from Chicago, called Survivor, to write a song. He sent them a couple of film reels so they could get a sense of what the movie was, and so some of the lyrics are directly connected - including the title taken from Apollo saying it - and the riffs, cord changes and tempo are in line with the punching in the boxing scenes. So, while some people think the phrase "eye of the tiger" was shoehorned into the dialogue because of the song, the opposite is true.

That’s just incredible today would have been his birthday! I love that you know that!! Happy heavenly birthday, Carl!
I love what you said too about how when you’re really falling apart it can be the people you least expect to mend you back together. Mr T was bloody awesome.. great at acting and easily made me want to punch him 😂
And that’s cool you rowed too! It’s a nice sport to do in summer.. winter it’s hard & cold as you know but I loved the summer evenings and early mornings.
@MovieDateWithKate Yes, I really enjoyed hearing about your rowing and how it related to Rocky.
somewhere up in heaven he's pushin pencils and gotta stew goin
Talia Shire's greatest moment. In that scene with Rocky at the beach, I too only saw those two people; Rocky and Adrian--the chemistry between them was incredible.
Stallone and Rocky are one in the same person to me
It's amazing to me that 42 years later and we still love these movies!
No one has made me cry like this in a long time. Feels good. Thank you dear and greetings from Finland, you are a human jewel.
Thank you!! I love the Finns!
Thank you 💕
Paulie can be all kind of messed up, but when a guy with a body shape like the clown from Spawn, attacks a 6'9 340 lbs guy with a chair to protect you, he is a real one.
6'11" 390 actually
Ironically, Burt Young actually was a professional boxer in his day.
Also based on Joe Frazier
@@TheSyconerd Yes I think thats why they made him from Philly, and also some of Frazier's fighting style was incorporated along with elements of Rocky Marciano, Roberto Duran & Jake La Motta too throughout the films.
My favorite Rocky. When I was a kid I walked five miles to the mall to see it and I got lost on the way and didn't get to see it.
Whatttt!!! I’m honestly devastated for you!! Please tell me you got to watch it eventually. That must have been horrible as a kid!
@@MovieDateWithKate Yes I did get to see it eventually and I also made sure to learn how to get to the mall after that.
Mr. T became one of the most beloved actors of the 80s, 90s, and to infinity and beyond.
Awww you boys! I can imagine that though. That’s how it goes though :) I’m so glad you could watch it with me now.
@@MovieDateWithKatealways look forward to your replys
Ohhh that makes me so happy to think about that. I can only imagine the electrifying energy in there!!
Thank you for that genuine and beautiful reaction.
Was waiting for this reaction !! :)
Apollo and Rocky: The original bromance before the word was even coined! The bond continues into part 4! You're going to LOVE part 4!!!
Exactly my thoughts in the beach scene lol. Bromance is beautiful!
Mr. T's mother walked out during the premiere and yelled at him "I raised you to act better than that" or something along those lines
Hilarious. I never heard that. I thought he did a great job acting. "Pain" is a great line.
@@jasonward1470 sorry but she never walked out; it was made up by a writer
my uncle was hired to drive a person around NYC & it was Mr. T
all T wanted to do was get KFC & sit in the hot tub
about a month later my uncle gets a box in the mail;
it wa a silk Mr. T jacket with my uncle's name on the front
I also heard the same thing. Mr. T's mom watching the premiere and seeing her son being so disrespectful. Not happy would be an understatement, lol.
I heard he actually had to promise her, he would never play the role of a villian ever again.
Excellent reaction!!!! I've never seen you cry that much. I just wanted to give you a big old hug!!!
Thanks so much! That’s very sweet.
I’ve seen the movie so often and have lived a jaded life long enough that Mick’s death scene doesn’t phase me, but watching your reaction, dear Kate, has me in tears. That was a lovely gift you gave me.
I’m sorry life has been so hard. That sucks for you, it really does. Thank you for your kind comment to me.
Born entertainer with a name like that ☺️
Thank you so much for this watch. I wept along with you with Mic! Very cathartic.
I’m so glad you could watch it with me :)
I swear. You are something else. I hope you are the same off the channel as you are on. Great reaction.
Another heartfelt reaction. On to Rocky 4.
1. My favorite of the Rocky movies. Rocky IV is almost as good as this.
2. Where I lived had that pinball machine and I kicked the shit out of it. (Top 5 scores)
Same with the Playboy machine.
3. Micky's death shakes everyone.😭😭😭😭
4. "Eye of the Tiger" was from a band called Survivor. Their other hit was "High on You".
5. The woman swooning over Rocky that Micky chases away was Sly's wife IRL
6. Kudos to Mr. T for playing a man with absolutely no redeeming qualities.
7. IRL Clubber Lang(and his ego) would be back. In movie land, been there, done that.
8. RIP Paulie/Burt Young.😇
@MovieDateWithKate ❤️
- Thomas
Keeping my fingers crossed for you too. Such a horrible thing. I also live in California right now, but fortunately not near the fires.
They moved it over to the old Philadelphia "Spectrum" for a while. I used to see it every time I would go to a Flyers game.
Sylvester Stallone wanted to use Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" as the theme song for Rocky III, but Queen denied his request. Stallone then commissioned the band Survivor to write "Eye of the Tiger" for the movie.
Oh really!!! Corrrr, well I’m happy it worked out the way it did! This song was PERFECT for it.
Awesome as usual Kate, your reaction to Mickey dying was Incredible and yes that was Hulk Hogan as thunderlips, yes the statue is real.
Another good reaction. Keep it up and I'll keep watching! 😊
I love your reactions. You really get into the movies and your comments are always on point. I wish I could watch a movie with you someday. Great job!
Thank you! ☺️
Most wholesome reactor on YT...and always great.
Mr T started off as a bodyguard for several celebrities including Mohammed Ali. An early claim to fame was in winning ABC's Toughman contest. Later he co-starred in the TV series "The A-Team."
That’s just awesome to know. Thanks for posting your comment!
I think they moved the statue from the top of the steps to a ground location.
You’re such a sweetheart, Kate. The best reaction I’ve ever seen from this movie.
How awesome to read! Thank you for the compliment 😊
Your an absolute treasure Kate. Never change.
Your profile pic is amazing! Amazon women on the moon is such a classic.
Been watching you from the start and always love sharing this time with you. Knew this one would hit hard. My favorite had to be watching you fight alongside Rocky. You throw a mean punch. lol.
Thank you so so much for supporting my channel! I’m just delighted you enjoyed watching me smack ‘em! Haha!!
Swimming is more my thing but any excuse to be in, on or near the water sounds incredible to me and there's a tropical island somewhere calling my name to retire to😁
Yes that was Hulk Hogan, back when everyone thought he was a good role model.
Beautiful reaction. Thank you so much for leaving in most of Mickey's final scene. Since 1982 it gets me every time. Subscribed.
You’re so welcome! Even though I sobbed j still loved it. Thank you for subscribing:D
thank you for sharing part of your story with us - it took courage to do so. Good for you.
Thanks a million. ❤️
I loved Mr T as a kid! I have his doll somewhere. Use to eat Mr T cereal! Lol
I ate the cereal too 😅
Eye of the Tiger was written for Rocky III. The way I understood it, they wanted a different sound then what Bill Conti had for the first 2 films, so they went with a more pop Rock score provided by Survivor.
"Another One Bites the Dust" by Queen was what Stallone wanted originally,
& Queen said no, so Eye was quickly written & is great
That’s a very true point that it sounds so different to the first two movies. Which is super :) it’s like the movie recognises how big it is! Superpower!!
Yes, the statue is real. It is still there, but they moved it to the bottom of the steps, I think on the right hand side of the bottom of the steps.
It lived at the Philadelphia "Spectrum" for a while. (Old home of the Flyers and 76ers and thousands of great rock concerts)
it's at the bottom but has it's own small park now too
so it's separate from the steps
Love your reaction, can’t wait for Rocky 4
Another Rocky kate night. Thanks Kate. xoxo
Really nice Reaction Video and I'm very curious to see you watching "Rocky 4", another great One in thus Franchise!😃👍🏻
Thank you!! I’m super keen for the fourth one too :)
I miss the days when you never knew if there was going to be a sequel to an awesome movie
Was it a surprise to everyone when more Rocky movies came out? 😊
RIP Mic!
"How did you get so tough?" "I live with a fighter."
And, yes, the song was written for the movie.
Rocky IV is great. Rocky V is the weakest but still worth watching.
Know what you mean about losing someone... brings memories of my mum passing ❤
Sorry for your loss. For me it was a brother.
I’m so sorry you lost your darling mum.
Jason, I’m so saddened to hear you lost your brother. That must be so painful still. You have a constant guardian over you,
@@MovieDateWithKate Thank you. Agreed.
Simon xx
Great watch along, the next film is my fave. Rocky 4 is amazing.
I lost my mom 7 years ago and Dad almost 3years ago I feel what you said when mick passed
I’m sorry you lost your dear folks. That’s tough. ❤️
Great reaction! Thanks.
First time viewing, so it’s special, love your company 😊
Thanks so much for joining me! :)
Nice review Kate. Thank you. PS...did you notice the music? 😀
Just remember Rocky is about a romance that just happens to be a boxer, not the other way around. Stallone said it himself.
That was fun..thank you 😊
Two things, the statue is still in Philly. And Eye of the Tiger was written for the movie.
I love how 80s this movie is 😂 just a perfect time capsule
all the way down to the crop tops 😅
Great job Kate!
Great reaction you come across as such lovely girl. I've really enjoyed watching all the Rocky's with you
I met Mr. T. once, he was a really nice guy.
Good you got Rocky III and IV is good too the others not bad
1st video i seen of yours. Clicked on it cuz the rocky movies are very special to me. I loved your reaction. Sub ❤

Boxing fans recognize the Rope-A-Dope from the Rumble in the Jungle (Ali/Foreman). Let your opponent wear himself out, then take him down. Loved your reaction.
just wrote this !
That’s so great to know! I find it awesome that these fighters developed their own strategies to win. And Stallone must have been a huge boxing fan to start with. Just love how these movies pay homage to the sport :)
I’m going to google that rumble in the jungle fight. It’s obviously super iconic :)
@@MovieDateWithKate you'll see why Ali was called The Greatest - and not just by himself.
