- Uncertainty is a fundamental property of games, whether it be through randomness, luck or information constraints. In this video, we examine the study of uncertainty in games, as well as its place in the history of play. We delve into theories by designers about how luck and skill are related, the different types of randomness as well as the many expressions of uncertainty across all types of games.

Astonishing depth of research. Thesis level work, unbelievably brilliant content. Thanks so much!
Just discovered your channel. Really interesting and synthetized talk, good work!
So much things I like in this video, good job !
Love this talk. Always thinking about the systems of games relationship with the social systems we exist in. I wonder if we apply these insights on uncertainty to the economic uncertainty faced by many people in this world. What can our insights on engagement with games say about our engagement with our societies and our lives?
great video
3:11 Disagree with this, then why would i play a game and still have fun in spite having lenient ai and being almost certain to win? The joy of doing is something it must be taken into account. It's like playing guitar, you dont win at guitar you just have a lot of fun doing so. I realize that days where i played FGs and it was ruined it was because that one try hard friend turned a "band concert" into the fucking world cup - we wanted be silly and try crazy stuff and there was he stucking us in infinites and spamming fire balls.
i feel like i've seen that same chess clip 100 times by now
The development of deep fluency in games is critical since games are a sandbox for life. How can I contact the Game Analyser. I have a project I’m working on called Ludo Society which I would like to talk to him about. I hope he / she will message me here or on Patreon. Thank you.
Procedurality could also be a proper word to fit in the title?
